A simple picnic

Summary:

Thor is struggling to adapt to his brother suddenly being revealed as a little toddler. No longer can he hunt or drink with Loki. So what does he do? Why, have a picnic of course! And why not bring his friends along for the ride?

Work Text:

A few incredibly slow hours in the healers ward revealed Loki was perfectly healthy, although his brain was struggling with the switch.

Eir was baffled by her tiny patient, having trouble staying professional as she explained to Odin and Frigga that Loki would likely struggle with adapting to his undeveloped frontal lobe and toddler mindset. They were told to expect him to be much more defiant than a regular toddler, especially considering the fact that this was Loki. His brain would struggle between his new toddler mind and his old 'adult' mind and he'd likely struggle with the transition. It was difficult for Odin and Frigga to hear but they knew they would help Loki accept his age. The poor little one was clearly suffering and needed all the love and support he could get.

Odin and Frigga had planned an event to reveal the truth but for now, getting Thor and Loki to meet properly was on their minds. They had already sent requests for new clothing, toys and much more to be made and currently Loki was sat on the floor, surrounded by whatever toys servants could gather from the market. He had stubbornly refused to touch anything except for two large magnets, pulling them apart and snapping them together in silence. Who thought magnets would be a good toy? Seriously. Who?

“I wonder how Thor will react…” Frigga anxiously murmured, voice low so that Loki did not hear them.

“Oh, the boys are close enough.” Odin dismissively shook his head but this was not enough to calm Frigga's nerves.

“Not in recent years. And do you remember how Thor is with children? He nearly dropped that poor child of that Vanir nobleman a few decades ago.”

“In his fairness, he was drunk.” Odin shrugged jokingly.

“Oh, and if the child had been dropped that would have been a good excuse to his poor parents-” they were interrupted by the door slowly open in, Thor's head nervously peaking through.

Thor cautiously looked around, Loki not taking his eyes off the two magnets. His face was tense with nerves as he mouthed something to his parents.

Odin and Frigga shrugged, having no idea what they he was saying. This promoted Thor to exaggeratedly open his mouth to repeat whatever he was trying to get across and when that did not work, he made a series of unintelligible hand gestures before rolling his eyes and strolling in with false confidence.

“Well hello, miniature brother of mine-ACK!” Thor tripped over a wooden toy chariot, immediately landing on the floor with a loud thump.

Loki flinched, hands still as he froze to stare at Thor before returning to his magnets.

Frigga and Odin groaned softly as Thor sat down on the rug, trying to play it off.

“Uh… . Hello, brother!” he reached out to pat Loki's head before suddenly thinking better of it, withdrawing his hand awkwardly.

Thor was clearly rather nervous. He was used to Loki being a quick-witted smartass with a sharp tongue and cutting comebacks, not a silent toddler. He tried a different approach, deciding to be playful.

"Oh come on, little brother, not one smartass comment? No cutting remark? I no longer receive the pleasure of heading even one of your 'superior intellect' retorts?” he chuckled, getting a warning look from his mother for his language.

Loki continued silently ignoring him, playing with the magnets.

“Loki, would you like to say something to Thor?” Odin promoted, only for Loki to shrug.

Thor watched as he continued to play, smashing the magnets together over and over again. He chuckled awkwardly and tried to keep the conversation going despite just how awkward it was. By the norns was it difficult.

"Uh… what are you doing there, brother? Playing with magnets, huh? Fun. Yes, that indeed seems quite fun, yeah..” He trailed off, looking for guidance from his parents who just nodded, their faces portraying no emotion.

Thor quietly huffed. Great help they were.

Odin just gave him a stern look, silently telling him to figure it out himself. Frigga gave him a slightly sympathetic smile, but didn't step in to help either. Thor let out a quiet sigh and turned back to him, feeling completely clueless on how to deal with Loki in this state.

“How old are you, Loki?” He hoped this would prompt some response from Loki.

“...’Round two hund'ed.” Loki softly spoke, Thor letting out an obvious sigh of relief.

“Wow, that's rather big! Soon you'll be just as old as I! Or as ancient as father!”

Frigga groaned, slapping her forehead at the sensitive topic of age. Odin sighed in disappointment as Loki scowled.

“ I was. Before. And now I not anymore.” Loki huffed.

“Ah, anyways! So what is it like? Oh never mind. Say, these toys are nice! Look, a snake. You like snakes, don't you?” Thor lifted a snake stuffed animal. “‘Hello Loki, I am a snake. Do not turn into one to stab your brother!’ Haha.”

