Chapter Text
My name is Kusuo Saiki, I am a third year student at PK Academy. And, I am a psychic.
“Kusuo, we should go to the amusement park tonight. I know you wanted to stay in for this date, but it’s going to be fun! There’s also going to be a show! I can come…”
With a boyfriend.
“…What do you think?”
This is Akechi Touma, my boyfriend.
Sounds good.
“Great! I’ll get us tickets.”
We’ve been dating for eleven months. Well, twelve starting today. It’s been great, minus Aiura and Chiyo who have been giving “advice” to us. They’ve toned it down, but I can still hear their thoughts. Other than that, as I’ve said, it’s been great.
The two walked to school, like always, and chatted with each other—it was just Akechi talking actually—while they changed into their school shoes. Like always.
The only part that Saiki truly hated was when they had to part for classes. Yes, he loved being around his boyfriend, and yes, he loved the fact that being around his boyfriend made others more likely to avoid him because not a lot of people would willingly put themselves around him. Not like he would ever say that to him, but he suspects that Touma might already know.
“Saiki! It’s such a beautiful day out, don’t you think? Perfect to go out after school with friends!”
“Maybe we could go get ice cream and karaoke!”
I have a date, maybe next time.
Oh, I must’ve forgotten to mention but Teruhashi has given up. After seeing Touma and I, she was relieved to think that the reason I wasn’t attracted to her was because I never liked girls. It’s been a blessing.
“Saiki! You have a date with Akechi? Maybe we could make a double date thing?”
Well, it’s an anniversary thing so we were hoping it would just be the two of us. Definitely another time.
Kaidou and Kuboyasu are still together, of course, and Kaidou has seemed to mature from his 8th grade syndrome. Well, not fully. There are some times when he reverts back, but that only happens when he’s really embarrassed.
“Maybe we could go on the eighteenth? Hey, Shun.”
Kaidou squeaked as a response when he felt the hand wrapping around his waist.
“Haha! Of course, Shun is the name of this mortal body! How could I forget,” he squeaked with a red face, his voice getting higher with every word.
Yes. A perfect example of what I just said.
“Saiki! You’re going on a date with Akechi? To where?”
An amusement park .
I've learned to humor Chiyo, just a little.
“How romantic! Are you riding the Ferris wheel?”
No. Touma doesn’t like them.
“Oh…it would’ve been perfect for a date.”
How ironic that someone with her dating experience is saying all that.
“Yo, buddy! Buddy, buddy.”
And Nendou is the same as always, annoying.
It was a blessing and a half for Saiki once the end of the day came and he got to see his boyfriend once more.
Everything was perfect.
They got their shoes, Saiki walked Akechi home— and no, it was not just to avoid walking with the others —he went home, got ready, and waited for Akechi to come. Once they were both out and ready, the two went on their date. It was perfect.
I thought it was.
It seemed that as Saiki walked with Akechi, he noticed something bothering the blonde. Various times he asked,
Touma, are you alright?
And various times he got the response,
“Yea, I’m fine!”
It was starting to irritate the psychic, but once the two got to the amusement park, he had forgotten most of it.
Until the problem came back.
Saiki thought they were doing fine, going on rides and trying out food, but it seemed as if Akechi wasn’t fully enjoying himself.
Touma, are you really ok? Are you sick?
“I’m…Actually, Kusuo. Can we talk?”
Uh, ok.
This threw the psychic off guard. Akechi sounded serious. Dead serious.
“I really like you, Kusuo, and these past eleven months have been great! Well, twelve since today is the day we got together.”
What is happening?
“You’re an amazing boyfriend, and I know you like me as much as I do to you.”
Is he breaking up with me?
“But—“
No.
There was a silence that followed the taller boy’s sudden exclamation that was only interrupted by the sound of everything else going on around them.
“No? What? Kusuo, I—“
I don’t know what I did wrong, but I’ll fix it. I don’t see why you have to break up with me. I’m sure I could fix it. Just..let’s not break up.
There wasn’t an immediate response, not after such a rushed statement, but once Akechi got over the initial shock he laughed.
He had a smile on his face as he let out a disbelieving laugh.
Um, rude. Saiki crossed his arms, now embarrassed even though he felt that he did nothing particularly humiliating to earn this response.
“I’m sorry! I just!” the blonde took a pause to take a breather,”I didn’t think you thought that was why I was acting weird. I’m sorry that I made you feel as if I wanted to break up with you, I definitely don’t.”
But what about what you were saying?
“I was trying to say, but I’ve realized that my feelings go deeper than like. I want to continue this relationship past high school and past college. I’m not asking to marry you, but I want to see where this goes, I don’t want us to end. So, I’ve come to realize that I love you, Kusuo. That’s what I was going to say, before you interrupted me!”
He scoffed, muttering under his breath,”…break up with you…ludicrous”
You love me?
“Yeah…y-you don’t have to respond! I just felt it was fair that you’d know, I understand if you think this is moving too quickly—“
I love you.
“What?”
Saiki took a hold of one of Akechi’s hands and pulled it towards his face, he lowered his face to his hand and kissed the other boy’s palm.
I love you, Touma.
The blonde looked to the other’s eyes with glossy eyes of his own, sucking in a breath.
He smiled,”Ok.”
The psychic returned the expression with a small smile of his own.
Ok.
The two did not know exactly what this entailed for their relationship in the future, but that’s not what was really important to them. The only thing that mattered is that there would be a future, for their relationship, for them.
