But things take a turn when she crosses paths with Link, the Hero of Time himself. What starts as an unexpected meeting quickly turns into a close bond, and maybe even something more. Her world is thrown into chaos, adventure, and more. Together, they travel across Hyrule to save the princess, protect their home, and stand against the darkness threatening everything they know. This story follows the events of Ocarina of Time with a few twists and touches from the manga. So things aren't going to be one to one with the game. This is a years old passion project that is reimagining familiar moments through the eyes of someone who was never meant to be part of the legend, but has the chance to change everything.

Young Link is a boy living in the Kokiri Forest who does not have a fairy companion of his own. Yet, when he is called to venture outside his home and the only world he's ever known, he realizes that not only is the land in danger, he is the one that must save it. Along the way, he comes across a young girl who claims to be a friend of the Princess he has been assigned to meet by the Great Deku Tree. But despite her appearance, she's not what she seems. And, when the truth is finally revealed, he will do anything to find her again, even after seven long years...

My original summary, as it was written for fanfiction.net ages ago: "An oldie, but a goodie. Least I think so. A little tale I wrote back in the day, detailing what Link did when he returned from his fateful 3-day vacation."
I've come to really love stories about Link suffering (and healing) from the traumas acquired over the course of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Exploring how a person comes back (if they ever do) from the horrors he faced, both internal and external, is fascinating to me. This... this is not that. This is me tying loose ends that don't need to be tied and doing it sloppily. Also showing a complete lack of understanding of practically anything about Majora's Mask. But I was a kid, so, shhhhh.
I'm starting to pull together older works of mine. The bad, the worse, the... well none of it is good, so the not-so-worse? I want to put it all somewhere. Look at it again. Maybe be inspired to do better than I could have back then. Presented unedited, as-is, with minimal apologies.

Summary
The Kokiri had a saying: “Time’s arrow never stopped or reversed, it only flew forward with deadly accuracy.” It was as fatalistic and rigid as everything else Kokiri, ironic considering the forest was supposed to be a place things grew. That was the folly of Fair Folk like the children of the forest, they were unchanging and uncompromising. They did not understand their mortal neighbors, nor did they want to.
Link liked a Hylian saying much better. Viscen, that stubborn old knight, had told him when he was 17 but not really with a wicked smirk: “When you think you’re powerless and some asshole’s got one over you- grab em’ by the balls, and twist.”

"King Link of the Fae was not to be trifled with, but her father, King Rhoam of Hyrule, went ahead and trifled anyway. He encroached on the Kokiri Forests and took the resources without consent of the people living there. He ignored their requests to cease, but was unprepared for their military might when they met in battle. The Kokiri forces brought the Hylians to their knees, and would only stop if king Rhoam gave into their every wish.
One, he would never take from the Kokiri Forests without consent ever again.
Two, the Kokiri could travel freely throughout Hyrule.
And three, king Rhoam had to give up his daughter to be King Link's bride.
Zelda’s father had no choice but to give into their wishes, and Zelda had no choice but to agree. And so, three days ago, two Kokiri guards arrived to escort her to the forest."
Zelda is forced into marriage with the King of the Kokiri after he beat her father in war. She must navigate new experiences such as unexpected motherhood as she gets to know her new husband and realizes that he is not as he seems and puts everything she has ever known about her own parents into perspective.

Right in front of Link was a little girl who had fallen in the middle of the road. Covered in dirt from head to toe, her patched work dress hung off her like a coat hanger and was barely held together by threads. Then, at the corner of both eyes, was a small butterfly-shaped marking that glowed a dim blue light.
To say that Link was puzzled and extremely worried by this little girl's sudden appearance was an understatement to say the least.

As the Guide of Time, Sheik followed the instructions of the goddesses and Impa as they were given, for he would much rather be spared Din's Wrath in consequence of meddling with the cryptic plans of the Golden Goddesses. But after Sheik finds Link bleeding out in the entrance of Kakariko Village, he is left with no choice but to help the Hero of Time recover from a fatal attack.
Unknown to him, one tiny ripple with the pillars of fate can change the entire outcome of a journey.
Both good and bad.