Loki merely turned back to send Frigga a look before turning back to his magnet.

Thor felt his cheeks heat in embarrassment. “Sif and the Warriors Three are aware of the truth. They would like to meet you, Loki.”

Loki tensed, already picturing how hard he would be mocked. No doubt they'd all get a laugh out of knowing he was but a toddler.

“That sounds rather exciting, does it not, Loki?” Odin tried to sound encouraging. “The day is rather beautiful.”

“Yes, we could go to a pond and have a picnic. You always loved the fish.” Thor smiled, hoping it'd be less painfully awkward if he was around his friends, who were likely to be just as lost as him.

Loki thought about it. He might as well get the initial meeting over with, otherwise he'd be hounded by Thor to meet them. He nodded, standing up.

“Oh, right now?” Thor stood up.

Loki nodded, turning back to Odin and Frigga, who nodded albeit anxiously. “Thor, do be careful. No hunting or venturing into the woods. In fact, go to the pond by the stables. Oh, no the horses are rather large. Ok, the one by the fountain by my garden. No, there are bees. Oh, the one shaped like an apple!”

“That one is more of a particularly wide puddle, mother.” Thor groaned, Odin hiding a smirk at Frigga fretting over her now tiny son.

“And it is perfect for your brother. Loki, hold his hand and do not run off. I am serious, young man. If I hear one word I shall be forced to leash you around or have you carried in someone's arms at all times.” She pointed at him as Loki groaned, Thor turning away to smirk.

“I am not a child, mother.” Loki huffed, the room going silent for about twenty seconds. “...I a’sep' the terms.”

Thor extended a hand, Loki huffing as he held his hand. The elder found he had to reach awkwardly to grab it but sent a nod to his parents as he ventured off.

“So we have a little one again.” Odin sighed.

“The memories of Loki growing were all fake…” Frigga looked down as Odin put a comforting hand on her shoulder.

“Just wait until he goes through puberty again.” He whispered, chuckling as Frigga groaned loudly.

Meanwhile, Loki ignored the curious stares of practically everyone who laid eyes on them as they walked by. This was really going to need some time to get used to. Usually the looks were hostile but now he heard soft coos as he walked along with chuckling.

“The servants are clearly charmed.” Thor mused before he was cut off by a loud shriek.

“HE'S SO TINY!” Volstagg came running over.

Loki gaped at the ecstatic look on Volstagg’s face. He looked like a lion running over, arms wide open as if he was ready to embrace his wife after years at war.

Loki stood behind Thor's leg, still clutching Thor's arm.

Volstagg eventually stood right in front of Thor, peering down to get a look at Thor who dug his head into Thor's leg.

“Oh, Thor, I had assumed you were jesting when you told us of the news but to see it! He reminds me of my only boy! The memories are gushing back. Truly, I cannot believe this! His hair, it curls!” He rambled, Thor chuckling.

“He's shy.” Thor whispered, still somehow loud, and Volstagg nodded understandingly.

“Am not!” Loki piped up, still digging his head in Thor's leg.

“Then why don't you come out and say hello to Volstagg?” Thor chuckled, Volstagg shaking his head at him.

“Nay, it is fine. Come out when you feel ready, Loki. This must be a big adjustment.” Volstagg softly spoke.

Loki wondered if perhaps this was all a dream. Why was Volstagg being so kind to him? He had no problem pointing out Loki's flaws or mocking his seidr when the thought Loki was an adult. Did his true age really have such an affect on people?

“Tell the others to meet us by the Apple pond.” Thor sent the man a grateful look.

“The Apple pond? Volstagg questioned, brows furrowed.

“Yes, we shall have a picnic!” Thor knew it was very different to what the group usually did but hoped they would agree for Loki's sake.

After all, they were all friends.

“Oh, that sounds nice. The weather is especially nice.” Volstagg smiled, Thor relaxing at that. “I bet it was Loki's idea.”

“The weather is truly splendid today! No doubt my mother has already informed a servant.” He chuckled, thinking of how frazzled she seemed at Loki's safety.

“That sounds lovely.” Volstagg turned to the corridor he came from. “GO TO THE APPLE POND!”

Loki let go of Thor's hands to cover his ears, Thor turning to see why he had relinquished his hold and smiling.

