Is There Room?

Summary:

Izuku's nephew goes into the room. "What are you waiting for? It's not like I booby-trapped my room," the boy laments. Izuku slowly pulls his attention away from the room.

Hopefully, he didn't think Izuku had no manners. "You didn't say I could go in your room," Izuku points out helpfully. The boy's face remains angry. "Fine, you can come in," he growls. Damn. Izuku steps in and stares at the bunk beds.

Izuku hates bunk beds.

Chapter Text

Hitoshi was on his couch, minding his business, watching JoJo's Bizarre Adventure while petting Darth Vader. Darth Vader is his Dad's cat, who hated him. The cat hated his Dad, not Hitoshi.

His Dad has a little brother, and he was coming to live with them today. Hitoshi doesn't get why his Dad is so glad. That boy was going to ruin everything. Also, how come he has an uncle the same age as him?

His uncle would tell Dad and Pops that brainwashing is a villainous quirk.

Hitoshi had to make sure that his uncle wouldn't do that. His Pops was in the kitchen, making lunch so his uncle would feel welcome. Hitoshi also had been forced to help his Dad clean out the guest bedroom, which they used for storage. Now his Dad was painting the walls, and because of that, Hitoshi might have to let the boy sleep in his room. Hitoshi removed the games he kept up there. He didn't understand why the other couldn't sleep on the couch.

"You're thinking pretty hard there, Hitoshi," His Pops calls out.

Hitoshi sighs, quickly thinking of a lie. "I was thinking about how you and Dad didn't tell me his name." Pops' eyes widen. "Really? His name is Aizawa Izuku." Huh. Hitoshi thought Pops would've left it a surprise.

Hitoshi's Dad comes out of  Izuku's  room. "Izuku said he was being driven here by a child safety service employee. He should be here in five minutes." His Dad says. Hitoshi internally groans. Izuku moving in is too much work. Pops moved out of the kitchen, gently pulling Hitoshi to the front door. Dad opens the door, presenting the blue car in the driveway. A boy gets out of the car, pushing the door closed.

Dad walks to the boy and smiles at him.

Well, it looked more like a smirk than a smile. "Hey, Izuku."

Izuku stares, "Um, hi?"

Hitoshi expected the boy to look like Dad. The only similarity was the curly hair, and from the look on his pops face, he thought the same. After a few seconds of awkward silence, Hitoshi's Dad gives an introduction.

"Izuku, meet Hizashi and Hitoshi, Hitoshi and Hizashi, meet Izuku."

Pops decides to speak first, "Hello, Izuku! It's nice to meet you." Izuku smiles, "Nice to meet you too." Damn. He didn't even tack a sir onto the end? Izuku's got no manners. (Hitoshi ignores that his Dad has little to none unless extremely necessary.)

Pops shoves Hitoshi lightly, expecting him to greet the other.

"Nice to meet you, I guess." He grumbles that last bit under his breath. Izuku blinks at him and then moves on. "Sho-nii, where can I put my stuff?" Dad turns back towards the house, leading Izuku to his room.

"Leave it outside the door. The paint is still drying."

Wait a second. How come Izuku was the same age as Hitoshi, 13? His Dad is 25.

That means, between them, there is a twelve-year age gap. What parents would have kids with ages so far apart?

Hitoshi's Dad walks with Izuku to Hitoshi's room. "You'll be staying here until the paint dries." Dad leaves, allowing Izuku to get settled in. Hitoshi scoffs as Izuku stands in the doorway, looking around, "What are you waiting for? It's not like I booby-trapped my room."

This asshole already knows his quirk, doesn't he? He thinks the  villain  is trying to hurt him. The boy blinks and puts on his innocent face. Ah. So he's one of the ones who pretends to be his friend.

Izuku speaks, "You didn't say I could go in your room," the boy's face remains blank. Hitoshi glares, "Fine, you can come in." Izuku enters, observing Hitoshi's room. Izuku looks at  Hitoshi's  bunked beds and mumbles. Hitoshi glares at his uncle.

Is he not only going to steal Hitoshi's parents but his bunk beds too?

Hitoshi was snapped out of his stupor by a monotone voice. "On which bunk am I going to sleep?" Hitoshi glowers harder. "Bottom bunk." Hitoshi didn't want the boy pranking him by pouring water through the mattress.

The downside was if Izuku went to tell  Hitoshi's Dad  about how villainous Hitoshi's quirk was, Hitoshi wouldn't be able to hear him.

He wouldn't hear the creaking of the ladder or the groaning mattress. Many things Hitoshi's previous foster siblings did that Hitoshi hated. Like when they would walk into his room uninvited. Or tell his foster parents lies about he destroyed their watercolor paint set.

(None of the homes he was in had paint.)

Plus, when they got into arguments, Hitoshi was always in the wrong. He was ecstatic when he got here that there were no other kids. Hitoshi thought he would be able to be happy here. But now Izuku was going to sabotage him.

Besides, why did he even need to be here now?

                                                                     ~~~~~~~~Izuku's Pov~~~~~~~~~
A villain had attacked Izuku and his Mother four days ago. His mother was in critical condition, so the hospital watched over her. Izuku was allowed to stay while his mother was unstable. His mother died yesterday. Since Izuku's mom wasn't alive, the hospital kicked him out.
Sho-nii, Izuku's brother, said that he would take him in. Izuku hadn't seen his brother in years and was excited to have a nephew. They were close in age, which made it weird.
Izuku also found out his brother was engaged. Izuku's mom never told him boys could date boys. He was shocked to find out, though he had done his research. Izuku still wasn't sure about his sexuality and would have to think more. His brother's fiance is amusing, at least. Or so Izuku was told.
"We're here." The child safety services worker said, causing Izuku to flinch.
Shit.
Why are they all outside? That makes it awkward.
Izuku exits the car, worn yellow backpack on his shoulder. Sho-nii speaks, breaking the tension. "Hey, Izuku." Well, damn. Please don't put him on the spot Izuku was a small bean. Izuku pretends not to have internally panicked. "Um, hi?" A few minutes pass, Izuku worrying if he did something wrong all the while. Sho-nii introduces them.
"Hello, Izuku! It's nice to meet you." Ah, yes. The amusing fiance. Time to be polite, but not too polite. Izuku wants to see his reaction.
He smiles. "Nice to meet you too." Dammit. He's already used to not being greeted with manners. Hitoshi, his nephew, mutters something that Izuku doesn't hear. Judging by the scowl on the boy's face, Hitoshi wouldn't repeat it.
Izuku follows his brother to his room. "Where should I put my stuff?"
Sho-nii looks at the paint. "Leave it outside the door. The paint's still drying." Izuku drops his stuff backpack to the floor and walks with his brother. They stand in the doorway of a grey room. There was a bunk bed with a desk beside it. Izuku hears his brother walk away during Izuku's continued observation of Hitoshi's space. He also vaguely remembers his brother saying he would be staying here.
Izuku's nephew goes into the room. "What are you waiting for? It's not like I booby-trapped my room," the boy laments. Izuku slowly pulls his attention away from the room.
Hopefully, he didn't think Izuku had no manners. "You didn't say I could go in your room," Izuku points out helpfully. The boy's face remains angry. "Fine, you can come in," he growls. Damn. Izuku steps in and stares at the bunk beds.
Izuku hates  bunk beds.
Why should two beds be combined? Ugh. Izuku supposed he could handle this for one night. Izuku hopes he's not going to sleep on the top bunk. "On which bunk am I going to sleep?" Izuku asks in a flat voice. Hitoshi sighs and responds. "Bottom bunk." Izuku wonders if he should stay here because Hitoshi seems to be plotting murder. Izuku decides to leave, so he tip-toes out, noting that Hitoshi doesn't notice.
                                                             ~~~~~~Back to our favorite possevive boy!~~~~~~~~

When Hitoshi finishes questioning Izuku in his head, he realizes the other left. He also smells barbecued salmon. Izuku better not have gotten his portion. Hitoshi stormed into the kitchen, where Izuku was helping Pops. Hitoshi's Pops looked up from where he was cutting purple onions. "Shouta went to aid Tsukauchi on a case. Izuku wanted to eat, but I had forgotten to cook."

The short explanation was all Hitoshi needed to glare at Izuku again.

How dare he demand that Pops make food? Izuku arrived here only two hours earlier. Hitoshi watches as Izuku ignores him and plates food. Hitoshi walks over to the couch, careful not to disturb Darth Vader. His weight causes a dip.

The cat hisses and moves away from Hitoshi.

Hitoshi plays on his Nintendo Switch until his Dad gets home. Hitoshi hears the jiggling of the key in the lock. He waits on the couch, even as the door creaks open.

Hitoshi hears the door close softly but no footsteps, so he assumes his Dad forgot something.

