Chapter 1: His Return
Summary:
When God was on vacation, He didn't want to worry about anyone but himself for a bit, so he had no idea what was going on outside.
Notes:
This is my first fic! hope you all enjoy!
Chapter Text
God was omniscient, yes, but had to think about what He wanted to know in order to know it. He also wasn't supposed to have favorites, but anyone who knew Him would know that His little Luci was His pride and joy.
"I'm back bitches!" God strolled through the main palace of heaven, having been on vacation for quite a bit. "Sera, me going on a vacation after that last universal reset was the best idea you've ever had!" Sera made a awkward and extremely ungraceful flapping-slide motion as she realized that God was back home.
"Oh! Sir! You are back! It's only been 10,000 years!" Sera was afraid and shocked, but doing her best to hide it. She quivered in her pale gray-blue shoes. "How have You been, my Lord?" Sera smiled tightly, doing her best to keep her composure (but not doing it very well).
"Oh, it's okay, I might as come back now, good time as any" God said as He waved His hand at Sera. "Anyways, where's-"
"My Lord! My Lord!" Emily bolted into the room, grabbing God's hand and shaking it up and down.
"What is it, my child?" God asked, giving her all the attentiveness of an extremely good parent.
"One of the sinners got redeemed!" Emily squealed excitedly.
"A what?"
"A sinner, someone who sinned on Earth, then died and went to Hell?" Emily was clearly confused.
"Sinned?! Died?! Hell?! This universe was supposed to be perfect!"
"Uhm, a sin is just a bad action, sinners are humans who've sinned, people die because Eve, the replacement wife for Adam, originally sinned and passed that down onto her children."
"Okay but what is Hell? I've been gone a while."
"Okay... uh, Hell is like, the holding ground for evil, people go there because they did bad things in life, or they're demons who were born there."
"That makes sense, except why does evil exist in the first place? Why did Eve sin?
"She was encouraged to pursue knowledge, by the way, why is that a sin?"
"I don't know! Who encouraged her?"
"Lilith, Adam's first wife, wanted to show her knowledge, and Lucifer helped her because he wanted humans to dream."
"Aw, that's so like him! What happened to them, though?"
"Lucifer and Lilith, fell..."
"WHAT!?"
"...into Hell."
"NOooooooo... MY BABY FELL!" God fell to the floor, sobbing. Emily was quite taken aback.
Sera quickly bowed and shuffled out of the room before God could remember that she was the one who deceived Him. Emily knelt next to God and softly asked him, "My Lord, perhaps we can visit Hell, and you will be able to see Lucifer again."
God sat up, grinning. "Emily, you are now my second favorite." He continued without waiting for a response. "Let's go RIGHT NOW!"
Sir Pentious, drawn to the commotion, poked his head into the room. "What'sss going on in here?"
Emily noticed him, and said to God, "My Lord, would you mind if a few souls tagged along? I want to bring a few friends."
God, only caring about the prospect of seeing His favorite child again, said, "Yeah, sure, whatever. I don't particularly care if you want to bring a soul or two." He then clapped his hands twice, making Sir Pentious yelp as he was teleported next to them. Molly then popped into place a few feet away (about a meter is you use the metric system).
"Ack! Where am I!?" asked Molly in her Italian/New Yorker accent.
"We're going to go visit Hell!" Emily said cheerfully.
"I'll be able to see Missss Cherri and the ressst of my friendsss!"
"I'm gonna get to see Tony!"
"That seems like a positive response to me!" Emily exclaimed, then turned to God. "I think we should stop by the Hazbin Hotel first."
"Sounds good to me," He said, then snapped his fingers, creating a portal.
The four of them stepped through, each of them ready and willing to literally face Hell to see the ones they cared about.

Chapter Text
God stepped out of the portal to Hell, shocked at the heat of the place. Emily’s six wings twitched nervously, not even noticing the temperature. Molly glanced around excitedly, she breathed in the air and bounced on her toes, the heat reminding her of whenever her family visited Italy in the summer. Sir Pentious, having been in Hell since the 1800s, was used to everything.
The group approached the hotel, quickly becoming tired by the long and steep climb. Emily walked alongside her father. The young seraphim was intent on asking God some questions.
“So, is it okay if I call you Dad?”
“Sure!”
“So, Dad, since you’ve been gone so long, you probably don’t know about Charlie, my niece, I guess. She’s Lucifer’s daug-”
“WHAT!! Daughter! I have a grandbaby and no one told me! I can’t believe my baby had a baby!” “Don’t some of the other angels have kids? Don’t those make them your grandchildren too?” Emily asked, confused. “Those don’t matter as much.” God said flippantly. God then snapped His fingers, teleporting the four of them to the door of the Hazbin Hotel.
“YOU COULD DO THAT THIS ENTIRE TIME?!” Molly and Sir Pentious shouted simultaneously. God waved His hands at them dismissively, not particularly caring about the two winners.
Wanting to know more about His granddaughter, God turned to Emily and asked, “Emily, do you mind telling me a bit about Charlie? I want to know more about her before I meet My granddaughter.” “Well, she’s tall, taller than me, at least 6’6(2 meters). She has long, blonde hair, tied in two places. She almost always wears a bright red tuxedo with shoulder pads, as well as black and white tap shoes. She has large eyes with round eyelashes and yellow sclera and red irises. Oh, and she has very pale skin with rosy red cheeks.”
“Yah couldn't've have said all that BEFORE we were at da damn DOOR?!” Molly snapped sassily. “Sorry Molls.” Emily said abashedly.
“I will knock because I know the princccessss and the other residentsss.” Sir Pentious said nervously. God nodded and waved the snake winner towards the door. Sir Pentious slithered towards the door, raising his fist as his tail twitched nervously. He knocked and waited for a response.
It was a peaceful day in the Hazbin Hotel. Everyone was relaxing. There were two new residents, who were in their rooms, Vaggie and Charlie were cuddling on the couch, Husk and Angel Dust were chatting at the bar counter, Lucifer was petting Kiki on the carpet, Alastor was somewhere in the city, Nifty was setting up of her Roach Puppet Shows, and Cherri Bomb was sitting on an armchair on her phone. When Charlie heard Sir Pentious’s knock, she reluctantly untangled herself from her girlfriend. As the princess opened the door, she saw her friend in the doorway, so she pulled him in the doorway and hugged him tightly.
“I can’t believe you’re here!” Charlie squealed happily “Let me introduccce you to sssome of my freindsss. I believe you already know Missss Emily, Thisss is Missss Molly, and, your grandfather, God-” “Hello there! Nice to meet you! I’m God, your grandfather, although he just said that.” God gestured to Sir Pentious before hugging His granddaughter. “Do you mind calling your father over? I want to talk to him.” “Uhm, ok, DAD!” At Charlie's call, Lucifer ran into the front hall, worried that his daughter might be in trouble. He skidded to a stop when he saw God. “Dad?”