Loki looked at the corridor to see Sif, Hogun and Fandral peeking out, nodding and then walking off.

“Oh, that was convenient.” Thor smiled as the trio walked.

Thor's arm ached from the awkward position but he kept his mouth shut as he chatted with Volstagg about other topics, giving Loki time to prepare himself. Eventually they were by the pond, Sif, Hogun and Fandral curiously sitting on the grass. As they approached, Thor could see Sif's tight expression, Fandral smirking at Loki and Hogun looking as stoic as usual although there was some questioning in his expression.

“Say, where is Loki? I do not see him.” Fandral joked, clearly looking at Loki hiding.

“Hm… I am not sure myself. I could have sworn he was following me. Mother will be most displeased if I've lost him.” Thor mused.

“I'm here.” A small voice squeaked out from behind Thor.

Volstagg, Thor and Fandral chuckled as Loki awkwardly half stepped out from behind Thor.

“There he is!” Volstagg sat down on the grass, Thor following him.

Loki sat by Thor's side, a little behind him so he could still hide.

“How do we know this is not a trick?” Sif's eyes fell on Loki, who dug his face into Thor's side.

Thor shook his head. “Nay, would Loki do something like this?”

“Exactly, the Loki we know would never willingly debase himself like this!” Fandral unhelpfully grinned. “He would never choose to be a trembling little babe for he would die of embarrassment!”

Thor froze, feeling Loki grab his tunic tight. He looked down, seeing Loki was on the verge of tears already. Oh shit.

“Fandral!” Volstagg slapped the back of Fandral's head angrily as they all stared.

“No, no, don't cry Loki!” Thor panicked, having no idea how to soothe a crying child.

His words drew everyone's attention, their eyes widening in surprise.

“You made him cry?” Sif whispered, baffled.

Loki never cried! He was practically emotionless unless riled up. They even once joked that Ragnarok would happen before Loki ever cried.

“I made him cry?” Fandral gasped, baffled.

Thor looked at Volstagg. The man had multiple children, surely there were tricks up his sleeve for a situation like this!

“Do something!” He pleaded.

“He's your brother!” Volstagg gestured to the audibly crying boy.

“I always thought we were close in age, I am not prepared for this!” He snapped as he felt his shirt get wet.

Volstagg groaned, rolling his eyes before awkwardly shifting to Loki. “Hey, Loki, I would not take that to heart. Fandral is an absolute moron.”

“Hey!” Fandral protested as Volstagg and Thor gave him a glare, the other two just watching in shock.

“You made him cry, be silent!” Volstagg huffed before making his voice softer. “Do you need some time away? Hm?”

Loki said nothing and Volstagg sighed, gently prying Loki from him. Loki squirmed as Thor stared, wondering if they should just call mother.

Volstagg cupped Loki to his chest, the toddler's head on his shoulder and walked slightly away, patting his back. They could not hear what was being said but many nods were exchanged between the two.

“This is strange.” Sif finally broke the silence slowly, eyes glued to the scene.

“Agreed.” Thor nodded, turning to his beloved friends. “Please help. I have no idea what to do.”

Fandral shook his head. “I can see why, he is Loki but nothing like Loki.”

“Exactly!” Thor frantically agreed, trying to control his breathing. “I-I cannot drink with him, I cannot go on adventures. My brother is a baby!”

“Not a baby!” Loki cried out, getting them to look back.

Loki was tearily glaring at them from Volstaggs arm.

“Sorry, brother!” Thor winced as Volstagg walked further away to ensure their conversation could not be heard.

Thor was grateful because he really needed to vent freely about the crisis he was having.

“I cannot believe this! All this time! A-a toddler!” Thor whispered loudly, his head flailing as he looked between his remaining friends.

“It explains some things.” Sif tilted her head in thought.

Thor felt a pang of relief that his friends were reacting well. Truthfully, he had been worried they would dislike Loki in his true form due to their inexperience with children so young but he had a feeling that things would go well from Sif's attitude.

“Like why he took it so hard whenever we teased him or he failed in training.” Fandral pointed out, basking in the sun.

“I cannot imagine how difficult it could have been.” Hogun shook his head, sighing.

Thor himself could not stop thinking of that. His poor little brother had been faking his age for such a long time and it must have caused an abundance of stress.

“So what will you do now? I mean… He is a toddler.” Fandral awkwardly asked, shamelessly staring at the tiny prince.