He was not expecting water on him.

"Hey!" Hitoshi shouts.

When he turns, he sees his Dad standing behind him.

Pops, on the other hand, was cackling, Izuku standing next to him. Izuku glares at his Pops. Rude. Hitoshi's Pops works hard to control his quirk. Hitoshi frowns at his Dad.

"Why?" His Dad's grin makes Hitoshi frustrated. "I wanted to see if you would notice me." Well, Hitoshi didn't. His Dad should do it to Izuku. After Hitoshi's Pops finally gets his laughter under control, he grins.

"Let's eat!" Pops says. Izuku goes to their table carrying all four plates. His Pops notices that and questions Izuku, "Why do you know how to carry plates like that?" Izuku gives him a deadpan stare, "I wanted to be a waiter."

Dad snorts, and Pops gives him a look. Dad eyes them, "It was a joke," He says, rolling his eyes.

"Yeah." Izuku agrees, looking offended that they believed that. Bruh. They've known him for what three hours? Izuku expected them to know that? Hitoshi, his Pops, his Dad, and Izuku sat at the table and ate.

Pops tried to strike up a conversation with Izuku, "What's your favorite color?" Izuku hums, thinking, "Red, I guess." "Why?" His Pops pressed. Izuku would prefer not to answer that question. "Because it's the color of blood," He says after Pops takes a bite, monitoring his coughs. Izuku grins. "That was a lie!" Pops weakly glares at him as he drinks water.

"Then what's the real reason." Izuku's face contorts.

                                                                               ~~~~~~~Izuku's thoughts!~~~~~~~
Izuku does know why it was his favorite color. He didn't know how to feel about it.
It was because of Bakugou Katsuki. Izuku wasn't in contact with him now. He misses him. Izuku had known him since they were babies. Izuku's mom said that when they first met, Izuku could already crawl.
His mom had taken them over to Mitsuki's house. Katsuki was in his playpen shaking a rattle obnoxiously loud. Izuku crawled over and tried to snatch the rattle from Katsuki, seeing as it annoyed the adults. When Izuku couldn't reach above the fence, he slid the lock to the side, unlocking the pen. Izuku crawled in and ripped it from Katsuki's hands.
Katsuki opens his mouth to scream when Izuku hugs him. They were friends from this point on. Well, until they found out he was quirkless. His mom got depressed. Her depression caused her to keep the two away from each other.
She had even tried to kill herself once. She made Izuku promise not to tell anyone.
Izuku feels guilty, but how could he break a promise to his mom?
                                                                  ~~~~~~~~~What's happening.~~~~~~~~~~

Hitoshi scowls as Izuku doesn't answer Pops' question. How could a favorite color be that hard to justify?

Izuku eats his food as if nothing happened. Hitoshi watches as his Pops gives up on waiting for the answer. What the fuck? Hitoshi would so be talking to this asshole later.

Hitoshi's Dad stands up after everyone has eaten and collects the plates.

Izuku tries to take the dishes.

"Go do whatever teenagers do," Hitoshi's Dad says.

Izuku pouts, Wow, Hitoshi thinks, what a show-off. He's straining to prove that he's better than Hitoshi. Hitoshi walks to his room, secretly thankful that Izuku didn't follow him.

He wonders if he can convince Dad to kick him out. Hitoshi heard the door open and saw Pops coming in. Hitoshi was on the bottom bunk, so Pops sat down.

"How are you adjusting to Izuku being here?"

Pops questioned, smiling gently at Hitoshi.

Hitoshi put down his Switch, "It's alright," He lied, "Why is he here anyways?"

Pops sighed, "Sho said that Izuku's mom died." Hitoshi sits up. "Why is it only Izuku's mom? Not Dad's mom too?" "They're step-siblings. Shouta's father had been cheating on his mom, and when Sho was ten when Inko got pregnant." Hitoshi blinks at that statement, "Inko?" "Izuku's mom." Huh. Hitoshi thought they weren't step-siblings.

That makes sense. Wait a minute. "Are you even supposed to be telling me this?" Pops nodded. "Yep! I asked Izuku and Shouta!" Hitoshi's surprised Izuku would let Pops tell him anything. He thought Izuku hated Pops.

Hitoshi then asked, "Why does Izuku only have one bag?" Pops' eyes widen considerably.

Oops. Guess Pops didn't know that.

Also this is what they had:

Salmon

Also Izuku is quirkless and 15 not 13. He's older than Hitoshi.

Hitoshi is acting like a cat that's very protective of it's territory.

Oh yeah. Izuku and Shouta are very awkward.

Chapter Text

Hitoshi's Pops stands as he shouts in outrage.

"What? HOW DOES HE ONLY HAVE ONE BAG? WHERE ARE ALL HIS CLOTHES?" Pops didn't hit his head when he stood up. That's good.

Pops left the room as calmly as he could. Hitoshi's Pops is the type of person to have a walk-in closet.

So, to hear someone has five outfits at maximum must be pretty shocking. When Hitoshi moved in, Pops almost immediately took him shopping. There are only not enough clothes, according to his Pops.

.

.

.

Hitoshi doesn't get it.

He should have more clothes. Izuku's mom bought him some.

Izuku's 'Oh, I don't need more clothes' act for pity.

Hitoshi can't tell his parents, or the boy would lie. (Hitoshi ignored the fact he was the one to bring up clothes.) He needs to be left behind. If he stayed home, he could look through the boy's stuff.

He wanted to make sure Izuku wouldn't pretend Hitoshi beat him up.

Hitoshi sighs when he hears Pops call for him.

He walked into the living room, resigned to his fate of shopping. Dad was the one to talk to him, "'Zashi and Izuku are going shopping tomorrow. You can either stay or go." Yes! He can go through Izuku's backpack. Maybe it'll have interesting information. Knowing Pops, they'll be out all day. Oh. Hitoshi's Dad isn't going either.

 That'll make it hard.

Hitoshi prays that Dad sleeps tomorrow.

Hitoshi realized that he zoned out and quickly replied. "I'll stay."

Pops looks worried, "Alright, you two should get to bed."

Izuku doesn't appear particularly pleased. Hitoshi could tell. He also didn't seem like he would fight it.

Hitoshi lets Izuku step ahead, noting how the other blinks at that.

The duo makes it to Hitoshi's room. Izuku's bag was outside his room.

Hitoshi was in his room, and Izuku was in the bathroom.

He recalls Izuku's glare toward Pops. He wonders if Izuku is homophobic. Is he trying to break them apart?

Izuku came back. He had changed his clothes and stood in front of Hitoshi. "What?" Hitoshi snapped. "Can I go to sleep, or?" Hitoshi forgot about that. He can't have him thinking he's better than Hitoshi.

"Of course, you can wait because you're worth more than a kid with a villainous quirk." Hiroshi sneered. Izuku confusedly sits down as Hitoshi leaves.

Why was he  confused?

         __________Skip Hitoshi Changing Clothes___________

Hitoshi threw open the door, fully prepared to see the boy snooping.

When the door slammed, Izuku opened and closed his eyes.

"Huh?" His only response is Hitoshi staring at him. Izuku shut his eyes. Hitoshi climbed up the ladder after he had grabbed his Switch.

He scowled, turning over as he played Mario Kart.

