"You disobedient little shit!"
Ren's jaw throbbed in pain, and his head was screaming profanities at him after falling to the ground.
"I thought I told you to stay in your room!"
A kick this time. Into the center of Ren's ribs.
They cracked and ached in agony, yet Ren said nothing.
He couldn't say anything.
"I hear a single word from you in there, and I'll make you regret it!"
Ren was grabbed by the collar, and he was either too exhausted or lacked the will to fight back, since he was dragged without effort into his room.
After he was thrown in, the door was slammed shut. Ren slowly picked himself up from the carpeted floor and noticed a small red stain.
He raised a finger to his nose, and had just realised it was bleeding.
That's 4 times this month.
He wiped the blood away with his palm before heading to his bed at a snails pace.
His head fell into his pillow, and it grew wet with the tears in his eyes. He would try to sleep, were it not for the set of footsteps he could hear from within the house.
He could make out two separate pairs of footsteps on the floor below his room.
That meant she was home too.
She never raised her hand at Ren, but she made it clear to him he was unwanted in this house, much like he did.
He stared at the textbooks on his desk.
He could study, but he couldn't find the will to do it.
There wasn't much he could find the will to do anymore.

He missed curfew.
It was a late night. Inaba was quiet enough so that there was no noise. No people, no lights.
And Ren preferred that.
But he missed curfew.
He dragged his feet on the pavement with each step he took. He had already missed curfew, so what was the point in rushing?
The route was short, and Ren wasn't keen on getting home just yet.
He took a detour, turning left to go round the neighbourhood, rather than right, where his house was in view.
His steps were the only thing that could be heard in the dead of night.
That was, until he heard a woman shouting.
Ren kept moving forward, and coincidentally, in the direction of the shouting.
He turned a corner, and that was when he saw it.
A bald man in a dark suit, running his hands all over a woman trying to fight him off.
"Help me! Someone call the cops! Please!"
"You think they'll help? The police are my bitches. They won't take you seriously." The man mocked as he continued to force himself on her.
Ren should've turned around.
He should've walked away.
He should've minded his own business.
But he didn't.