Everyone was sitting in the living room except Alastor. When Sir Pentious had slithered into the living room, Cherri Bomb had sat up and had practically lunged out of her chair in order to drag him down so he could sit next to her. As Charlie introduced everyone, God made another couch so He and Emily could sit down. Molly had been left to stand.
“So, you are, like, God. As in, the creator of the universe, the ‘father’ of all life.” Angel was very confused.
“Pretty much.”
“Oh, ah, ok.”
“SOOOOOOOOoooooooo” Molly dragged out the word until everyone was looking at her. “Your name is Angel Dust?”
“Yeah.”
“Huh. It’s just that, you look so much like…”
“Who?”
“ANTHONY!” Molly practically tackled her twin brother as she realized what his identity was. Angel was barely able to choke out a small “what?” over his sister’s crushing hug. “I can’t believe it’s you!! You’re here! You’re alive-ish? Anyways, it’s ME, your sister, Molly.” “Molly? MOLLS! It’s you!” “It’s me! ”The two wandered off for their own separate conversation.
“So, Luci,” God started, “Yes, Father?” Lucifer asked apprehensively. “I’ve been thinking, It’s been, what, 10,000 years?” “Yes.” “So, we need to go out. You, me, and Charlie. Emily too, if she wants to.” “Sure, Dad, I’d love to.” Emily said with a small smile. Charlie added, “Grandfather, may my girlfriend Vaggie join us?” “Of course, my dear.”
While this was happening, Molly and Angel were having the following conversation, “Tony, since it’s been about 80 years since we last spoke, we need to have a day OUT.” “Yeah, but we should bring my friends Husk and Cherri Bomb.” “I’m so glad you have friends! Can we bring Sir Pentious too?” “Of course we can bring Pentious!” “Great!”
As Molly and Angel re-entered the living room, Charlie stood up. “ Hey Angel, Molly! Me, Vaggie, my dad, Emily, and God are all going out to do… something. Did you two make any plans?” “Yeah, me and Tony are gonna go out! We’re inviting Sir Pentious, Cherri Bomb, and Husk.” The three souls nodded in their assent.
“Let’s go!” Molly exclaimed.
Charlie decided that the best place to start for the group was the Hellfire Cafe, a place where Charlie and Vaggie had been on many dates. The second the barista saw the group of powerful beings, she froze in shock. “Uhm, uhm, the usual?. ” Charlie smiled and said “Yes, and whatever they want.” Emily, Lucifer, and God all gave their orders. After picking up their coffees and pastries, the group sat down to talk.
“So, how’s My favorite little Luci been?” God cooed, leaning over and pinching his son’s cheek. “I’ve been fine, Dad.” Lucifer responded, brushing off his father’s hand. “I’ve picked back up rubber duck making.” “Oh that’s lovely! You always loved doing that when you were younger!” “Yeah…” Emily interrupted the family drama to ask Charlie, “So what’s it like living down here your entire life?” “It’s pretty nice. I mean, it’s literally Hell, so, y’know. But it’s not that bad. It could be better, but when it’s all you’ve ever known, you begin to appreciate the little things.” “That sounds nice,” Emily smiled. “Vaggie was it?” God asked. “Yes sir.” “Oh, you don’t need the formalities! Anyways! I can’t believe my grandbaby has a girlfriend!” “Yep, our three year anniversary is next week! I’m so glad I found her on that extermination day.” Charlie leaned into her girlfriend.
“Wait, what’s an extermination? Is that like, for Hell pests?” Charlie blinked slowly at her grandfather before responding “The exterminations are so Hell doesn’t rise up against Heaven. It’s supposed to take pace once a year at the end of the year, but it took place six months early this year. Pretty much a bunch of exterminator angels, like Vaggie, but she quit, but they came down to kill sinners, because they’re all immortal.” “WHAT?!” God looked horrified. “I know! Isn’t it terrible how those human souls were slaughtered for no good reason!” Emily interjected. “I guess, but WHAT IF LUCI OR CHARLIE GOT CAUGHT IN THE CROSSFIRE?! THEY COULD HAVE GOTTEN HURT!” “Don’t worry Grandfather, only sinners were allowed to get hurt, until the last one, but we were able to fight back.” “Hmmm, okay.”
“Father, may I ask you a question?” Lucifer asked. “Of course!” “Why are you here? Do you need something from me or something? It's been like ten-thousand years.” “No I just wanted to see you again, I was on vacation for a while, so I told the other angels to take care of the new universe, and you. I’m sorry I didn’t contact you- I missed you the whole time, but Sera convinced me to ‘take some time for Myself’ or something.” “Why me specifically? I have other siblings.” Lucifer said, growing increasingly frustrated. God reached over to His son and patted him on the head, “Because you’re My favorite chi-" "Stop that! Stop pretending that you like me better than the others because you want to make me feel better after ignoring me for ten millennia!” Lucifer yelled as he shot up and slammed his hands onto the table. “Lucifer…” God said, looking hurt. “How about we go do something else?” Charlie suggested with a stressed smile. “The park nearby is very nice in the summer.” Vaggie agreed.
Molly was dragging the group of souls around the shopping mall that Charlie had dropped them all off at. Both Cherri Bomb and Sir Pentious as well as Angel Dust and Husk were holding hands.
Molly pointed at a dress in the window of a dress shop, “Hey Tony look at this! Doesn’t this remind you of that time we went to the opera?” “Oh yeah it kinda does! Ooh look over there, Molls, doesn’t that look exactly like the old plush that Arnaldo used to have?” “Oh yeah it does!”
“Wait, who the fuck is Arnaldo?!” Cherri asked, barely containing her laughter. “Oh my gosh, we can finally vent about him! So, our dad’s sister’s brother-in-law’s monster of a child was named Arnaldo. Complete dick, always talking over people, being the most condescending twat imaginable, and he was always enabled by his equally as dickish mom! Oh, he also had the most gross, disgusting ideas of women. And he never failed to make disparaging comments about Anthony’s sexuality! It was honestly awful.” “Fuck. That sucks.” Cherri said “Hope he got exterminated” “Me too!” The twins said in harmony.
“We ssshould go get lunch, '' Sir Pentious suggested. Everyone else agreed so they went to the food court.
After the disaster at the coffee shop, the group had decided to go to the park that was next to the cafe. Charlie was showing her aunt (Emily being Charlie’s aunt makes me feel weird but I’ve already committed to this family tree) and grandfather all the different plants and animals.