                 ~~~~~~After Hitoshi Goes To Sleep~~~~~
Izuku sits up.
By now, the paint had to have dried.
Izuku pulls out his phone and checks the time. 11:37, the cell phone said.
Izuku stood up, the mattress silent, as he walked to the door, grabbing his stuff.
He tip-toed out, hurrying to his room.
Izuku doesn't understand why they made him sleep in Hitoshi's room. The boy hated him and didn't like Izuku in his space.
That's the reason Izuku was going into his room.
Hitoshi was a territorial cat, and Izuku was in his territory. Izuku planned on staying up late to sleep late.
That way, he wouldn't have to go shopping.
His soon-to-be brother-in-law, Hizashi, looked quite disappointed at his clothes.
He said something about them being hideous.
Hizashi also said there weren't enough. Izuku blinked when he realized he was in his room.
Then he poked the wall in the corner. That way, it wouldn't be noticeable.
The room was cozy and inviting.
The walls were blue and contrasted with the warm wood floors. It was also empty. Instead of seeming sad, it seemed excited to be filled.
Izuku sat on his bed, the room comforting him.
He heard the door open; he assumed it was Shouta returning from work. He listens as the hero talks to his fiance.
He needed to make this easier on Hitoshi. Izuku could try to spend more time with Hitoshi. Show an interest in his hobbies and interests. It might be helpful for Izuku to have an open and honest conversation.
With Hitoshi about their relationship and the issues, they may face.
Trust and communication were needed to improve relationships. Izuku should listen to Hitoshi and work towards mutual understanding and respect.
Izuku decided he would try that the day after his shopping trip.
Izuku abruptly stood. He needed to hide his bag. Mom would look through his notes and call them creepy.
Too many people had called him that.
Some had stolen his money.
Izuku walks around the room. Then, he paused. The tile under his feet was hollow.
Izuku bends down, digging his fingernails into the crack between the floorboards.
He blinked. That was simple. The small section was dusty, with clumps of dirt allocated there. Izuku plops his backpack inside. He'll clean it later. The filth makes it more natural. More untouched.
Izuku jumped into bed.
~~~~~~~~~~Morning! From Hito's Pov.~~~~~~~~

Hitoshi wakes up in an empty room.

At first, he didn't comprehend it, then he paused.

Izuku is supposed to be in here. Did he wake up? He was scared of  brainwashing,  wasn't he? Hitoshi exits his room.

No one was in the living room. Where  was  he? Hitoshi thinks harder.

He wanders around and gets a glimpse of green hair. He didn't. Hitoshi stepped back and gazed into the room.

Yep. Izuku moved to his room and went to sleep.

Pops would understand. He's sat on the couch, a mug of hot chocolate in his hand. Pops looked up. "Oh, Hito, is Izuku still asleep in your room?"

Hitoshi frowns, "No. He-" Hitoshi's cut off by his Pops' gasp.

"He went to sleep in his room?" His Pops gaped at Izuku's room. "Yeah, he went some point in the night." Pops stood up, positioning his mug on the table. He dragged Hitoshi to the room.

Pops shook Izuku, "Wake up. Wake up!" Izuku opened his eyes.

"Huh?"

"Get up! Paint fumes can cause dizziness, headaches, and breathing annoyances. Why did you sleep here?"

Pops exclaimed. Izuku got up and stared at them.

He doesn't appear to smell the paint fumes. Hitoshi's already getting dizzy. "Are we going to leave? Because-" Izuku didn't finish his sentence as Pop's removed him from his room.

Hitoshi ran after them. That wasn't a good idea. He realized that when he almost threw up. Izuku doesn't seem affected at all. What's up with that?

Pops begins lecturing Izuku. Saying how breathing in paint fumes like that could have long-term effects.