“Well first we have to tell all of Asgard. Hopefully then we can set up some play dates.” Thor shrugged, truthfully having no idea what on helheim they were going to do with Loki anymore.

Loki could certainly not be accompanying them on adventures anymore. It hurt Thor thinking of such things but it was for the best.

Fandral snorted and Hogun shook his head, Sif smirking a little as she looked down.

“Wh-what?” Thor looked at his friends, unaware of what they thought was funny.

“Well… Reasonably, what parent is going to agree to that?” Sif delicately said much to Thor's anger and confusion.

What does that mean? My brother is a sweet boy!” And wasn't that a strange thought.

It was a strange thing to think of his brother and immediately think ‘awww’. Loki would probably stab him if Thor told him that. Or perhaps bite his leg, considering that was all he could reach now.

“Sure, he is rather endearing in this form. But he is known as Loki the trickster. Mean and jealous.” Fandral bluntly put it, the others nodding with him.

Thor thought more about that. The people of Asgard didn't exactly feel much fondness for Loki but surely the circumstances were different now!

“His jealousy can be excused, though, now. Toddlers have rather intense emotions. It is normal for them.” Sif pointedly said, attempting to not drive Thor further into anger about his brother's reputation.

“How is Volstagg able to soothe him so well?” Thor turned to Fandral, who wanted to shift the subject seeing it was turning ugly swiftly.

Thor looked back, seeing Loki now standing, awkwardly talking to Volstagg, who was kneeling on the grass next to him. His brothers hands were twisting behind his back anxiously as Volstagg nodded with a smile on his face, as if hanging onto Loki's every word.

“He is a father himself. I imagine it is second nature to comfort a crying babe.” Hogun shrugged, sighing softly.

“Be careful, you do not want him to hear that.” Sif jokingly reminded him

The group erupted into quiet laughter at that, thinking of how sensitive Loki was now.

“I just cannot believe it. Surely there were signs.” Thor groaned quietly, throwing his head back and staring at the cloudless sky.

“Looking back on it there were some. Refusal to drink, despising staying out late and his… Hostile nature at feasts. I can imagine they are overwhelming for a little one.” Sif pointed out as she stared back at Loki.

“And his infamous naps.” Fandral added on with a chuckle.

It was a known fact around the castle that Loki loved to sleep. Many called him lazy for it but never to his face for fear of invoking his wrath. Thor himself had been sent to the healers ward on multiple occasions for thoughtlessly attempting to awake Loki from his nap. The boy loved his naps.

“The amount of times we teased him for those…” Sif's face twisted in discomfort, displaying her regret for how she thoughtlessly handled Loki.

“I still cannot fully wrap my head around it. A child…” Hogun softly spoke, emotions just as difficult to read as always. “It must have been very difficult. Masquerading as something he was not.”

They all nodded sympathetically, unable to imagine the toll it took on Loki to have to fool everyone who knew his name. He may be incredibly smart but no child could come out mentally unscathed.

“It will take time to adjust to but we can do it.” Sif smiled reassuringly at Thor, who appreciated the support greatly. “He does seem significantly more tolerable.”

“Ah, as long as he gets his naps in.” Fandral joked, turning to Thor. “Shall we go join them?”

“I feel as though putting it off will make him more fearful of us.” Hogun stood up, awaiting an answer from Thor, who nodded and followed suit.

“Ah, let us go then.” Fandral jumped up, clapping his hands as Sif picked herself up.

“Is there anything we should be wary of?” Sif decided to ask, not wanting to follow in Fandrals footsteps and reduce the pint sized trickster to tears within seconds.

“Healer Eir has told us he may be rather… unstable.” Thor said, looking at Loki who was now nervously staring at them.

“So like every toddler?” Fandral's brows furrowed in confusion.

“Significantly worse, actually.” Thor rushed out, wanting to not have Loki staring and wondering what they were doing for long enough to make him panic. “I have seen the tantrums he throws. His brain has struggled with the change and he often bounces back between embracing his age and refusing to admit he needs to be treated like his actual age.”

“Oh dear. Damned if we do damned if we don't.” Fandral grimaced, Hogun and Sif looking rather grim too.

“Perhaps we should let Volstagg take the lead on this.” Hogun suggested, Fandral immediately nodding in agreement.

“And let us rebrand our cowardice at facing a young boy as us ensuring he is not overwhelmed.” Sif scoffed, putting on a brave persona before walking over.