As Charlie turned after pointing out a bird, she noticed Emily was practically being swarmed by the animals. “OH! Em are you okay?!” Charlie asked, concerned. “I’m fine, don’t worry.” Emily responded with a smile as a snake that would be taller than Angel Dust if it could stand, slithered out of the undergrowth and wrapped itself around the Seraphim. Emily blinked at the reptile head staring at her. “This is fine” She decided out loud. “Is this normal? Should I be concerned?” God asked, concerned for his child. “Oh, it’s fine. Animals naturally like angels, especially hell animals, because most have never met angels before in their entire existence. Emily’s a non-fallen seraphim, so the animals will obviously love her.” “That makes sense, I guess.” God gave a slight frown. The four of them all gathered around Emily to help try and pry off the snake. When it didn’t work, they were able to shift the nope rope up around the younger seraphim’s shoulders, however parts of the snake’s body were still wound around her torso and arms.
When they were done, they stepped back to admire their work. All of them looked at Emily, who looked a bit like a Disney princess.
“Heh, y’know, this reminds me of Eden.” Lucifer joked, because of the snake. Charlie giggled a little, making Lucifer smile. “What happened in Eden?” God asked, confused. “Uh, I met my wife?” Lucifer tried. “Oh, ok” God stopped pressing it as he saw his son’s obvious discomfort. Using this as a distraction, Charlie was able to pull Vaggie into a small clearing a good ways away.
“What’s this for?” Vaggie asked. ”I just wanted a moment to be alone.” Charlie responded with a soft smile. Charlie then held out her hands, palms facing her girlfriend. Vaggie pressed her palms against her girlfriend’s before curling her fingers in and pulling her closer. “I love you so much” Vaggie said as she tilted her head at her girlfriend. “I know, and I love you even more.” The two leaned closer, noses almost touching. Vaggie had to go on her tiptoes to reach her girlfriend’s face. She reached her left hand up to touch Charlie’s face. After a moment, Vaggie moved her hand to the back of her lover’s head, running her fingers through Charlie’s thick blonde hair.
The two girls then kissed, wrapping their arms around each other. For several long moments, they stood still, enjoying the other’s presence. Eventually, they pulled apart, arms still around each other. “We should head back to the others.” Charlie said, giggling softly.
As the pair returned, still holding hands, God waved them over. “I’m hungry, how about we go get lunch?” “I know a great spot,” Charlie said, smiling.
As the group of souls navigated around the mall looking for the food court, Molly spotted a jewelry shop. The five of them entered the store, looking around. Molly picked up matching gold bangles with pink, white, black, and red charms to give to Angel and Husk, the cat demon her brother was making very obvious lovey-dovey eyes at, a silver and ivory clip-on earring for Sir Pentious, and a matching earring in pink and red for Cherri Bomb. Angel Dust selected a pair of pearl earrings for Molly, a ruby-studded choker for Cherri Bomb, and a steel bracelet with small black and red gems shaped like playing card symbols for Husk. Sir Pentious picked a garnet pendant on a rose gold chain for Cherri Bomb, and a black choker with a gold dome attached for Molly. Husk chose to get a pink tourmaline ring for Angel Dust, and a brass chain bracelet for Molly. Cherri Bomb grabbed a silver ring for Sir Pentious, and a pink and white crystal bracelet for Angel Dust. When the group went to the front of the store to pay for their items, the cashier pulled a gun on the five and yelled “GIVE ME ALL YOUR MONEY AND I’LL LET YOU LEAVE WITH YOUR LIVES!” The group then looked at each other before beating him up and leaving without paying.
Eventually the group was able to find the food court. After getting their food, Cherri Bomb grabbed Sir Pentious’s arm. “Hey, can I talk to you for a second?” She asked before pulling him away without waiting for a response. Angel smirked at the other two people at the table. Molly smiled and shrugged. Husk rolled his eyes with a small smile.
As Cherri dragged Sir Pentious away, he asked, “Wait, where are you taking me?” Cherri yanked Pentious behind a column. Cherri then smacked him. “OW! Missss Bomb, what wasss that for?!” “That was for kissing me and admitting your love before getting yourself killed!” Cherri whisper-shouted before quietly berating him for several minutes. “I’m sor-'' Pentious was cut off by Cherri pulling him in and kissing him before pushing him away. “I’m confusssed.” “Hmph. I also wanted to… talk… to you… about something.” Cherri Bomb sighed before continuing. “You mean… a lot… to me. When I lost you, I… was devastated. I thought I would never see you again. I want you to be safe.” “Oh, you-you mean a lot to me too.” Cherri smirked, “I figured, k’now, because you declared your undying love to me. Remember?” “Oh, right. I forgot about that.” “How could you forget?!” Cherri kissed Sir Pentious again before kissing the back of his hand, causing Pentious to blush violently. “So, I thought I’d finally ask, Sir Pentious, do you want to become my boyfriend?” “YESSS! Yesss yesss yess!” “So, we’re dating.” “I am ssso happy with thisss development.” The two then returned to the others. “So,” asked Angel Dust, "did you have a nice… talk?” “Yeah.” said Sir Pentious giddily, which only added to Angel’s suspicions. As the group sat around the table and ate, Cherri told Husk and the twins about her and Sir Pentious. After they finished eating, Molly suggested that the newly formed couple go off and do things as partners. The other three went to check out a clothing store with the unoriginal name of “CLOTHES”.
Molly and Angel cycled through several different outfits, with Husk judging them. Eventually they found outfits they enjoyed. As they walked away, Molly pulled her twin closer and snapped a photo. Angel then helped his sister create a Sinstagram account and friended her.
Molly posted the photo, captioning it, “Hanging out with my twin!! @the_real_angel_cakes, I wished I was able to see him earlier! If you can’t tell, I am a winner, and I’m visiting Hell! I’ve missed you, Tony! My brother is my world. <3”
The twins were just catching up with Husk when Molly noticed a lot of notifications coming from her phone like, “I never knew Angel had a sister!” or, “How did you get here from Heaven?” However, there were also many more negative comments such as, “There’s no way she’s related to THE Angel Dust” or “Another bitch lying for attention.” Molly showed the comments to her brother, who showed them to Husk. He looked irritated, and told Molly, “There’s no reason to let those kinds of people make you upset. You don’t need the approval of other people. The people who care about you will make you feel good, as long as you care about them. Make sure to surround yourself with people who make you happy.” Molly smiled and said, “Thank you, Husk.” She then gave Angel Dust a look that meant, If you don’t marry him, I will kidnap you and force you to marry him. Angel looked slightly concerned before saying, “If we’re all done, then I’m going to text Cherri and tell her that we’re going to be at the front, so I can call Charlie so we can get picked up.”
The restaurant idea had gone surprisingly well. After a calm lunch, they were able to talk somewhat peacefully. God had told the other four about his travels, with many promises to take them if they wanted.
After lunch, the group wandered around until Charlie got a call from Angel telling her that they were ready to go. The ride home was quiet, the only mildly interesting thing happening being Angel Dust telling Vaggie about Cherri and Pentious’s relationship. Vaggie then shared it to Charlie, who had suspected it from the way the pair were leaning into each other.