~~~~~~What Izuku thinks~~~~~
What the fuck?
Izuku doesn't understand the issue. All he did was sleep?
Also, what paint fumes? Izuku couldn't smell any.
Why was this a big deal? During his sleep, he figured out why Hitoshi hated him. Hitoshi has abandonment issues. Oops.
Izuku completely forgot Hizashi was lecturing him.
Hizashi finally paused his speech. "I don't get it. I'm fine, no headache, no nausea, and I'm breathing normally. Why does this matter so much?"
Hizashi goggled at him, "I explained everything. What do you mean? I think you need to go to the hospital."
Izuku won't agree with that. Shouta was up now, noted Izuku. Sho-nii drinks his coffee before speaking.
"What is this about?"
His brother's fiance answers, "Izuku slept in his room."
Sho-nii was confused. "I don't-Oh. The room still smells like fresh paint."
"Exactly! I told him what the paint could do to him. Then he said he still didn't understand!"
Hizashi leans on Shouta dramatically.
Or not so dramatically. Hizashi's eyes filled with tears.
Izuku sighed and surrendered. "Fine. We can go to a hospital." Izuku felt fine.
Hitoshi looked like he might pass out.
Izuku glanced at him again. Never mind, he was doing better now.
Izuku wanted to listen to his favorite song and finish rewriting his analysis.
Izuku trailed after Hitoshi.
The boy tried to convince his Dad to let him stay home. Izuku watched as Shouta didn't consider it.
When they're in the car, Hizashi attempts to make small talk. "What do you like to do, Izuku?" "Writing and drawing." Izuku quickly responded.
"What do you write about? Fiction stories or non-fiction stories?"
"Analysis." Izuku doesn't elaborate.
"Oh? Will you show me it sometime?" "No." Izuku firmly shakes his head.
"Please?" Hizashi begged, turning to face Izuku. Hizashi wasn't the driver, so the car was fine. "NO." Izuku glares back at him.
"Okay, okay." Hizashi aims to placate him.
The car ride was uncomfortable from that point on. Izuku ended up thinking. Why was Hitoshi so rude to him? Izuku recalled cruel, rough wings flapping, being attacked relentlessly by two boys. They beat him for ten minutes before Katsuki arrived. Izuku extracted from his thoughts. They had reached the hospital. Wait. That wasn't a hospital.
Shouta noted his suspicion and replied. "This is a clinic many heroes go to. It's not well known, but they have good service." Huh. Izuku's never heard of this place. He takes in the building, memorizing it for later.
His brother walked up to the front desk and explained it.
Izuku dismissed the explanation in favor of the patients.
There weren't many. The few people there seemed to be waiting on someone else.
Izuku was in a room where they did a standard check-up. Izuku didn't pay attention to any of it. The next thing he knew, he was in a room that smelled of antiseptic, Hizashi, Shouta, and Hitoshi standing before him.
The doctor said something about how he seemed fine. Izuku was ready to leave, but the doctor kept talking. Shouta's eyes widen, or maybe they don't. Izuku couldn't tell. Hizashi was confused?
Izuku was sure of that one. It felt like he was dreaming. He might still be asleep.
Izuku passes out.
Notes:
Hi! Sorry about the cliff hanger. @_@
I really struggled with Izuku's Pov. He's so hard to write. Hitoshi's flows really smoothly though. (o_-)
Chapter 3: Hospital
Summary:
Aftermath of Izuku passing out.
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Shouta helped Hizashi lift Izuku. What happened? He seemed out of it.
Hizashi was fretting over Izuku in the corner. Shouta walked to the doctor. "What happened to him?"
"I don't know why he passed out," The doctor sighed. "He was likely dissociating."
Dissociation? Why would that happen? Shouta thought that over, then responded. "Are you sure? Maybe it's an effect of his mutation," Shouta suggested.
"Well, we can't be sure. Dragon quirks researched never had anything like that occur." The doctor said, looking over Izuku's paperwork.
"Izuku's Dad's quirk caused him to pass out if he was too cold."
Shouta and Izuku's father stuck around until they each got their quirks. Then he fucked off. "Hmm. That may be correct. I advise you to have him stay overnight at a hospital." Shouta scoffed.
The occasional hospital allowed quirkless people, but those were hard to find.
Most believed that mutations had to be related to quirks. "I recommend Musutafu General Hospital."
The doctor replied to Hizashi, "That one allows quirkless people."
Shouta assisted Hizashi with placing Izuku on his back.
He looked at Hitoshi and realized Hizashi was the only one not in pajamas.
Shouta raised an eyebrow at Hitoshi.
"Are you going to walk or do I need to carry you?"
He meant for that to be genuine, but it sounded mocking. Hitoshi's face flushed as he stood up.
Shouta and Hitoshi follow Hizashi as Hizashi carries Shouta's half-brother. Hitoshi struggles to help Hizashi put Izuku in the car. They manage it after Shouta aids them.
Shouta asked Hizashi to turn on the GPS. Hizashi does. Shouta hated driving. It was wasteful and unhelpful to the environment. He preferred walking. It was beneficial.
He knows logically, Izuku will be fine.
Shouta barely registers parking at the hospital. Hizashi gets out of the car, "Izuku's still asleep!" Hitoshi reported.
"How are we supposed to get him out?" Hizashi groans.
"Maybe we can wake him up? The doctor never said anything about that."
Shouta offered. Hizashi glared at him.
"Waking people up for our convenience is rude."
 That's true. Hitoshi raised his hand, "Doesn't he need to be awake so the nurses can ask him questions?"
Damnit. He's got them there.
Hitoshi and Shouta voted Hizashi to be the one to wake him.
"Why me?" Hizashi whined. "Chill, Zashi. It's not that hard." Shouta grunted.
The hero was known for being loud.
Hizashi even shouted at Shouta for fun.
"Izuku, wake up!" Hizashi yelled. Izuku stirred but didn't wake up.
"Hello? Izuku?" Shouta's fiance shook Izuku. Is Izuku okay?
Shouta worries when he doesn't flinch when Hizashi shouts in his ear.
After ten minutes, Shouta reaches in and takes Izuku out. Izuku was currently dangling over Shouta's shoulder like a sack of potatoes.
His breath was so light Shouta could barely feel it on his back.
________.Izuku's Memory.__________
Izuku and Bakugou were best friends at the tender age of 7. They'd known each other since birth and had been inseparable ever since. From playing superheroes to exploring the playground, they did everything together.
Izuku was a shy, quiet boy who loved to read comic books and watch anime. Bakugou, on the other hand, was a loud, boisterous boy who liked to adventure.
One day, as they walked home from school, they stumbled upon a lost puppy. It was a tiny thing that looked like it had been wandering the streets for days. Without hesitation, Izuku and Bakugou took the puppy under their wing and decided to take care of it.
They spent the entire day playing with the puppy, feeding it, and bathing it. Katsuki dubbed the puppy Explosion. They even made a little bed out of a cardboard box. Izuku couldn't keep the puppy forever. They knew that the puppy needed a home with a loving family.
The next day, they went door to door in their neighborhood, asking if anyone had lost a puppy. Each neighbor cooed at them and shook their heads, much to the ire of Katsuki. After several attempts, they finally found the owner. It was a woman searching for her beloved pet for days. She was overjoyed to be reunited with her furry friend and thanked Izuku and Katsuki for their kindness. Katsuki chewed her out for her carelessness.
 They may have been different, but together they made an unstoppable team. And who knows, maybe they'll save the world together, just like the superheroes they always pretended to be.
Izuku misses Katsuki and his mom.
__________Shouta Again._________
When the quad arrived at the front desk, Shouta sat Izuku in a chair.
His arms weren't tired, and he was thankful for his job. Hizashi talked to the receptionist, seeing as Shouta hated talking to people.
Hitoshi pulled out his phone, presumably looking up something.
Shouta remained standing, half of his attention on his partner. Shouta hoped Izuku's condition would improve.
Hitoshi didn't appear interested in Izuku's circumstances.
He was likely adjusting to Izuku. It's not like he's known Izuku all his life. Shouta's surprised Hitoshi adapted to them so quickly. Hizashi had estimated it'd take four years.
In reality, it took six months.
Since Izuku had nowhere else to go, they couldn't slow this down.
Shouta heaved Izuku back on his shoulder at Hizashi's nod.
Hitoshi looked up from his phone after Shouta hit him with Izuku's foot. That caused Shouta to bring his attention to Izuku's shoes.
The shoes were a terrifying shade of red, almost bright enough to blind you.
Hizashi planned to buy him new ones, but here they are.
"Place him on the bed," The nurse instructed.
Shouta drops Izuku on the bed.
"Well, I guess I never said carefully." She laughed, "Did he hit his head when he passed out?"
Hizashi caught him as he fell. Shouta tells the nurse, "He didn't. We were at a clinic. They tried to check him for a concussion, but he didn't wake up."
"Are they stupid?" She gasped, "If he didn't hit his head, why did they check?"
Shouta thought she seemed young. He wasn't a medical professional.
"I don't know." Hizashi and Hitoshi leave to get food while Shouta watches the medical staff flit in and out. Hizashi came in carrying food, Hitoshi trailing after him. Hizashi spreads out the food, Nikujaga in to-go containers.
Shouta notifies him of the information he learned.
"They said the only likely cause, based off test and what we've told them, is him not eating or drinking enough."
Notes:
Hi! Grammarly informed me that the words monotone and groaning are albeist words. (Idk if this is true.) So I apologize for using them.
I also don't know is I continued to use them. So give hate comments if desired.
Anyways. I going to tell you why I came to AO3. I was reading a fic, (Cough. I Don't Run An Orphanage. Cough), and one of the comments said they had more updates on AO3!
After reading that I read A Series Of Unlikely Events, and was hooked. AO3 was what I decided to read on. After a while of reading fics, I started writing my own.
