Chapter Text

Everyone always thought the Robins hated each other, I mean, who wouldn't think that they are constantly fighting or arguing. I mean, all the Robins at different points said they hated each other, but truth be told, they do love each other.

It is constantly said that the others hate Dick. At galas, Jason, Tim an Damian say they hate Dick because he's the "golden child" in Bruces eyes. However truly they think Dick is the glue of the family, always helping them with anything they need, making sure everyone is getting along, and other similar things. Tim or Damian don't know how to do their homework? They go to Dick. Bruce has to go somewhere for a while? He asks Dick to take care of the others, with the help of Alfred of course. If Alfred is tired Dick will offer to help around more than he already does. And many similar things.

But most importantly everyone trusts Dick with their secrets or problems. It makes him this sort of therapist for the family. No matter what, he is there for them. Though Dick never talks of his own feeling and puts on a happy facade, he will let the others talk and rant about anything and everything they want to, never letting on anything about himself.

There has been a few times dick was surprised to see one of the others. Tonight was one of those nights.

It was basically a normal night, Dick couldn't sleep so he went to the kitchen to get a drink. In the kitchen, there was Tim. He was sitting in a chair at the breakfast counter just staring into space. Had he been crying? It looked that way. Tim didn't even notice Dick was in the room because he was so spaced out.

"Tim? Are you alright?.."

No answer.

"Tim." Dick said slightly louder but not loud enough to wake any of the others.
That made Tim look up.
"O-oh Dick- sorry I never saw you I just-" Tim blurted out while wiping his face
"Hey it's okay. It's fine Tim. Are you okay though? You look like you've been crying."
"I-" He hesitates. "I'm fine"
"I'm a detective you know. I can tell you aren't fine. Tim you know I'm here" Dick spoke sounding concerned for his brother.
"I know"

Dick continued to get the drink he originally came to the kitchen for, he just grabbed a can of cola and a bag of crisps. Tim looked up and opened his mouth to say something but shut it before any words left. Dick saw this from the corner of his eye and turned back to the younger man.
"How about you come to my room we can talk there and there won't be a chance anyone else will hear us. We could even go to the roof if you want so you're sure no one will hear. Just please Tim, talk to me"
Tim nodds. "Your room is fine...just shut the door please." He spoke quietly.

The two boys went to Dicks room, Tim was walking at a moderately quick pace.

As soon as they were both in the room Dick shut the door. If he could he would've locked it but Bruce never trusted them that much.

"Sit anywhere, make yourself comfy at least." Dick said giving Tim the choice.

Tim sat at the edge of Dicks bed while Dick sat in his desk chair across from him.

"Your room is surprisingly tidy" Tim spoke
"What's that meant to mean" Dick gasped dramatically before laughing.
"Sorry I just mean I expected you to have atleast things on your desk, I don't know. I just mean like my room is a tip compared to this it's clothes and school work everywhere on every surface and your room is just so...clean" Tim tried to explain.
"Well...I don't have any school work anymore, and I literally just cleared everything, so yeah, it wasn't this tidy about 2 hours ago."
"It's 2am?"
"Yeah."

The two sat in silence for a minute.

"You want to tell me what's wrong or what? I mean you don't need to but I think it would really help."

Tim looked a bit nervous. He hesitated before answering Dick.

"Well, it's just..."

He paused

"You know how I like guys too...like I have dated kon before and I am going out with Bernard right." Tim sound slightly upset
"Yes?" Dick questions unsure where this is going.
"Is it wrong...it's just- I don't know. I know i dated guys before and im dating a guy now but its the thought that's always there. You know what people say, and I just think. I-its hard to hear you know"
"Tim, you know it's not wrong. You should never listen to anything negative anyone has to say." Dick said in a reassuring voice.
"Everyone says it's a sin"
"Well, those people are idiots. Those people are truly and utterly stupid if they actually believe that,"

Tim nods. He was holding something back.

"What else is there"
"There's nothing else I don't know what you're on about"
"I already told you earlier, I'm a detective and your brother at that don't lie."
"I'm fine"
"Clearly you are not"

Tim sat trying to stay silent but Dick just stared at him. Dick had this stare, one like a mothers, able to make anyone crack under the pressure of it.

"I won't force you but you are clearly upset by whatever it is." Dick tried to get him to speak

"Fine I suppose there is something else," Tim sighed

Dick tilted his head waiting for him to continue.

"Its just at school there's this guy in my registration class, his names Daniel, and he's just like really popular and well pretty homophobic and things like that. He's just been really annoying and hurtful recently, especially since he found out me and Bernard are going out. Since he found out he's called me and Bernard slurs almost every day, he's not as bad with Bernard from what I know, which makes it a bit better. But when he sees me he tells me horrible things. For example there was a fire not to long ago and he said I should've been in it and died for "being a fag," or he says i should just kill myself because no one loves me. And it hurts. It really hurts. And it's stupid because I am Robin. Or was Robin." Tim just ranted about they boy from school and everything he said.