Her persona crumbled as she sat by Loki, who immediately scooted back slightly. She awkwardly nodded to him. “How are you?”

Loki stared silently, his face scrunched up as if he had eaten something rather sour. Fandral laughed, playing it off as a cough.

“So what are you both talking about? Nothing too fun, I hope. Wouldn't want to miss out.” Thor smiled, sitting down by Loki, who immediately scooted over.

Thor felt pride at knowing Loki considered him to be safe, and he wrapped an arm gently around his brother.

“So… Your hair is curly.” Fandral awkwardly pointed out with a sloppy smile.

Loki nodded shyly, avoiding their eyes as he reached up, tugging softly. It bounced as he let go, making Thor smile at Loki's curious nature.

“What did you and volstagg talk about, Loki?” Thor attempted to not let an awkward silence brew.

“Secret.” Loki said in a serious voice, looking back at him.

It was frankly adorable the way his expression was so still, almost challenging in a way. Before, when the adult spell was on him, he would have looked threatening. But with his giant emerald green eyes and little pink cheeks Thor just honestly wanted to give him a cuddle. Sure, he'd lose a few fingers possibly in the process but it seemed worth it.

“Okay, it's a secret. Oh, look!” Fandral pointed behind them.

They all simultaneously looked, seeing a young servant girl walking towards them with a basket.

“Ah, mother sent us food! We can have a little picnic.” Thor clapped Loki's back, forgetting he was but a child.

Loki tumbled over, face almost hitting the grass until Thor steadied him, apologetically giving him a little hug. Loki scowled at him but didn't push away, letting Thor drape his arm over him.

“Your majesties, Queen Frigga has sent me to provide you with food.” The young serving girl bowed.

Volstagg eagerly took the basket off her, placing it on the grass and opening it. “Thank you indeed! Oh, sandwiches!”

The girl bowed and took her leave as everyone dug in, yet Loki shyly buried his face in Thor's chest, feeling very out of place.

To the little trickster, the suddenly giant companions of his brother were admittedly terrifying. Especially their swords even as tall as him, tucked into their cases.

“Loki, would you like a sandwich? Mother ordered some specially for you. Look, no crusts just how you like it.” Thor whispered to him, waiting patiently for an answer.

Loki hesitantly nodded, not wanting to draw attention to himself by talking.

Thor gently passed him a small cut sandwich, cut for his little hands. Loki grabbed it with one hand, only for it to almost slip. He grabbed onto it with both hands anxiously, praying to the norns that it wouldn't fall and make a fool out of him. He was Loki, to be defeated by a sandwich would be humiliating!

“Would you like some help, brother?” Thor whispered, the others pointedly ignoring the conversation to not embarrass Loki.

Loki shook his head with determination, brows furrowed as he slowly started nibbling on his sandwich. Thor smiled, turning to his friends.

“So, Volstagg, I hear your wife has started crafting those lovely meat pastries again!” Thor boomed excitedly.

Volstagg nodded with a grin. “Ah, yes. She had planned to bring some for the little tyke during the announcement.”

“Announcement?” Hogun inquired, raising an eyebrow.

Thor was oblivious to the little body beside his tensing, abandoning his sandwich conquest to listen in.

“For Loki's…Chronological challenges.” Volstagg turned to Thor to explain further.

He took over, nodding. “Father is throwing a feast where he will announce to the nobles what happened. It shall be a rather large gathering but hopefully Loki can meet some friends his own age there. Mother has taken care to invite quite a few noble children in their early centuries and late decades.”

Loki's face burned at the idea of being surrounded by stupid, silly, snivelling little brats and his stomach churned at the idea of his big secret being publicly broadcasted. Sure, he was technically little but he felt big! He had lived as if he was big! Silently, Loki cursed his stupidity. If he hadn't done that silly curse, he would've been older by now. He could be using a grown up chair and chatting up ladies like Thor. Oh well, he'd have to make do with being small for a little longer. Mother would certainly be on his case about no spells.

The group went silent, staring at the visibly uncomfortable Loki.

“Well that could be fun. A feast!” Volstagg smiled, taking a swig of whatever he was drinking.

Mother had most definitely banned them from drinking in front of Loki, knowing he'd be tempted to take a sip to prove he was still just as grown up as before.

“Yes, it will just be after Loki's nap time.” Thor smiled, Fandral snickering behind his hand.

Loki glared at the man and Thor sent a warning glance.