If you read Electric Shock by orphan account, (These are all MHA fics) you may think my writing style is similar. And yes I did write that and the series. On impulse I deleted that account and orphaned my works.
Believe these statements or don't.
Also I am not a medically professional. 99% of the information is fiction.
Back to the fic!
This was supposed to be longer, but the rest is for next chapter.
Your comments are lovely and motivate me! (Along with Kudos, Bookmarks, and Subscriptions. Last time I checked I had 35!)
I hope you continue to encourage me!
Chapter Text
Hizashi was not expecting that.
The listener looked like he'd eaten enough. He supposed it was his fault for only making a little food. Hizashi wasn't used to making four servings, okay! How was Hizashi supposed to get him to drink more? Izuku didn't seem comfortable with him. They were going to bond, but this mess happened. Why did Izuku sleep in a room wet with paint? Hitoshi was defensive but wouldn't take this out on Izuku, right? He understands what it's like to be bullied because of your quirk. Maybe this was a bad idea. Izuku can't go anywhere else, and Hitoshi would feel abandoned if they sent him to Nemuri.
"What are you thinking?" His fiance's voice sliced through his thoughts. Hizashi remembers the first time he met Shouta. He had a speech about how he needed no friends, and suddenly he had four.
Hizashi smiled softly. "Nothing too important. We can talk about it later." He loves his fiance. Hizashi was excited about the wedding. They aren't sure when it'll happen because of hero work, Hitoshi, and now Izuku. They had too much going on.
"Are you and Izuku still going to go shopping? You know, when he wakes up." Hitoshi asked as if he was plotting something. Hizashi was worried for a second, then realized it was likely a harmless prank. It would be fine.
"Yeah. Izuku needs better clothes." Hizashi laughed. He saw Shouta pull out his yellow sleeping bag. Hizashi has no idea where he keeps that. He feels off about how Izuku was protective of his notes. Has someone ruined them before? Or does he dislike criticism? He'll ask Shouta later. Izuku doesn't seem to enjoy questioning. Hizashi also doubted Hitoshi would know.
Hizashi throws away the little that's left of his nikujaga. He should find a way to make Shouta go home. Oh, he thinks, I know. "You should take Hitoshi home," Hizashi hums.
"Why?" Shouta wonders, giving him a suspicious glare.
"Hitoshi should go home, and you should change your clothes. Also, put Izuku's nikujaga in the fridge." Hizashi says, shoving the container in his fiance's hands.
Shouta stared. "What the fuck."
"Love you too!" Hizashi cackled.
Hitoshi looks between the two, "Bye, Pops?" Hizashi cackled harder at the kid's face.
Hizashi's fiance slowly stalked out of the hospital room.
_____________Hitoshi_______________
Huh?
 They're letting Hitoshi stay home by himself. Pops only allowed that if there was no other choice.
Hitoshi's not one to look the gift horse in the mouth, he thinks as he clambered into the car. "Dad?" He asks, "Why did Pops attempt to convince you to leave?"
His Dad glanced back at him. "I don't know."
Pops wouldn't do that for no reason. There had to be one. Why wouldn't his Dad tell him?
"Are you sure?" Hitoshi tried.
"Yes." His Dad didn't glance back this time. Oh well. Hitoshi was excited. No. Not excited, but eager to go threw Izuku's stuff. He'd start as soon as his Dad left. Hitoshi wouldn't get caught.
His Dad parked the car, grabbing the container of nikujaga. Dad waited until Hitoshi got out of the vehicle. Hitoshi ran after his Dad, "What are you rushing for?" Hitoshi's Dad stared at him.
"Uhh. There was a update on one of my games." His Dad didn't look convinced.
"Uh-huh." Damn. He must be worried. He didn't continue questioning.
Hitoshi scampered to his room as his Dad opened the refrigerator. Alright. Now he waits. After minutes of playing video games, Hitoshi notices his Dad standing at the door.
"I'm leaving," Hitoshi's Dad says. Hitoshi scrambles to get up, "Okay."
When Hitoshi hears the door shut, Hitoshi heads to Izuku's room. He won't stay in there for more than three minutes. Hitoshi looked around the room. Where's Izuku's bag? It's not beside his bed or in the closet.
The chime of his phone alarm alerts him to exit the room. As soon as Hitoshi gets out, he takes breaths of fresh-smelling air. Hitoshi can inhale without feeling nausea, so he sits on the couch and thinks.
Where could his stuff be?
Hitoshi knows it's not in his room and doubts the bag is in his Dad and Pops' room. He looks around for hidden things. In the kitchen cabinets, under the bathroom sink, below various objects, and still no backpacks. Izuku either threw away his belongings or was very good at hiding.
"What the fuck does he have to hide?" Hitoshi shouts into the empty house.
______Hizashi is all alone~ For now.________
As Hizashi sat staring at Izuku, he imagined what Hitoshi could be doing. He wonders if Hitoshi and Izuku would get along. Hitoshi may think he's hiding it well, but Hizashi could see the hatred for Izuku.
Izuku did notice, too, and didn't say anything. He didn't tell Shouta or cry to anyone over the phone. Hizashi hopes Izuku will wake up soon. Hitoshi might believe that Izuku was faking this whole thing for attention.
Hizashi had watched Hitoshi as he and Shouta talked about Izuku being quirkless. The younger boy hadn't registered that at all. Hizashi's recollection was interrupted by the door. Well, not the door, but rather Shouta opening the door. "Hey, Sho!" Hizashi grinned.
Shouta stared at him.
"Hello." Ah, yes, awkwardness in full bloom.
"What do we do now?" Hizashi asks his fiance. Shouta sighs,
"I need to test something." Huh?
"Test what?" Hizashi doesn't think something they can do will wake Izuku up.
"We have to leave the room for it." Was it like surgery or something?
"Okay?"
Shouta leads Hizashi out of the room.
"They're turning up the heat. Only in that room they can't risk germs spreading."
 "Why are they securing the room then?" Hizashi points at a man using goo.
"I told you already."
"Okay then." Hizashi's fiance got way too cryptic sometimes.
They stood at the window of Izuku's hospital room.
___________After making it 37 degrees celsius.___________
The duo watches as Izuku sits up, confusion evident on his face.
"....Where am I?" The boy yawns.
Hizashi and Shouta didn't hear that.
"Huh, I was right," Shouta says gravely. He was not smiling.  He wasn't.
"About what?" The love of Shouta's life asks.
"As I said before, Dad had a dragon quirk, which caused him to hibernate sometimes if it was too cold." Shouta tells him exasperatedly.
"Oh. Well, excuse me for thinking it was unimportant."
Notes:
Hitoshi: What does he have to hide?
Me: His life savings and deadly analysis.
Izuku: Deadly!?
For real though.
You guys have to tell me not to add my OC. I'm trying not to but it's so tempting.
Also now I have 60 subscriptions. 60!
Is my fic that good?
Or are people just being nice.
This Izuku hates me. I can write depressed Izuku, but this one isn't supposed to be depressed! JUST CONFUSED!
Hizashi is easy to write, Shouta is okay, Hitoshi is pretty good.
Chapter 5: Yes.
Summary:
Pops gasped over the phone, "You don't want to hear the solution?"
Hitoshi was only half listening at that point. "What solution?"
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Hitoshi had given up an hour ago, the boy's item hidden. A notification popped up, informing him of a call. "Hi, Pops." Hitoshi said, reading the caller's I.D.
"Hi! Hitoshi, guess what?" Hitoshi opens his mouth to respond.
"Izuku woke up!" Hitoshi didn't even get to guess. That wasn't long Izuku wasn't asleep for a day.
Hitoshi rolls his eyes before answering his Pops. "He passed out like two hours ago."
Pops gasped over the phone, "You don't want to hear the solution?"
Hitoshi was only half listening at that point. "What solution?"
"Shouta talked to the doctors about raising the heat in the room, which they agreed due to his glare. And after securing the room, the rose the heat up. Izuku woke up a little after that!" Pops exclaimed like this was the story of the earth's formation.
Hitoshi pretended to be excited to satisfy his Pops. "Wow! That's shocking. What did the heat have to do with it?"
Hitoshi could hear Pops smile through the house. "Shouta says it has to do with their Dad's quirk. Their Dad had a dragon quirk, which caused Izuku to have a minor mutation. It's as if someone had a teleportation quirk but green skin."
Hitoshi hums, "Huh, I didn't know that could happen."
"It usually occurs to people with quirks." Pops responded to his statement, "Anyway, are you coming here while the doctors do doctor stuff, or staying home?"
Hitoshi was frustrated with searching for Izuku's stuff. He also didn't know long the medical exams were.
"I'll come."
"Alright! I'll get you."
"Okay, bye, Pops. Love you." Hitoshi said, standing to put his shoes on.
"I love you too, Hitoshi. Bye!"
Hitoshi sighed.  I guess Izuku is hiding something,  he thinks.
____________Hizashi in the car.____________
Hizashi liked driving, unlike Shouta. Shouta didn't like most things, such as cooking, shopping, and waking up early. Well, he enjoyed shopping for cats, cat stuff, and sweatpants. Hizashi enjoyed the things his fiance didn't. He also enjoyed the hobbies his fiance had.
Hizashi pulled into the driveway, went to the door, and shouted. "I'm here!" The door opened, revealing Hitoshi. "Hey, Pops." Hitoshi stated.
"Didn't we teach you not to open the door for strangers?"
"You're not a stranger."
"I could've been. What would you do then?"
Hitoshi rolled his eyes, "Brainwash you."
"*Gasp* Don't roll your eyes at me!" Hizashi offendedly replied. Hitoshi followed him, not bothering to respond to him.
The drive back to the hospital was quiet, the two inside thinking instead of conversating.
Hizashi wondered if Hitoshi or Izuku would make friends. Izuku might have friends, seeing as Hizashi knows two things about the boy. Izuku liked writing and drawing.
Hitoshi eventually broke Hizashi from his thoughts.
"Um, Pops?"
"Oh-Yeah, Hito?" Hizashi asked, looking back at him.
"We're at the hospital."