When they had gotten back, God asked, “Y’know how you told me about how the other sins are your aunts and uncles?” “Yeah?” “Well, how about we invite them over so we can celebrate your anniversary next week?” “How about just a few? I’m only really close to three of them.” “That’s fine! We can just meet the first half of them!” “Okay, I'll call Oz, Bee, and Mam later today.” “Sounds good!” God gave a thumbs up.

Chapter Text
Charlie decided to call her Uncle Asmodeus before the other two. “Hey Ozzie! How are you?” “Hi Charlie! I’ve been good, how about you?” “I’ve been great!.” “That’s wonderful! Now do you need anything, or are you just saying hi?” “I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my hotel so you can meet my girlfriend, our three year anniversary is next week.” “What! You’ve been dating for three years without telling me?!” “Well, you didn’t tell me about your boyfriend for like, 9 years.” “That’s fair.” “I think you should bring Fizz so I can meet him. Oh, also God’s here.” “WHAT?!” “Bye, see you soon!” Charlie hung up before Asmodeus could fully comprehend what Charlie said.
Beelzebub was a much calmer call. “Sup, girl, how’ve you been?” “I’ve been great!” “You should come to my parties! I haven't seen you in FOREVER!” “I know, how would you like to come over to my hotel to meet my girlfriend for our anniversary?” “Sure!” When Charlie told her about God, she said, “Well it’s about time He paid attention to us. See you tomorrow Little Goat! By the way I’m bringing my boyfriend Tex.” “Sounds good, love you Bee!” “Love you too!”
Finally, Charlie took a deep breath before calling Mammon. “Hi! Uncle Mam, How are you?” “Ugh, my star employee quit, and his replacements aren’t as good. But aside from that I’m fine I guess.” “Well, um, my anniversary for me and my girlfriend. Wanna come? God will be here.“ “WHAT? YES! ImeanyeahsureIguess.” Charlie did her best to suppress her laugh at her uncle’s rushed attempt at a disinterested demeanor.
After telling her father and Grandfather that she had invited Asmodeus, Fizzarolli, Beelzebub, Vortex, and Mammon, Lucifer winced. “I feel like I should have told you that Mammon and Oz are, uh, arguing right now. Nothing serious, but you know those two, always at each other's throats. Charlie grimaced and nodded, she loved both of her uncles, but it sometimes felt like they didn't really love each other.
Charlie didn’t get much time to worry about Oz and Mam fighting because Asmodeus arrived less than an hour later. “Uncle Ozzie!” Charlie ran up to her uncle and hugged him as he knelt down to embrace her. “Hey where’s Fizz? You promised you’d bring him.” Charlie joked lightly. At that moment, Fizzarolli jumped out of Asmodeus’s mane with an explosion of glitter, and Charlie shook his hand before pulling him into a hug. “It’s SO great to finally meet you! Ozzie was telling me all about you after you two went public!” Charlie pulled her uncles over to the couches. “Oh, just a moment, let me go grab Vaggie.” Charlie darted off to retrieve her girlfriend. “Hi.” Vaggie said nervously as she introduced herself to Asmodeus and Fizzarolli. As they introduced themselves to each other, Charlie casually mentioned that Vaggie was a former exorcist angel, Asmodeus glanced at her sharply. “You are?” Fizz asked curiously. “Yep! She was kicked out when she spared a child’s soul. I found her a few hours afterwards.” Charlie explained jubilantly. Ozzie was still suspicious, but less so.
Ozz and Fizz talked to the guests and God for a while, and a half hour later a certain sin burst through the doors. “What is up my bitches! The Queen Bee of Gluttony is here! AUW AUW!!” “Auntie Bee! You’re here! I’ve missed you!” Charlie ran up to her aunt and hugged her. “Tex! C’mere, this is Charlie, my niece!” Bee proudly showed her off to her boyfriend as the two greeted each other and shook hands.
Charlie went around all of her guests, making sure everyone was happy and content, hearing snippets of conversation such as-
“Wait, so you’ve never felt like Bee was too good for you, with her being a sin and all?” “Of course I have, it's easier after you get used to the idea, and since Bee is so chill.” “Oh yeah, the same was true for me with Ozzie, he was especially intimidating when we first met, I think that’s why he was extra sweet when we first got together.” Oh good, Fizz and Vortex were getting along.
Oh dear God, Molly was doing a drinking competition with Bee and Husk, and she was winning. “AHAHAHAHA! WINNERS CAN NEVER GET MORE THAN SLIGHTLY TIPSY! I AM THE SUPERIOR BEING! GET FUCKED!” That was probably fine. Bee seemed more amused than upset, and Husk was practically passed out on the table. Angel hugged his sister in celebration.
God was chatting with Oz, with Lucifer supervising (watching in horror). “Wait, wait-so you ALSO call him LuLu?” “Yeah, or Luci. I didn’t get to talk to him much while I made universes, so I had his older siblings help out. I’m so glad that I get to visit him right after I come back from vacation!” Charlie could practically hear her dad thinking to himself, don't mention my childhood stories don't mention my childhood stories don't mention my childhood stories don't mention my childhood stories- ”So do you wanna hear Luci’s childhood stories?” Fuck.
“So,” Charlie walked up to Vaggie, “This is okay, right?” “Yeah, I’m glad I get to meet your family. :}” Vaggie responded. All of a sudden, Charlie tensed. “What’s wrong?!” Vaggie asked fearfully, hands itching for her spear. “I don’t know how, but I could just feel Mammon entering the pride ring. He'll be here in less than an hour. “How?” “I don’t know, I’m sorry.” “It’s okay, I’m just concerned. Do you think it has anything to do with your grandfather?” “Huh, that makes sense.”
About 45 minutes later, Charlie heard a knock on the door. She steeled her nerves and opened it, preparing for the worst. “Mammon!” she exclaimed, genuinely happy to see her uncle. She had warned both Ozz and Bee about his arrival, so they were prepared. However, Mammon was not prepared. “Oh, hello Ozzie.” Mammon said icily. The tension in the room was thick enough to be cut with a knife. Ozz glowered back without responding. Fizz looked like a deer in headlights. Bee looked horrified, like she was watching 6 consecutive train wrecks.
“So!” Charlie said with forced cheeriness. “It’s time for dinner! Who’s up for pancakes?”

Charlie could practically hear the glares her uncles were sending to each other. She pushed her food around her plate and glanced at Vaggie. This isn’t going well, She thought to herself before leaning over to Vaggie and grabbing her wrist. “You okay?” she whispered to her girlfriend. “Yeah, just a bit overwhelmed.”
“So, you run the greed ring? That’s pretty interesting” Emily asked Mammon. “Yeah, I mean, I make money, which I like.” “That’s great! I’m so glad you get to do work that you enjoy.” “Yeah, I actually do my job.” he said with a pointed look at Ozz, leaving Emily confused. “Well at least I’m not a WHINY BI-” Charlie loudly and violently coughed, forcing everyone to look at her and away from her uncles’ spat. “Has anyone tried the eggs? I think they were lovely.”