“I apologize, my friends, but you have to admit there is something… Rather humorous about this all.” Fandral delicately spoke.

Thor opened his mouth to retort, only for Loki to stomp up, still holding his little jam sandwich and slap Fandral's chest with it. Fandral gasped, looking baffled, as Thor cackled.

“Why, you!” Fandral choked out, only for Sif to pass Loki her half eaten sandwich.

“More ammunition, my prince.” She smirked, chuckling as Fandral's goatee was attacked by another sandwich.

Fandral whipped his head to Sif, looking betrayed. “You traitor!”

Sif shrugged, throwing a grape at Fandral, only to be smacked with a strawberry by Thor. It slid down her hair onto the grass as she sent him a murderous look.

“Now, now-” Thor tried to defend himself before Sif pounced.

Soon, it was a free for all, with Hogun holding Fandral down so that Loki could smear pastries on Fandral.

“Mercy! Mercy! I yield!” Fandral bellowed as Loki giggled, throwing water on Fandral's trousers as if he had an unfortunate bladder accident.

“Fandral peed his pants!” Loki giggled, pointing happily.

Hogun's face twitched into a smile as he nodded down at his blonde friend. “What would the maidens say?”

Fandral opened his mouth to insult Hogun only to have a fistful of grass shoved down his throat by a tiny hand.

Loki stood victorious, the only not one touched by food until Thor snuck up behind him and lifted him up into a bear hug, smearing all the food on his clothes onto Loki.

“No!” Loki squealed as Thor pecked his face with kisses, whipped cream all over his beard.

“Oh, yes! Why should only you be clean?” Thor cooed, smushing a beef sandwich into Loki's hair as the younger prince kicked his little legs and wriggled around desperately.

Eventually, Thor set his brother down and crouched to whisper into his ear. “Okay, let's attack Hogun. I'll distract him and you'll run and strike his legs with this sandwich.”

Loki accepted the sandwich, one of the small ones for him, and nodded determinedly to his big brother before waiting for the signal. Sif and Volstagg brawled in the background on the grass as Fandral worked on spitting up grass in the background.

Thor charged at Hogun loudly, catching the Vanir man's attention and Loki saw his time to shine. He ran forward, ready to hit Hogun only for the man to swerve on instinct, sending Loki tumbling right into the pond.

“Loki!” Thor gasped, all fun immediately sucked out of the atmosphere as he grabbed Loki by the back of his shirt, lifting him out of the pond.

Loki seemed unharmed but his eyes were closed and he was still, an imagine that terrified Thor until Loki opened his eyes and spat water right into Thor's face with a giggle.

Relief flooded Thor as he held Loki close, laughing nervously. “Oh, you little mischief maker!”

“I believe he is not the only maker of mischief here.” A familiar amused voice made them all look over to see Frigga and her handmaidens had arrived, smiling and hiding their giggles at the state of Asgards princes and fiercest warriors.

“Ah, mother.” Thor cupped Loki to him in one arm, sheepishly rubbing the back of his head.

Frigga raised a brow, eyeing all of them and the mess all over the grass. “When the truth about Loki was revealed I was aware there may be some… Mess but I did not expect it from you.”

Loki grinned, feeling very smug right now. He had totally made a fool out of everyone! Although it did sting a little that mother had expected him to wreak havoc in this form. After all, he was still Loki.

“We…We were bonding.” Thor weakly excused.

Frigga stifled a laugh behind her hand and nodded, looking up and down Thor, who was still covered in food, before nodding. “I can see that. Well, it appears like it's bath time.”

“Haha!” Loki teased up at his brother, confusion etched in his face when his mother gently wrapped his arms around his waist and lifted him into her arms. “Hm? Wai’ wha…”

“And then you're definitely due for a nap, are you not?” Frigga booped Loki's nose as his face fell at the unfortunate news.

“B-but ‘m wet already!” Loki protested, pointing to his clothes, warning chuckles from everyone else.

“That water is certainly not clean enough for royalty to bathe in, Loki. And look at all these stains. By the norns, I certainly have my work cut out for me. Thor, you and your friends are to bathe immediately. I do not want to see any leftovers of your little food fight littering my halls.” She sternly spoke to Thor.

Thor nodded, as did the others, as Frigga walked away with a wriggling Loki in her arms. Thor had no idea how to look after young children but he knew how to be a brother so perhaps this would all turn out okay.