"Oh, right." Hizashi gets out of the car, opening the door for his son. Hitoshi copies his actions, but rather than opening the door, Hitoshi closes it.
"Come on, Hitoshi! We're off to see Izuku and Shouta!"
Hitoshi snorts at his pose of one fist in the air. "Seriously, Pops?"
"What do you mean? You're the one laughing at your parent."
The duo talked as they walked to the hospital room.
"We're back!" Hizashi announced, interrupting his and Hitoshi's conversations.
Shouta turns to him, "Oh, Hi. I didn't hear you come in." Now, if someone else said that, you'd think they meant that genuinely. Coming from Shouta, though, you know he said that sarcastically. The man was an underground hero with stealth training.
"Yeah, right, Dad." Hitoshi scoffs. He only lived with them for two years. Hitoshi was unable to detect Shouta's sarcasm.
Izuku was another story. He stared at Hitoshi like he couldn't tell if he was serious.
Hizashi moves on before Hitoshi notices Izuku's gaze. "So, how are you doing little listener?"
Izuku directs his eyes to Hizashi, "I'm fine." The response sounds rehearsed.
Hizashi decides that's not enough for him. "Are you sure, Izuku?"
He wasn't expecting a reply, let alone a laugh.
"I'm doing fine. I didn't think I would get a mutation from Dad. I-He didn't like me much. We weren't similar. I only have his hair."
Shouta was already in his sleeping bag. Hizashi had no idea what to say. "Oh. I'm sorry."
Izuku snorts. "It's good. He was abusive. The police think it was him who killed my mom." The boy got somber when he brought up his mom.
"Do you miss her?" Hitoshi blurts out. Hizashi was nervous now. What would the boy think? Hitoshi said it rudely, like he didn't believe Izuku did.
Izuku smiles sadly. "Of course; she was my second favorite person."
"Second?" Hitoshi sneers. Hizashi doesn't like this. Hitoshi was being disrespectful now.
"Yeah." Izuku says, taking in the impoliteness Hitoshi was exhibiting.
Hitoshi glares, "Who's in first? Your abusive Dad?"
"No. My best friend. He wouldn't go anywhere without me."
"Wouldn't? Where is he now?"
Izuku sighs. "I don't have contact with him. Mom didn't want me to have a phone."
Hizashi interjects. "Hey, how about we stop talking about this?" He had thought of something to say. That was not it.
"Sure." Izuku agreed, Hitoshi looking like he wanted to continue.
"We're going to have to talk about this later-" Hizashi's fiance chooses that moment to wake from his slumber.
"Talk about what?" Shouta asks.
Hitoshi opens his mouth, but before he can say anything, Hizashi speaks.
"These two had a whole arguement-well. It wasn't really an arguement but-"
Shouta stops him, "Wait, we have to talk about feelings?"
"Umm. Yeah pretty much." Hizashi nods.
Shouta looks horrified, as if Hizashi killed a man. "Fuck this."
Izuku doesn't seem to want to do it either. The pressing matter is-
"Don't swear!" Hizashi yells without the use of his quirk.
Notes:
I'm sorry for the short chapter.
You guys need to convince me to not add my oc. I'M BEGGING YOU!
Also, I wrote a bakudeku thing. And in order to add it to this fic, I have to make Izuku trans male. It's when they're in the dorms, so yeah. Katsuki is the same age as Izuku. PLEASE help me decide.
Interesting fact. I keep seeing this one user most fics I read.
The fic I really noticed it was one by nc_november. It was great.
BYE!
Chapter Text
Izuku was released from the hospital yesterday. The doctors wanted him to stay longer, but Izuku vehemently protested. He didn't want to remain in the hospital bed. Shouta signed him out. His brother didn't like hospitals. Hizashi insisted that they listen to the doctors, so when he went to get food, Shouta removed Izuku from the hospital's care. Izuku found that Hizashi was very upset with that course of action. The family would talk about the argument. Izuku doesn't think much needed to be said. Hitoshi didn't like him. Izuku was in the way of Hitoshi and his needs.
Izuku, his brother and soon-to-be brother-in-law, sat in a room with Htoshi. Izuku was in a chair that he found pretty comfy. Hizashi and Shouta were on the sofa, and Hitoshi was stubbornly seated on the floor. Hizashi tried to convince Hitoshi to move into the chair to the left of Izuku. Shouta seemed glad that Hitoshi was wasting their time.
"Fine, " Hizashi gave up, much to the disappointment of Shouta. "We're going to talk about your argument."
"Why?" Izuku asked, "People argued all the time."
Hizashi sighed, "Well, you shouldn't argue about someone's mother who died rencently. Plus, it was concerning when you didn't cry. Now, I want to here Hitoshi's problem with you being here."
Shouta looked caught off guard, "Huh?"
"Sho," Hizashi began, "I know you don't easily interpret others emotions, but you had to have notice Hitoshi's uneasyness upon Izuku's arrival."
"No." Izuku's brother responded confusedly.
Hizashi blinked, "Anyway, Hitoshi, explain."
Izuku wrapped the blanket tighter around himself as Hitoshi spoke.
"My foster siblings would prank me. I knew it'd be the same."
Shouta was in his depth here. "That's not it," Shouta stared at Hitoshi, "There's more to it."
Hitoshi appeared to grow agitated. "No, there's not."
"It's okay, you can tell us." Hizashi attempts to coax him into replying.
Hitoshi surrenders, "Fine. It's because now you have a perfect child. One with a powerful dragon quirk," Izuku thoughtlessly twisted the blanket, "perfect friends and a good personality! Why would you need me anymore? You have a kid with a heroic quirk, not Brainwashing! You're going to abandon me like everybody else!"
"What- No. Hitoshi, you're our son. Izuku's Shouta's little brother. He's not here to take your place. We love you because you're you. No one and I mean no one, can ever replace you." Hizashi quickly assures Hitoshi.
Shouta, on the other hand, raises an eyebrow. "Did you miss the part where we said he was quirkless?"
Hizashi visibly realizes the rest of Hitoshi's sentence. "Yeah, like Shouta said, Izuku's quirkless. We said it multiple times."
"Huh? Really?" Hitoshi wonders.
Shouta answers him. "When we were figuring out which hospital to take Izuku to."
Izuku speaks up for the first time. "My shoes are quirkless people shoes."
"Shit!" Hizashi shrieks, "I forgot you were there Izuku!" He says, hugging Hitoshi.
"That's the point." Izuku sighs.
Hizashi returns to his spot and questions Izuku. "How do you feel about all of this?"
"Neutral, I guess." Izuku apathetically told him. Hitoshi didn't like him, and  Izuku knew this beforehand.
"Can you explain your feelings?"
"I'm used to people hating me, but not before knowing my quirk status. Other than that, I've experienced this before."
"That's sad," Hizashi commented.
"It's just another Tuesday for me." Izuku wasn't lying. Most people hated him and wanted him to leave. Izuku hopes U.A. will be different if he gets in. Many schools have a no-bullying policy, but that doesn't stop bullies. He'll be lucky if people ignore him.
"What are you saying?" Hitoshi asks, staring at the muttering boy beside him.
Izuku hums, "Nothing."
"You were saying something." Hitoshi angrily declared.
"What I said was none of your business." Izuku hates it when he mutters. People always hound him for answers or rudely yell at him. If he doesn't manage to shut up, they kick him. It's not one of those soft kicks to get one's attention. They do it with innate intent to harm.
Hizashi begins speaking, "This is not working out. Hitoshi and Izuku won't magically get along. We need a way for them to get used to each other," he muses.
Izuku expected them to kick him out. That would be much faster than whatever this shit was.
"I don't see how you're going to do that," Hitoshi says, "Doesn't he have nowhere else to go?"
"Yeah. We'll talk again later. You're free to go," Hizashi murmurs. Izuku watches as Hitoshi exits and closes his eyes. The chair was very comfy, and he was already pretty sleepy. He curled up in the chair, a light blue blanket wrapped around him. Izuku was in a deep sleep before Hitoshi closed his door.
_______Shouta______
Huh. Izuku fell asleep almost immediately. Shouta wished h could sleep like that sometimes. He mostly pretended to sleep.
"Aww! He looks adorable!" His fiance squeals, surprisingly not waking Izuku. The boy didn't even stir.
"Yeah. " Shouta had not much more to say. Izuku was in the grey chair, enveloped in a fuzzy blue blanket. Drool came out of Izuku's mouth, landing on his purple shirt. He seemed tiny when sitting in the chair.
Hizashi directed his attention to Shouta now. "What are we going to do? We have nowhere to send Izuku, and Hitoshi doesn't like Nem."
"I don't know. We'd have to introduce Nemuri and Izuku. Maybe Izuku can watch Nemuri."
 Zashi snickers, "Really, Sho? Izuku watch Nemuri?"
"You know she's too chaotic. Besides, she's going to want to meet."
 "I know. I'm not cooking."
"I was going to eat jelly packets." Shouta shrugs.
Hizashi glares playfully, "Nevermind. You need to eat food."
"They are food!" Shouta offendedly scowls.
"No, they're not!"
Chapter Text
Hitoshi watched as Izuku hurried out of the house.
It was only six, and most schools don't start until 8:30. He acted like he had shit to do. Maybe he was. Hitoshi goes back to his room to get dressed for the day. He puts on a striped grey shirt and black jeans.
Well, since he has nothing better to do, he's try he can find Izuku. Hitoshi was pleasantly surprised to find his Pops making breakfast. "Oh, you're awake. Is Izuku awake as well?"
Hitoshi shrugs, "I assume he didn't leave to nap."
Hizashi turns around. "He left? Why? When?" Hitoshi sits down.
"I don't know. He seemed to be in a rush."
Pops raised his eyebrows. "Did he say anything?"
"Not to me, nope." Hitoshi continued his sentence after a little. "I was thinking about seeing what he was in a rush for."
Pops ran back to the food on the stove that was burning. "Okay! Come back for breakfast."
Hitoshi hugs his Pops and exits the house. ---- Hitoshi hadn't seen Izuku yet, and he'd been walking for twenty minutes. He decides he should go back to get breakfast. Ugh. Can't Izuku appear?
Wait, was that? A boy with green hair covered by a beanie walked past a building. Hitoshi dashed up to him. "What are you doing?" Izuku screams in shock at the boy next to him.