After a few more minutes of tense silence, Mammon piped up with, “Hey Charlie, have you heard what happened with Stolas?” “No, what happened, is he okay?” She replied, as Stolas was one of her favorite Goetian cousins. “He got exiled for a century, sad shit.” “Not like you did anything to help.” Snapped Bee. “Neither did you! Besides, Satan would’ve gotten pissy if we tried to lighten his sentence.” “I guess, do you think we would get in trouble if we visit?” The words turned into incoherent babble as Charlie zoned out, thinking about Stolas.
Maybe I can get Dad to un-exile him or something, but Satan would get upset if we overrule him and his- wait, how did Stolas get exiled without a trial? Or, did he trial him without Dad? But that’s not allowed! That’s treasonous! He wouldn’t do something so stupid! Would he? Okay, as soon as I can, I’m going to invite him over and fix him. Would he want that? Maybe I should leave him alone, I don’t want to make things worse. But it’s not fair! I want to help. I just need to figure out how. Hmmm, maybe I can invite him here, and then I can figure out if he actually wants this. He probably won’t but I can’t be sure. Then I need to figure out how to make him happy in a way that would also not undermine Satan. He probably just thought that Dad was out of the picture since he’s been gone for so long.
“Haisnsmsdnsbaabddf- Charlie? Are you okay?” “Huh? Oh, sorry Dad, can you repeat that?” “We were just explaining to your grandfather how we each run the rings.” “As I was saying,” Asmodeus continued, “I like to be more relaxed with my citizens. They are a part of my ring, and so I treat them with respect. I give them entertainment and allow them to do whatever, just as long as they don’t interfere with how the rest of the ring is run.” “And I like to make my people happy by giving them parties and shit like that. I’m not super happy with how the hellhounds are treated like they’re below others. It sucks for me but it’s worse for them. So yeah, I try to treat them whenever I can.” “I think that’s very noble of you, Be-elzebub.” Emily chirped.”Awww, thank you, uh, you’re so sweet.
After a while, the topic changed to romantic partners. “I met Vaggie the morning after the extermination a few years ago.” Charlie said. “I met Fizzarolli at one of Mammon’s dress rehearsals.” ”Vortex and I met at one of my parties.” “I think Levi and I have something going on with each other.” Mammon added. “I don’t really have an interest in romance, but I love my children, and I always hold a special place in my heart for the people I make on Earth.” God chimed in. “I don’t wanna talk about it.” Lucifer finally mumbled. Oh, poor baby, God thought about His son. Mammon was about to say something snarky about Ozz and Bee when he noticed Charlie desperately signaling to him to shut up.
It was quiet for a few more minutes as everyone ate in silence. Charlie stood up after finishing her food. “Well I’m full. Bee, Ozzie, Mammon, thank you all for coming, I love you all so much. Grandfather, Emily, I appreciate you visiting me and my dad down here. Dad, thank you for coming.” Vaggie also finished her food a few minutes after Charlie before joining her girlfriend.
“Wow, your relatives are really something.” Vaggie said as she sat down next to Charlie on their bed. “Yeah, I love them, but they can be… overwhelming, especially when you aren't used to them.” “Your aunt’s nice.” Vaggie said with a small smile. “Yeah, Bee’s great.” Charlie grinned. “What are we gonna do on our actual anniversary?” “Don’t worry Vaggie, I have it taken care of.” Charlie said with a wink. “I love you.” “I love you too.”

Chapter Text
Charlie spent the whole week leading up to the moment of her and Vaggie’s anniversary stressing. She had done everything in her power over the last three years to make every birthday, valentines day, anniversary, and every other holiday better than the last. Over the course of the week, she had made reservations, talked to everyone about what was happening and plans to get them away from the hotel for the day, and made an itemized checklist of what needed to be done to make the day perfect. That morning, she made Vaggie breakfast in bed and spent time with her the entire morning. For lunch, she decided to take her to a restaurant in the human realm.
“Are you sure this is safe? I’ve been to the human realm, but I’ve never really… talked to living people before.” “Don’t worry Vaggie! I used to sneak into the human realm all the time when I was a teenager. I can just make some human disguises, it’ll be fine!” “Okay, I trust you.” OK, you got this, Charlie thought to herself as she took a deep breath and created a small ball of fire in between her hands. She then created a large circle in the air with her hands. The fire lengthened out into a large oval in the air. After a moment, the fire dimmed for a few seconds before lighting up and a glowing portal to the mortal world appeared.
“Wow, it's beautiful here,” Vaggie said as she and Charlie walked along the pier of the human town they were visiting together. True to her word, Charlie and Vaggie looked exactly like humans. Vaggie now had caramel colored skin and silky black hair. Her x’ed out eye was now simply sewn neatly shut, and her eyepatch was a birthmark. Charlie looked mostly the same, her skin being more human and less ghostly, and her skeletal frame was less bony. Most obviously, her eyes were normal for a human, and bright blue. Their clothes had also changed, with Vaggie wearing a red and black striped long-sleeved sundress and sun hat with a black rose on top. Charlie was wearing a matching red tuxedo jacket and short skirt and long black socks.
At lunch, Charlie and Vaggie went to a cute little family owned restaurant. After ordering, they chatted with each other, laughing and giggling together. An older lady sitting at the booth across from them gave the two of them the stink-eye for a while before wandering over to them. “I don’t see why you two… things… are shoving your disgusting life choices in everyone’s faces.” Vaggie looked furious and ready to kill, but it was Charlie that shot up. “And I don’t see why you’re shoving your hatred and misery in our faces, but I’m not saying anything. Also, why is it so hard to see two people in love? Is it because you have nobody in your life that loves you?” Angry and embarrassed, the old bat shuffled back away and out of the restaurant. After a moment, Charlie realized what exactly she had done and flushed in embarrassment.`“Sorry Vaggie, I didn’t mean to lose my temper.” “It’s okay, I never see you get angry, so it always feels weird, in a good way.”
After lunch, the two wandered around in the human realm for at least three hours, looking at attractions, buying things from gift shops (Charlie’s card worked perfectly fine), and just finding joy in each others’ company. At four, they went on a ferry ride around the coast before returning to hell. Charlie squealed when she saw a few dolphins leaping out of the water, and Vaggie looked at the fish darting under and around the boat.
After returning home, the two changed into slightly nicer clothes before going to dinner. Charlie had hired a private chef to make them both food, and had set up a picnic table in one of her parents’ gardens.
“Oh wow! This place is gorgeous!” Vaggie said as she turned to look up at the canopy above her. The two sat down at the table and started talking while they waited. “You used to go to the mortal world when you were younger?” Vaggie asked. “Oh yes! I went all the time to bother humans, go sightseeing, and hang out with my- my friends.” As they talked, their food was finished and served to the two of them. After eating, they wandered around the gardens for a while before finding a rose-filled open pavilion with a skylight that allowed the stars- what little they had- to sparkle across the dark marble flooring and dew covered flowers.
