It was always mildly annoying when they were separated by a portal, Time found it so anyways. Sure it was good practice in being able to find one another and to make sure everyone remembered the various methods to 'call' each other. Of course some of the others had their tracking methods, Sky had his dowsing and Twilight his wolf form... but not everyone had those.
Time sighed and closed his eyes trying to focus on the way his magic tried to tug him. As he did so he felt a tug he'd almost forgotten about. His eyes flew open and he turned to face the direction it came from.
One step, slow and uncertain, then another. Soon he was running in the direction he'd felt that tiny tug from.
A glow under the snow came into view ahead.
Time dropped to his knees beside it, ignoring the twinge of pain from his back. He dug into the snow, carefully searching for the tiny form he knew was there under it.
Sure enough he soon held a tiny body, carefully cradling it in his hand before tucking it into a pocket sewn into his shirt, the pocket close to his heart so the tiny form would warm up quicker.
Once he was sure it was safely tucked into the pocket, wings arranged so they would stay safe as well, he got up and headed for the next tug on his magic.
As he traveled towards it his hand kept straying up to the tiny lump in his shirt and he felt like crying in relief. He'd searched for so very long, years had been spent traveling everywhere he could get to, and here she was.
He felt the tiny flutter of her wings against his skin and stopped. He carefully lifted her out of the pocket and settled her on his hand. She curled up into a little ball before stretching. Wings fluttered more and as she opened her eyes the glow got stronger, the same breathtaking blue he remembered guiding him for so long.
"Who?" She asked, peering up at him curiously, no doubt feeling the same tugging he'd felt towards her.
"Hello Navi." He replied, voice gentle as the Kokiri words easily came to him.
Her glow brightened as she flew up to eye level for him. She zipped around him a few times, studying him and going by the slight tugging he felt checking that she wasn't imagining it. At last she stopped in front of him again and flew a tiny bit closer, close enough to touch his face with her hand if she stretched.
"Link?"
He nodded wordlessly, a helplessly relieved smile on his face and tears in his eyes. She gave a delighted and excited chime before bumping against his cheek. Time laughed softly and cupped his hand around her so she didn't have to keep fluttering her wings to stay close to him.
"I missed you, Navi."
"I missed you too. I'm sorry I left."
"... I'm sorry I drove you away."
"No! That's not what happened." She pushed his hand away and flew a little away from him, for a moment he was afraid she was going to leave again but she stopped and turned to face him, wringing her hands anxiously. "I thought my task was over. That I was going to... well to move on. I couldn't let you see that, I didn't want to make you watch me pass on."
"Navi..."
"I'm sorry Link. I'm here though, once I realized I wasn't going to pass on I started looking for you and I don't plan to go anywhere without you again!"
"... okay."
She seemed to realize that he was afraid she would leave and flew to land on top of his head. He sighed and closed his eyes, simply allowing his magic to mingle with hers and the bond between them to renew itself. Not long after, just before she could start to ask questions, and he knew there were going to be many questions, movement came towards him.
Time turned towards it and grinned as he recognized Wolfie bounding towards him. He moved towards his descendant and knelt, arms stretched towards him. Wolfie crashed into him and barked happily, tail wagging wildly.
"I take it everyone else is together?"
A nod and Wolfie backed away before walking in a couple of circles while Time got up.
"Ah, Twi, I want to introduce you."
Wolfie stopped and gave him a curious look before transforming back into a Hylain.
"Introduce me?"
"Yes." Time reached up and gently picked up Navi from her perch. He held her out towards Twilight. "Twi, this is Navi. She was my companion for my first adventure... and the friend I keep looking for. Navi, this is Link or Twilight my descendant."
"Hello!" Navi greeted him. She flew around Twilight, no doubt inspecting him like she had Time previously.
"Hi, nice to meet you. Are you going to be joining us?"
"I'd like to." Navi said, bobbing up and down a little.
Twilight smiled brightly at that and nodded. "Sounds good. Well all of our group are named Link so we all got nicknames. The old man here is Time. Now I got a question for you."
"Hmm?"
"Was he really raised by a tree?"
Navi laughed and Time grinned. He draped his arm around Twilight's shoulders. They started along the path Wolfie had made to get to him while Navi happily told Twilight all about the Kokiri Forest and the Great Deku Tree.