"What are you doing?" He said accusingly, beginning to look around.
"I came to find the guy who ran off. Are you going to answer my question?"
"I had stuff to do before school." Izuku doesn't pause in his assessment of the surrounding.
Hitoshi hesitates, "What are you looking for?"
"People." Izuku hums as he then starts to walk.
Hitoshi matches his pace. "Why?"
"They enjoy attacking me."
Hitoshi swallows thickly, "Oh."
"Are you done following me?"
Izuku did seem fine but- "Pops will want to see you," Hitoshi finished.
"Fine," Instead of heading back the way they came, Izuku ducks into an alley.
"Where are you going?" Hitoshi continued to trail after Izuku, "This isn't the way home."
"I'm taking a shortcut."
"You got here like two days ago! How do you know shortcuts?" Hitoshi interrogated Izuku.
"Uh-You don't need to know." Izuku flushed embarrassedly.
Hitoshi wanted to understand why he knew that more. Hold the fucking phone.
"Are you climbing that building?!"
Izuku sheepishly responds, "Yeah. Learning how to do this was effective in getting away from bullies." Bullies? Oh right. Izuku was quirkless.
"Oh." Hitoshi blinks when Izuku makes it to the building roof.
Izuku faces him from the roof. "Are you coming?"
Hitoshi's the one to blush this time, "I don't know how."
"Give me a second." Izuku walks away from the ledge, coming back with a ladder. "Do you keep a ladder up there?"
"No." Izuku drops the ladder. Hitoshi flinches back as the ladder clatters to the floor. Hitoshi slowly picks it up and leans it onto the building. He puts on foot on the first step and gets stopped.
Izuku yells at him from the top, "I think you're supposed to check if it's stable first."
Hitoshi removes his foot and attempts to check the ladder.
Izuku moves the top of it a little. "Try now. It's on you if you fall." Izuku sighs as he steps away from the edge.
Hitoshi climbs the ladder, mentally prepared to fall at any point.
He makes it to the roof in one piece. Izuku doesn't wait up, moving to the opposite edge of the roof. The boy with green hair jumps over the gap between the buildings. "Uh, I'm not sure this is safe," Hitoshi gulps as he observes the space. Izuku turns and sighs again. "It's fine. Besides, don't you want to be a hero? That's what Shouta told me. Heroes can't hesitate."
Hitoshi doesn't appreciate his Dad telling Izuku he wants to be a hero. He didn't know one thing about Izuku. Hitoshi had to admit the boy had a point.
"Jump already," Izuku hurries him. Hitoshi closes his eyes to jump. "Don't close your eyes! You can't catch yourself last minute!" Hitoshi opens his eyes and jumps. His feet barely catch him on the ledge.
"Was that so hard?" Izuku smirks.
"Yes." Hitoshi responds.
Izuku hums, "Well, bravo." Hitoshi and Izuku eventually end up on the final roof.
"What do we do now?"
"Jump."
Izuku annoyingly doesn't offer more than that.
Hitoshi glares, "Jumping off of buildings gets you killed."
Izuku shrugs. "Not if you do it right. There's a fire escape three floors down."
"You want to jump down three fucking stories?" "Yeah, that's what I implied." Izuku scoffs.
"Are you fucking crazy?"
"Sure." Izuku jumps off the roof onto the fire escape.
Hitoshi has no other way to get down, so he follows suit.
"Fuck, I hated that so much. "
"Well, now you only have to walk." Izuku smiles.
"Don't you mean we?" Hitoshi wonders.
Izuku shrugs. "I'm going to practice my parkour."
Hitoshi didn't think Izuku was such a show-off. He wasn't watching whatever flips the boy was going to do. Hitoshi calmly enjoyed his walk to the fire escape. Izuku was standing by the time he finished walking.
"Let's go," Izuku leads Hitoshi home.
Hitoshi isn't shocked when he spotted Pops sitting on the couch.
Pops immediately stood up, "Oh, you're back. What did you do?" Izuku answers before Hitoshi, "Jump off buildings." Pops' expression turns alarmed, "What?" Hitoshi explains since that wasn't something Izuku did.
"We jumped off one building onto another. To get down from one of them, we leaped onto a fire escape." "Phew. Did you walk down?" Izuku rejoins the conversation, pulling out a bag of chips from nowhere.
"Hitoshi did. I jumped down."
"Why?!"
"It was faster," Izuku crunched on a chip after that.
Hitoshi shifts to his Pops. "When's Dad going to wake up?"
Pops blinks, "When he thinks it's logical." "Ah, so at thirty minutes until classes?" "Yep."
Izuku stands from the chair he's sat in every day. "Can I leave now?"
"To go where?"
"I don't know. I'm going to wander up till two minutes before the bell." Izuku throws away his chip bag and pulls out a notebook.
"Why?"
"To avoid bullies."
Chapter 8: Izuku
Notes:
(See the end of the chapter for notes.)
Chapter Text
Izuku doesn't know why he's here. He was walking and ended up at an arcade by the school. It was open, but no one currently occupied it. Izuku could probably find a corner to sit in until three minutes to the bell. He sits there alone as he goes through his analysis of Present Mic. It had a few mistakes here and there that he corrected. He checks his phone and stands up toward the door. Izuku leaves and walks to his school. He makes it to class unscathed, surprisingly.
_____________
Hizashi shouldn't have been shocked. He had gotten bullied because people said his quirk was useless. A quirkless kid definitely would get bullied.
He didn't know what to do, so he woke up his fiance.
"SHO!" Hizashi shouts into their shared bedroom. His fiance opens one eye, then closes it again, promptly ignoring Hizashi's efforts.
Hizashi sighs and yanks the blanket off his bed. Underneath was Shouta in a sleeping bag similar to the one he took to school.
"Get up!" Hizashi tries again, Shouta not bothering to open his eyes.
Hizashi eventually had no choice but to enlist the help of Darth Vader. After pleading with the queen, Darth Vader ultimately helps Hizashi.
The cat elegantly enters their room. Darth Vader sits barely out of Shouta's reach.
Shouta struggles to touch the cat and exits his unzipped sleeping bag to pet her. When he does, she runs out of the room.
"Fuck," Hizashi's fiance mutters.
"Now, you're up. Hitoshi  and  Izuku both are at school now." Hizashi laughs.
"I want more sleep." Shouta sighed, going to the bathroom to brush his teeth.
Hizashi had luckily gelled his hair earlier and gotten dressed. He walked to the living room and saw it.
A class's tests were on the table. Great.
He had forgotten to grade his students' papers. Plenty of them probably struggled anyway. English was too different from Japanese. Luckily though, the class who took the test was his last class. He would grade them during lunch.
"Sho!" He called, shoving the papers in his bag, "Are you ready?"
"Yeah. It doesn't take me forever. Unlike  someone. " Shouta responds from the kitchen. He exits, holding a mug of coffee, looking quite unhappy to be up so early.
Hizashi hums, decidedly ignoring the jab at him. "Did you grade your papers?"
"Yeah, I did them the moment I got them. You know, like a good teacher." Shouta joked.
Hizashi pouts, "Hey! I am a good teacher!" He crossed his arms and rolled his eyes. "There was too much going on."
"You could have done it before Izuku arrived."
"Whatever."
Hizashi lifts his bag from the floor and walks to his car. Shouta followed after with his  graded  papers.
_______________
Izuku is in class now. He's staring at his vandalized desk, littered with slurs. Izuku had detention because of his classmates, but the teachers couldn't be bothered to stay. He would end up at home at the same time as everyone else.
"Aizawa!" The teacher called, "Answer the question." Oh. Izuku's teacher must've called his name multiple times because people were laughing.
Izuku focuses on the board. He had to simplify 924/1092. Izuku begins solving it in his head.
"Hurry up!" The interruption caused him to start over.
Izuku swiftly responds, "It's simplest form is 11/13."
"No," Izuku's teacher is caught off guard due to the quirkless of getting it right. "The answer is 22/26." All he did was double Izuku's answer.
Teachers don't call on Izuku for the rest of the day. Izuku gets suicide bated by a guy with a quirk that allows him to change the color of his nails. He walks to his brother's house. Surprisingly not getting beat up.
Izuku finds the key in the welcome mat. Yes, in. There was a little seam that was velcro, so he opened that. Then Izuku unlocked the door and placed the key back. Hitoshi wasn't home either. No one was. It was perfect timing for Izuku to hide his bag again.
He rushes to his room in case anyone arrives. Izuku pulled up the floorboard, wary of getting splinters. He heaves his bag into the slot.
"I'm bored." He says to no one at all. Izuku shoves his phone into his pocket and exits the house.
There wasn't much to see. It was a small neighborhood. Izuku lived in an apartment, so he only knew the one Katsuki lived in. He misses it. Most of his memories were from there. He wonders who moved in after him.
I S T R U G G L E D to write this. I've been writing a fantasy bakudeku though!
Vanilla Ice cream is my favorite but I pour Glacier Cherry Zero Gatorade in it and it was FUCKING GREAT.
Is a stage name not a name? My brother said I knew nothing about Lupe Fiasco. I told him I knew his name was Lupe Fiasco. He says 'thAt's nOt hIS nAMe. tHaT's HiS sTaGe name.'
A name is something you go by. So your username, legal name, preferred name, stage name, and others ARE YOUR NAME RIGHT? This dumb highschooler motherfucker said I was wrong.
AND THAT HE WAS LOSING BRAINCELLS. So like a gifted and talented child, I respond with "What Braincells?" Because this bitch doesn't know his FUCKING COLORS!
School just started and I wake up at six, get home at five, and go to sleep at 8:30.
Hi! Yes I know I didn't update for a month.
Chapter Text
Katsuki hates his life. His best friend's mother died, and his best friend went missing.
Katsuki's hag got harsher than fucking usual.
Mainly because government officials or whatever won't tell Katsuki's mother where Izuku is. They say they can't reveal a minor's information to someone who is not a relative. That's in case of emergency.
Deku, Izuku, Midoriya, or some other name entirely.