Charlie used her magic to turn on some ballroom music before turning to her partner and holding out her hand, “May I have this dance?” she asked Vaggie with a smile. “Of course, hun.” Vaggie responded before placing her hand on top of Charlie’s and pulling her closer. They began to dance and twirl, skirts swishing together. After a while, Charlie pulled away and knelt down.
“Vaggie, I love you, I want to spend the rest of my life with you.” “I feel the same way.” Vaggie responded, heart straining, hoping. “I wanted to ask you something, and I felt our anniversary was the best time for it.” Vaggie nodded. Charlie took a deep breath before pulling out a small velvet box. She opened it up, and revealed the ring inside. It was beautiful, a silver band carved in the shape of angelic wings, studded with small diamonds and topped with a large moonstone.
“Vaggie, will you do me the honor of making me the most happy person in hell, by becoming my wife?” “Yes! YES!” Vaggie yelled as Charlie leapt up and embraced her. The two pressed their faces together and kissed. Now engaged, they continued dancing under the stars.

Chapter Text
While Charlie and Vaggie were on their anniversary date, God had suggested that he and Lucifer hung out, “Like a real Father and son.” Despite being apprehensive, Lucifer had agreed. Although God had initially wanted to go out and about in public, Lucifer had convinced Him that it would be better to stay inside. ”These people are already insane, and it’s almost Sinsmas, so they’re going to be even worse.” he had said, and God was forced to agree. “I don’t want you to get hurt, Luci.” Despite being annoyed at the infantilizing nickname, Lucifer held his tongue.
Later, after playing a few board games and making some rubber ducks together, Lucifer felt a little better about his Dad.
“What do you think?” God asked as he showed His son a duck stylized to look like Lucifer. “Oh, that’s cool, good job.” The praise caused Him to smile broadly.
Despite having some amount of fun with his Father, Lucifer was often annoyed at patronizing nicknames or God assuming that he was incompetent or treating him like a child. However, he did enjoy the praise, even if it was for not needing help cutting his food during lunch.
“I’m glad I got to hang out one on one today, LuLu, although I wish you visited while I was on vacation. You could have at least written back.” Lucifer froze, “Letters?” “You never got them? Even if you fell, wouldn’t your siblings send them to you?”
Lucifer snorted. “They didn’t care if I lived or died.” “What! Why?!” There was a pause. “Oh… that's why.” Lucifer looked at him curiously. “I love… most of my children equally. However, Luci, I have always… ignored your flaws and fixated on your positives. I didn’t see you as a person, only as my favorite.”
Lucifer was shocked at his Father’s admission. He had always thought that God had hated him, but he was in fact His favorite. How? Why? However, his siblings had noticed this favoritism when he had not.
"I’m sorry that I turned your siblings against you, Lucifer, I also need to apologize to you siblings too, for neglecting them in your favor."
Lucifer forgave his Father, for both the idolization and infantilization, and for turning his siblings away from him. They both recognized that neither of them were perfect, but they could at least try to be better.

Chapter 7: Adam Shows Up
Summary:
Adam shows up.
Notes:
Sorry for the short chapter! I only had a few days to write this.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
For nearly the last 6 months, ever since Adam had arrived in this fuck-forsaken place, as a sinner, he had been thoroughly not having a good time. Between the anxiety of knowing that everyone here hated him with the force of ten-thousand suns, not knowing if or when they’d figure out his identity, his identity being concealed by the animal he hated more than anything else in the entire world- snakes, knowing how and why he was here (somehow Hell had transferred knowledge and clarity of his actions into his thick skull), not knowing how to get back, and knowing where he should go- but not wanting to, he was a touched stressed.
He wanted to get back to heaven, no shit, Hell sucked, and you might think, “No fucking shit, Hell sucks! The sky is blue!” But seriously, how in this place were sinners not knocking down that dumb princess's walls, begging to be let into her hotel? He’d thought it was ridiculous, sinners trying to change for the better, but the amount of fucking awful shit he’d seen down here would’ve been enough to motivate hm to get out if he’d been a normal sinner.
However, he was not a normal sinner. Stepping foot in the Hazbin Hotel would’ve been an immediate death sentence. Eventually, however, he gave in. Being at Hazbin and dying instantly, if painfully, would be better than being in Hell. Maybe, through some severe stroke of luck, they would spare him. Maybe, he could get back into Heaven.
Despite hating Hell with a burning passion, Adam waffled around for another two months before actually going to the Hotel. He then waited another two hours in front of the door before he knocked. Unfortunately, it was Charlie who opened the door. The princess of Hell opened the door, smiled when she saw what was clearly a sinner, realized who he was, froze for a second, then slammed the door in his face. After a moment, she opened the door again and pointed her pitchfork at his face. “I just want to talk.” Adam said as he threw his hands up. “I don’t care, I want you to leave.” Charlie hissed, pushing her pitchfork a little closer to Adam’s jugular. “Wait! I-I um, I was wondering if…” Adam trailed off. “What?!” Charlie growled. “Can I join the hotel? Please?” Adam mumbled the question out. “You… want to stay here? You? Here? What?” The sheer bafflement of Adam’s question distracted Charlie from her aggression. “Yes. Yea, ma’am.” “Uh, wait a second.” Charlie said as she closed the door again.
Ma’am? Charlie’s head was spinning. What was going on? Was he trying to trick her? Was he genuinely remorseful? He called her ma’am. Given Adam’s previous actions, Charlie wouldn’t have been surprised if she was the first woman he had ever treated respectfully, maybe aside from Sera or Lute.
“Hey Vaggie?” “Yea?” “Uh, Adam showed up on our doorstep.” “What?!” Vaggie demanded, whipping around and grabbing her spear. “He wants to join the hotel.” “What?” Vaggie was just as confused as Charlie. “He was actually super respectful.” “Huh. That’s so weird.”
When reintroducing Adam to everyone else, the reactions were, to say the least. Charlie had to physically hold back her father, and Angel and Husk just about killed him with the combined force of their glare. Nifty was practically choking on laughter from seeing him, and God straight up told him, “If you even try to hurt my son or granddaughter, I will erase your soul from existence.”
Emily was shocked but otherwise calm. Arakniss and Baxter only knew him as the leader of the exorcists, so hated him by default.
However, a few days later, most of the people were warming up to him. Granted, it was more like a freezer rather than the Arctic, but he took what he could get. The next day, they were all participating in one of Charlie’s games. Adam had actually been surprisingly enthusiastic, wanting to get back into heaven. “Good job today Adam, you’ll be an angel again in no time!” Adam smiled, little by little, he was becoming a better person. He wouldn’t admit it yet, but falling would be the best thing to ever happen to him.

