Summary
The temperature plummets as the sun sets across No Man's Land. With no cloud cover to keep anything in, the heat of the day soon gives way to an equally unforgiving night. You know you should stop to rest soon. It’s becoming increasingly clearer that you won't make it to the next town before nightfall.
Shooting out like bleached ribs in the sand are the ruins of a building. One after another. You blink, then rub your eyes with the intent to clear this mirage from them.
“Almost makes me sad to think about it,” you say, disturbing the silence in the room, “someone spent so much time building this place, only for it to be abandoned.”
“I’d be more worried about why this place was abandoned,” says Vash.
He has a point. People don't leave everything behind like this. The sight of a town abandoned, looking as if its residents didn't have time to pack before they left, should set you on edge. What was it that made everyone run? Raiders? Famine? Disease outbreak? Something—or someone—ran them out of town.