Katsuki has no clue what happened to him. He does remember Izuku mentioning a brother or half-brother. Katsuki can't recall his teachers' names. This information wouldn't be of use anyway. The school has bothered Katsuki since Izuku's not there. Fuck, he wanted to see him again.
Katsuki stood abruptly from his chair, throwing his pencil down. He shoved his black shoes with red paint streaks on his feet. The red stripes were from Deku trying to paint Katsuki's shoes red so he wouldn't be alone.
Katsuki went downstairs and spoke loudly.
"I'm heading the fuck out!"
The hag yelled back, "Did you do your homework, brat? Why are you leaving?"
 Katsuki's father continued to scrub the dishes without pause. "Yes. I'm leaving to do shit!"
Katsuki slammed the door closed and ran. He had no destination in mind.
Yet, he still kept an eye out for someone with green hair. After an hour of running, he stood at Deku's old apartment. To his utter shock, Izuku was there, standing at the door. "What the fuck, Deku?" Katsuki gaped.
Izuku turned, grinning at Katsuki. "Kacchan! What are you doing here?" The boy raced up to him and hugged Katsuki. "I was wondering where the fuck you were, dumbass!" "Oh. Remember how my mom died?" Izuku asked, "Of course," Katsuki responded. "Well, my half-brother and his fiance took me in. Then, I forgot where you lived?" Katsuki scoffed and rolled his eyes,
"Typical. Anyway, is your life shitty?" "Uhh, not really. Sho-nii and his fiance are nice. I don't know how I feel about Hitoshi." Katsuki raised an eyebrow or attempted to anyway. "Who the hell is Hitoshi, Izuku?"
Izuku blinks, "Hitoshi's my nephew. He's fourteen, I think."
"Your brother already has a kid?" "He was adopted, and Sho's twenty-five." Katsuki sighs, "Only you could have such a strange family." Izuku's eyes widen, and despite Izuku's movement, the dragonfly remains on his shoulder. "I should probably go back soon. Bye."
"Oi! Who the fuck said I wasn't coming, stupid nerd?"
Izuku glances at him from his skateboard. "Those mean the opposite." Katsuki glares, "Shut it!" The duo walk, people around them carrying on with their lives. "Hano-chan, isn't that green-haired guy cute?"
  A girl with yellow hair elbows her friend. The friend replies, "He would be, but he's quirkless, Yash."  "Gross, that's so misleading." Katsuki wants to cause bodily harm to these girls. While Katsuki thinks through their murders, the pair arrive at the apartment.
Izuku walks in first, Katsuki trailing after him. They ate, seeing as there was food left out for Izuku. Katsuki's a little glad. He may be an extrovert, but he has social anxiety. That's part of the reason he's aggressive. Izuku has social anxiety as he is worse than Katsuki's. Who Katsuki assumes is Izuku's brother enters.
The black-haired male raises an eyebrow. Katsuki hopes it's male because he's used to only being male and female. He didn't want to offend him. "Whose he, Izuku?" The person asked. Izuku smiles slightly, "This is my best friend Kacchan."
Katsuki plucks Izuku, "Bakugou Katsuki. You?"
Ugh, this was already awkward. The black-haired person probably hated him now.
Katsuki sounded too gruff. What Katsuki despised about human interaction was human interaction. He gets a nod in return, "Aizawa Shouta. Did you eat, Izuku?" "Yeah." Izuku is much more subdued now. Aizawa turns around, exiting the room with nothing else to say.
Izuku faces Katsuki. "Are you leaving soon? It's a little over seven." Katsuki scoffed, "Hell no. I'm staying over tonight." Ugh, great. A statement like that is going to get him kicked out. "Okay. Follow me to my room."
Izuku walks with energy. Katsuki was not expecting this. There were no All Might figures or posters. The floors were cozy and wooden. It had blue walls. Huh. It's empty, aside from the bed, dresser, and closet.
"I don't know where you plan to sleep, Kachan." Izuku hums. Katsuki returns his attention to the boy beside him. "Ask your brother and is fiance."
"I don't want to bother them, n-not that you're a bother. I mean-" Katsuki sighs and shoves Izuku onto his bed. "It's okay. Move over, loser." Izuku slides to the other side, allowing Katsuki to scoot in. "I'm not tired yet."
Katsuki sits up. "Talk, fucker." "About what?" Katsuki has no clue what he meant, either. Fuck it, "Tell me what happened after your mom died." "I got sent to the police. They weren't helpful. The hospital records showed Mom had a brother. That's where Shouta came in. I wasn't there when they handled the rest. " "Wait, why did they go to the police first?" Izuku shrugs, "I don't know, I'm only 15."
 "Okay, continue shithead, what happened next?" Katsuki watches as Izuku animatedly recounts what happened when he arrived. "Hitoshi, your "nephew" sounds like an asshole. Also, explain the "nephew" part, Deku?" Katsuki is skeptical that a twenty-something-year-old has a thirteen-year-old. That could happen under unfortunate circumstances, but that seems unlikely. Izuku hums.
"Shouta and Hizashi adopted Hitoshi, maybe two years ago? By the way, Kacchan, he's justified." "How the hell is he justified?" How is it okay for someone to be rude for no reason? Katsuki doesn't have much room to talk.
He's always respectful enough to teachers. "Look, imagine this. You have an uncle coming to live with you two years after adoption. Your uncle is only two years older than you, and you don't feel secure in your position. Wouldn't you be scared?" Izuku asks. Katsuki stares. "I don't get scared. I would intimidate them out of staying there." Izuku sighs exasperatedly. "I forgot you haven't experienced bullying. His quirk apparently isn't favorable."
Katsuki gasped dramatically. "Damn, you don't know his quirk, nerd. Shocking."
"Shush," Izuku whined.
Notes:
There are major inconsistencies that I need to fix. So, as much I as hate to say it, this fic will be underconstruction.
By the way :
This is about duck rape. It has traumatized me.
Summary for newest fic:
"It's also immoral to cast spells on others!" Iida says enthusiastically. He was really against using magic on others.
An aesthetic slurp comes from Todoroki. "Yeah. I'm not sure that will help Bakugou." He exits the conversation quickly.
Ashido wilts, "Aww! I thought Bakugou would finally chill. I mean, I get it if he dislikes his dad. He should give you guys a chance!" Izuku wonders what Bakugou's dad had to do with magic.
Uraraka chimes in. "You're not going to be able to convince someone like him."
"Why not?" Kirishima says with furrowed brows. Iida mirrors his expression, offputting by how Kirishima and Bakugou are friends. Izuku supposes cussing isn't 'manly.'
"W-well, " Izuku tentatively starts, "he isn't going to agree to disagree. That means to get him to listen, you have to agree with him." Izuku met people like Bakugou. His mom and dad knew even more.
I'm not done with it yet!
Chapter Text
It took three days. Three fucking days. Hitoshi kindly spoke to Izuku, helped him, and hung out with him for three days.
Then guess what?
He exploded, and he suddenly started getting angry with him.
Whenever Izuku ate, walked, spoke, or even smiled, a snarky remark had to roll off his tongue. Izuku supposes that he was holding in the comments before. Some seemed to lurk deep in Izuku's brain, always coming back.
Izuku tries to hold it together. Hitoshi was an asshole.
At this point, Izuku couldn't grab a quick snack without remembering the day Hitoshi said, "Really, you're going to eat more?"
That one stung.
Izuku hugged himself and took a deep breath as he exited his room.
He should, logically, tell Hizashi or Sho-nii about Hitoshi's words. Also, according to himself, he should let it happen because "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me," and all that.
Izuku sighs and sprints to the door, opens it, and steps out. Thank goodness he was fast enough that Hitoshi didn't get to say anything.
He contemplates using energy to lift his phone and text Katsuki. No, he doesn't feel like it. Izuku doesn't want to do anything, but being in a house where he gets constantly insulted doesn't sound fun.
Izuku pauses, feeling the heat the concrete absorbs from the sun. Wait, he shouldn't notice that through shoes.
"Shit," he's not wearing shoes. Izuku didn't think he was that stupid, but here he is. He swung one of his feet towards a stray rock, shoving it away.
"Ow!" He hissed as his toe that collided with the rock began to throb with pain. Izuku quickly hobbled back to the house, and every pebble or leaf under his feet felt more painful than the last.
Maybe he was exaggerating a little, but the dry dirt clung to his toes, making walking harder. How did he miss this?
Izuku peels open the door slightly, wiping his dirty feet on the rug outside. He hopes no one notices him walking without shoes.
He snuck into the kitchen, wet a paper towel, and wiped his feet. Izuku hurriedly marched to his room and yanked a pair of socks from his drawer, hopping as he struggled to put them on.
"Are your feet too big for your socks now?" Hitoshi jeered.
Izuku pressed his lips together. "No," he mumbled. Honestly, that insult was subpar because he's still growing, and eventually, his feet will be too big for his socks. Hitoshi's words still made Izuku want to slap him and make him cry. Izuku was going to be a better person than he always was.
So he gently shoved Hitoshi out of his way. Hitoshi may have stumbled and fallen, but he asked for it.
Izuku skipped out the door, but not before putting on his shoes. He walks to the store, debating whether or not he should get a snack, as he didn't eat breakfast, nor did he eat lunch. Izuku did not get anything worth eating as a meal.
He got hi-chews.
They were delicious.
Anyway, he decided to go to Katsuki's house. Izuku walked past the line of trash bags, around the door, and directly to the window. Luckily for him, Katsuki's room was downstairs.
The plan had one flaw. There was no way to get in through the window.
It was one of those windows with the locks and a net to block bugs.
Izuku suddenly realized, based on Katsuki's room, that his family was getting rid of redundant or frivolous things.
He slams his fist against the wall by the window to get Katsuki's attention.
The boy inside flinched and whirled around, his eyes settling on the pane of glass.