Chapter Text
Adam was beginning to settle into life in the Hazbin Hotel, despite the intense hatred of pretty much every other person around. Ironically, the three people who hated him the least were- Charlie- whose hotel he destroyed, Vaggie- whose eye and wings had been ripped off while he watched, and Nifty- who had killed him.
One day, not long after Adam had shown up, more angels were on their doorstep. A trio of Cherubs, all of which looked tired and beaten down.
“Welcome to the Haz- woah, are you three okay?” Charlie asked. “We heard that this place was here for redemption? You see- we accidentally killed a human, and got kicked out of Heaven. Eventually we got stuck here. We thought that maybe we could stay here, so we could get back home.” Said Kiki, the yellow ewe lamb. “Oh course! Well, it’s kind of funny actually, not your situation, it’s just that another angel who ended up in Hell decided to stay here too.”
“Adam?!” Yelled Cletus when he saw him, recognizing an extremely important official, who was literally the first man and the first person to get to heaven.
The three cherubs were shocked when it was revealed to them that not only were they not the first angels to seek redemption, but ADAM, one of the most powerful angels, was here before them, it was quite shocking.
“Yep! I was the first!” Adam boasted. “Excuse me?” Vaggie demanded. “The first! I have been here for years!“ ”Yea, but you don’t even count anymore. You help run the place and you’re married to the owner or something.” Adam grumbled. “Not married yet, just engaged.” Vaggie sighed.
“You can get married down here?” One of the cherubs asked. “Of course you can. Life down here is pretty much the same as on Earth. I mean, there are a bunch of human souls who are used to human life.” Charlie responded. “Y’know, I always thought this place was just a cesspool of drugs and sex and murder.” Adam admitted. “I never considered that there was a whole human society down here.”
Charlie did her best to work with the cherubs, but they were proving to be difficult. They had a thick “holier than thou” complex that grated on her every nerve. Also, they barely participated in the activities she worked so hard to set up for everyone, complained about their rooms, and at first didn’t even deign themselves to speak with the other residents.
Despite Charlie wanting to throw them though the wall half the time, she was able to make some progress, especially with the blue lamb. He complained the least, participated the most, and was the first to try and bond with the guests. Not very well, but he was trying.
“Kiki, if you want to improve, you have to at least try to participate in the activities.” Charlie said, trying to mask her irritation. “Well maybe you should have better activities.” Kiki said, folding her arms and turning her head, like a child who didn’t want to eat their food.“If you don’t want to participate, then you can go to your room and STAY THERE!” Charlie yelled, looking and feeling like a mother who was fed up with her kids. “It’s not my fault that I think that this isn’t helpful for our redemption! All we’re doing is drawing pictures!” “We are using the medium of art to express what we have done wrong and how we can become better people THIS IS LITERALLY REDEMPTION!” “Ugh, fine! Whatever!”
“Children, the lot of you!” Charlie muttered to herself. Well, at least she had Vaggie. She loved her hotel, but she sometimes felt more like she was being a mother to several small children rather than the Princess of Hell.

Chapter Text
After just a few weeks of working with the cherubs, Charlie needed a break. So she, Vaggie, Pentious, Cherri, Angel, and Husk decided to all go out together. Angel and Husk were not officially together yet, but they were invited anyway. However, Molly was left home without her brother.
“Maybe we can hang out together.” Said Emily. “We haven’t talked much since we got here.” “Hmmm, I dunno. OH! I know! I could follow them, and if they don’t know that I’m there, I won’t be intruding!” “I don’t think that that’s a good idea.” Emily responded. ”I’m pretty sure that that’s the definition of stalking.” “What? Nooo. It’ll be fiiine.” “If you say so.”
So Molly followed behind them, but she was stopped again by her older brother Arakniss, who was one of the other guests at the hotel. “Look, sis, I know that you and your brother have been attached at the hip since birth, but you’ve been separated for a long time now. You’re two different people, and pretending that you’re not isn’t good for you.” “Niss, please, I know what I’m doing. Of course we’re different people, I just need to make sure he’s safe.” So Arakniss let her go, there was nothing he could say to stop her.
It took Molly a while to catch up, but she eventually was able to locate them. They were all hanging out at a restaurant/ bar. Molly sat perched on a stool several feet away, ordered a strawberry cocktail, and eavesdropped.
“I’m glad we were able to get you away from your fucking sister for a second.” joked Cherri, elbowing Angel in the ribs. “Hey, she’s been through a lot. We were the only people that we could rely on for our entire lives, and then I went off and died on her.” “Jeez, I’m only kidding, I’d go insane without you too.”
“So, you two got engaged, huh?” Husk asked, turning to Charlie and Vaggie. “Mm hmm.” Replied Vaggie, showing off her ring. Charlie wrapped one of her arms around her and showed off her own ring, which was a golden band in the shape of a snake, with ruby eyes. “Ooh, it’sss a sssnake.” said Sir Pentious, as he was also a snake.
A while later Molly decided to pay her tab and leave. As she slipped out the door, Cherri noticed her movement out of the corner of her eye. How long was she there?, she wondered before turning back to her friends.
A few hours later, after the six of them went back to the hotel, Cherri confronted Molly, who was reading in her room. “Oh, hey Cherri, what’s up?” “You were stalking us earlier, weren’t you?” Molly froze. “Nooooooooo.” She responded. “Yes you were, I saw you!” “Nuh uh.” “Yes I did.” “No you didn’t.” “Yes.” “No.” “Yes.” “No.” “Yes.” “NO!.” “YES!” “Please don’t tell anyone!” “Well why shouldn’t I?!” “Because I don’t need him getting mad at me for just wanting to make sure he’s okay! Anthony was the only person who I had for my entire life! And then he FUCKING died! So I lived my life miserable, and when I went to Heaven, I thought, ‘Finally, I’ll be able to reunite with my brother!’ But no! He had to go to Hell for some bullshit reason, so you might understand why I want to be around him!” “...fine, I won’t tell him, just don’t do it again.” “Thank you, Cherri.”

Chapter Text
Charlie had been constantly thinking about Stolas and what to do about him. She eventually decided to just try to talk to him. However, her first obstacle was not knowing where he was, or having any way to contact him. So she decided to talk to Asmodeus first.
“Hey Oz! So… Do you know where Stolas is, and how to contact him?” “Uhh, I don’t know, he’s probably staying with Blitz, but I don’t know where he lives. But Fizz might.” So Charlie called Fizz next.
“Fizz, do you know where your friend Blitz lives, and if Stolas is with him?” “Yea I know where he is, and he did say that Stolas is staying with him, but I don’t think you should talk to him right away. Blitz isn’t very… receptive to people. I can give you his number, but I think you should have some form of motivation for him to talk to you.” “Like what?” Charlie asked. “I don’t know. I think Stolas has a daughter?” “Oh yes! Octavia, I’ll talk to her.” Charlie thanked Fizz and hung up. Then she called Stolas’s daughter Octavia after Fizz sent Blitz’s phone number.