"Tim, me and everyone else in this manor and Jason and Bernard love you so much okay. Don't you ever forget that. Yeah? I swear we do, no matter how much we fight and argue or anything similar we do love you and I am certain every single one of us would fight this Daniel kid for you. Even if he is a no body. You are loved Tim. Just because you are Red Robin doesn't mean it won't hurt, you are a human with emotions"

Tears were in Tim eyes as he thought about everything from the past few weeks. Everything. Every choice. Every regret. Then he starts to break.

"I-...I made a mistake"

Dick look really concerned all of a sudden.

"Tim what's wrong? What happened?" He goes over to tell bed and sits next to Tim.

"I let him get to me and the thoughts were to much I thought it would be better if i-" He didn't finish that sentence. He looked down.
"Damnit I was doing so good! I hadn't done it in ages and it went and messed it up again like always!" He raised his voice, as tears slipped down his face, now he was just angry at himself for his choices.

Dick wrapped his arms round Tim. That's when he really started to cry.

"Shh it's okay, it's okay." Dick was slightly rocking them both back and forth.
"I-im sorry, I'm so sorry, I broke the promise i-im sorry," Tim kept apologising over and over while sobbing into Dicks shoulder.
"Shhhh, Tim look at me." Tim looks up.
"It will be okay. You got over it before you can get over it again okay. And I will be here every single step. There is no need to apologise." Dick rubbed his back continuing to cradle Tim. "I swear it's okay."

Dick continued to cradle the smaller boy as he sobbed. Dicks words made it slightly better.

"Can I see...i don't need to, it's fine if you don't want me to"
Tim nods.
"It's okay,"

Tim rolls up his sleeve revealing the many cuts and scars. The older ones were slightly faded now and less noticeable but it was obvious the newst ones must have been that night or that week.

"How about we go clean these and I'll help put a bandage on them if you want"
"T-theres some on m-my leg too..." Tim's voice was shakey. Dick spoke up in that reassuring voice again. "That's fine we can clean and bandage them too."
"O-okay" Tim said nervously.

Tim pulls down his sleeve again to cover the scars. He stands and wipes his eyes sniffling in the process. Dick stood up with him keeping a hand on his shoulder the whole way to the bathroom.

"I'll be two seconds. I'll go get the bandages," Dicks voice was soft and caring.

Dick went to where the medical supplies were kept. On the way he accidentally bumped into Damian.

"Damian why on earth are you up at this hour"
"No reason..." Damians voice was quiet and honestly sounded like he was nervous.
"You know I'm here alright, always at any time of the night okay."
"I know"

Damian never was one to seek help he had a few times but most the time he refuses to "show weakness" and Dick tries to convince him it's okay to have basic emotions.

"Wait, why are you up" Damians curiosity suddenly peaked.
"Oh, I got injured on the last mission and I need to change he bandage but I've not got any left in my room" Dick said effortlessly as if it were the truth.
"Okay...whatever you say" Damian sighed loosing interest in the conversation.

After that he said goodnight and walked away. Dick got the bandages and things to help clean Tim's wounds before going back to the other.

"Sorry I took so long I ran into Damian, don't worry I told him nothing, I wouldn't do that without you saying it's okay."
"Thank you" Tim smiled ever so slightly at that.

While cleaning the cuts Dick looked up at Tim, seeing the slight pain on his face.

"I'm going to take anything I think you can hurt yourself with. Like any knifes, bateranges, scissors, razors and so on. Okay? That's the one thing I need you to for me. It's just precaution." Dick suddenly spoke up.
"Okay, it makes sense I know why," Tim states, accepting what Dick said.

Dick carefully wrap bandages around the wounds.

"Can you not tell the others...not yet" Tim sounded nervous.
"My lips are sealed, until you say otherwise," Dick smiled slightly at him. Tim smiled back his face still red from crying. "Thank you,"

"There all done," Duck said finishing tying off the bandages. "Think we should go to bed now, I can get those things out your room tomorrow or I can get them now whatever you prefer,"
"Can we get them now please. Just in case I, well, you know..." Tim looked ashamed of himself.
"That's fine, I understand."

The two boys went to Tim's room, Tim handed Dick any think that he could use to harm himself while Dick looked around the room for any others he would try hide. Just incase.
Once they got them all Dick put them where time wouldn't get them, any razors went to the bin, the bateranges went to the training room as well as any daggers.

After they were done, Dick went back to his room, finding Tim still inside. He smiled at the other.
"Right, you won't be able to get any of them unless you are on patrol or I know someone else is there. Now we can go to bed if you want, you can go to your room or stay here if you want. I don't mind"
"Can- ....can I stay in here, just for tonight?"
"Yeah that's fine. Come here"

Dick motioned for Tim to move towards the bed. As soon as Tim was close enough he hugged him.

"I'm always here okay. Always" Dick said quietly

Dicks crisps and drink from earlier sat abandoned on his bed side table as the two boys fell asleep still hugging eachother. It was probably really uncomfortable for at least one of them but they didn't care, Tim just needed his brother right now.