Unfortunately, Octavia’s mother Stella picked up her call. “Who is this?” She snapped. “Hello, this is Charllie Morningstar, may I please speak to Octavia?” “Did you say Morningstrar? As in Daughter of Lucifer Morningstar? What business do you have with my daughter?” Shit. Well now she needed an excuse. “Well, as her father has been exiled, she needs to learn magic to temporarily take over some of her father’s responsibilities while he is gone.” Was that a good enough excuse? “I thought that my brother was supposed to be taking over for Stolas.” “Uh, well, that’s just because Octavia hasn’t been properly trained in magic yet. Also, she should only be doing part of it until she can take over the entire job.” “Hmm, well I guess I might as well bring her to you.” “Oh, no need, I can collect her from your residence and give her back at your next possible convenience.” After a bit of bribery, Stella agreed to let Octavia stay with Charlie and then hung up the phone. “Octavia! Get over here!” Stella yelled to her daughter. “What is it Mum? Hey, why do you have my phone?” “Don’t worry about that. You’re going to be staying with the Morningstar princess. Here’s your phone, start packing, you're getting picked up in the morning. “What! Are you serious! You have to be joking!” “Don’t worry sweetheart.” Stella cooed. “She’s going to show you how to do your father’s job and teach you magic.” Stella then condescendingly patted her daughter’s head and shooed her away.
Octavia stormed into her room and launched one of her books into the wall. Then she sat on her bed and held her head in her hands. She yanked on her hair in frustration. Again and again and again, the pain distracing her from the thought that her mother was sending her away. For what? To learn magic? Octavia thought it was bullshit. Clearly Stella just wanted to be away from her, and this was just her excuse. She bit into her palm to stop the tears from forming, and began to gather up her things.
The next morning, Stella seemed especially happy, which only fueled Octavia’s anger. “I’m so glad you get this opportunity!” She squeezed her daughters shoulders and grinned. “Mmhmm, yes Mother.” Octavia replied. She double checked her belongings, phone, charger, and a few books. Maybe a little underkill, not knowing how long she would be gone, but she didn’t care. Ovtavia put her earbuds in and stomped outside. She shivered as the ice-cold wind wafted over her.
Charlie was rather shocked when she first arrived at Stolas’s former palace. She thought it would be a little different, but it was practically a winter wonderland. “Octavia! Hello! Hi, it's so nice to meet you.” “Hello there, what was your name again?” “My name’s Charlie. Come in, wow it's cold out here.” Octavia stepped into the car and looked out of the window moodily.
“How have you been?” “Fine.” “How’s school going for you?” “I don’t go to school.” “How are your friends?” “I don’t have any.” (What a lovely conversation, sure wish I could be a part of it.) “Do you know any magic yet? If so then we might be able to get on with your training and get it done faster.” That got Octavia’s attention. “I know a little magic. I can use Dad’s book, but I can’t do much without it.” She lied, thinking of how she had fought her uncle. Maybe if Charlie thought she was some sort of prodigy, she could leave faster. “How is your dad? Have you… talked to him at all?” “He tried calling me a few times, but Mother put a stop to that. I would care more if he didn’t take a month to actually try to come here. I haven’t talked to him since then.” “Why not?” “Well why should I? He told me that he would never leave me behind, never abandon me, but he did! All for his… stupid asshole boyfriend! I thought he was DEAD! And he might as well be for how little I’ve seen of him.” “Octavia…” Charlie started, but was interrupted by the arrival at their destination. “I’ll leave you alone tonight, your magic lesson is after the hotel’s morning activity. You don’t have to participate if you don't want to, but you can watch if you get bored in your room. “Whatever, where am I staying?” Charlie showed her to her room and handed her a key. When Octavia turned the lock she was shocked to see an almost exact replica of her room. “What? How?” She asked. “The hotel’s magic, each room responds to the needs of the guests.”
Octavia was then shown around the hotel by Charlie. “That’s the bar, Husk is the bartender, you probably shouldn’t go there, just saying. Y’know, alcohol. Those are our residents, Cherri, Angel, Baxter, Adam, Collin, Kiki, Cletus, and Arakniss. “Are those…Cherubs?” Octavia asked. “We have a mix of sinners and fallen angels trying to be redeemed here. Oh, and there's Sir Pentious, the snake, he’s our first redeemed sinner! That’s Molly, she’s Angel’s sister. That’s Emily, she’s a seraphim, and that’s my grandfather, God.” “Why is God here?” Octavia asked. “He’s visiting me and Dad, by the way, did you know that He’s actually been gone since the creation of the universe and everything that we have thought he has done has actually been the more powerful angel’s doing?” “Yeah that sounds about right.” Octavia replied, being aware of absentee fathers. “Hello!” Lucifer popped into existence behind Octavia, making her yelp and jump as she spun around to face the king of Hell. Charlie winced, “Dad, be polite, she’s our guest, I invited her here.” “I see, interesting, you are… Stolas’s kid, right?” “Octavia.” She replied curtly, becoming irritated by only being intentified by her father’s title.
That next morning, Octavia decided to participate in the activity out of sheer boredom. After breakfast, all of the residents gathered in the living room and sat in a circle. “Okay everyone! Oh hi Octavia! This morning we are going to be talking about forgiveness! When you should or shouldn’t forgive people, when you need to ask to be forgiven, and what happens when you try to forgive people that routinely betray your trust.” Charlie’s voice faded into the background of Octavia’s mind as thoughts swirled around inside her head. She quickly realized that this topic was very relevant to her life at the moment, with the thought of her father looming over her like a dark cloud. Why this topic? Did she know? How could she know? Octavia did her best to pay attention while trying to repress the thoughts of her father. Charlie’s lesson was surprisingly nuanced. What do you do if it’s a pattern of behavior? Can people really fix their wrongs? What if they change? What if you have done them wrong aswell?
After the lesson, Charlie and Octavia went into a separate room in the hotel to begin working on Octavia's magic. For now, Charlie explained, it was just going to be the basics and fundamentals of magic. Octavia was quickly able to get the hang of it, and a lot of things that she had had to do to do the spells right, that were just done for seemingly no reason made sense after learning why. Over the next few days, Octavia sat in on the lessons and activities, all of which seemed to weirdly match up with her own inner turmoil. After the lessons, she and Charlie would practice magic. After the basics, Octavia and Charlie would practice summoning elements, reading the stars.
“So, how are you feeling?” Charlie said one day after their lessons. “I’m fine.” Octavia said flatly. “So… uhm…” “What?” “You said that you were upset at your dad because you feel like he left you for his partner.” “Yeah, and?” “Well, maybe if it could make you feel better, I could… have him over so you can talk.” Octavia paused, the thought of being able to tell off the person who stole her father was tantalizing. “Sure.” She shrugged.
Notes:
Soo... uhhh... how have you guys been? After the first few weeks I kinda forgot about this fic. But I'm back!
