Chapter 1: The perfect Mother

Chapter Text

Izuku Midoriya was always a seemingly bright kid, with a bright future ahead of him.

That is, until he got his quirk.

His quirk took some time to manifest, a little longer than most children, but once it did, everything he knew was taken away, everything he had was no longer there. His mothers love, his friends, hell even his happiness.
-
“Momma?” a young Izuku called out, “Yes sweetie?” Inko Midoriya said from inside the kitchen, “There’s something wrong momma, I don’t feel good, I-I keep hearing things that I know aren’t there.” Izuku didn’t know what was wrong but he knew he was scared.

“What? Well that’s not normal.. How about I make an appointment at the doctors office for you?” She said crouching down to Izuku’s height.

Inko was a good mother to Izuku always there for him whenever he fell, or accidentally hurt himself. Izuku loved her, and he knew that she loved him to, but it always seemed as if she was waiting for something. Something to call him out on, something to hate him for, but he had no reason to feel that way so he stopped caring about it.
-
“Well! It seems his quirk is starting to develop! We have an idea of what it might be but can’t say much until it fully comes in.” said Izuku’s primary doctor.

“What is it! What it is! I wanna know, tell me!” Izuku jumped up and down excitedly. He was so scared he wouldn’t get a quirk since it was taking Forever, which would be 4 months but seemingly forever in a 5 year old's brain.

“Well it seems to be an emitter quirk. From what we can see of the quirk you might be able to make people hallucinate.” said the male doctor, his smile seemed to drop a centimeter but Izuku paid little to no attention to that.

“I’ll be able to make people see things?! Momma did you hear that? I'm gonna be such a great hero!” while mumbling and thinking to himself a starry eyed Izuku didn’t notice how his mothers smile fell as soon as she heard her sons quirk.
-
Walking back home Inko didn’t look at her son once, she knew she was a good mother, she always tried her best, even when he was the reason Hisashi left her she still took care of him and tried to love him. But it was getting harder and harder to do that.

Izuku was always smiling and going on about being a hero, and his clumsiness always getting hurt every time they went to the park
Or just to get some groceries.

To make it all worse, he’s going to develop a villains quirk on top of all of that? How was she supposed to keep acting like she loved the thing, pretending like hugging him didn’t zap away all of the energy from her body?

Even through all of that she still acted as a mother towards him, bought everything he needed, fed him, clothed him, and pretended to love him as much as she could.

Because Inko midoriya was the perfect mother.

Chapter 2: The Exam

Summary:

It's time for the UA public entrance exam! What will our dear old Izuku do?

Chapter Text

The UA entrance exam was said to be the hardest exam in Japan.

Izuku was going to prove that wrong.
-
Walking into the exam felt nerve wracking, at first he didn’t really care, but once he entered the school where there were hundreds of students waiting to take the same tests, he just couldn’t think straight.

To be fair, Izuku knew he was smart, he knew that he would probably pass the written portion of the exam. So he entered the empty classroom, getting there a little earlier then others so he wouldn’t have to look anybody in the eye.

He found an empty seat in the middle of the room and sat down, opened his little composition notebook, and started writing. Writing about the schools interior, about the heroes he saw coming in and out, and some random kids outside the door of the classroom flaunting their quirks to their friends.

The green haired boy waited for what seemed like forever, until the classroom was finally filled up. There were tons of different characters there, a blue haired boy with glasses, that seemed to be taking the entire thing way to seriously, and a purple haired kid that looked to be very anxious.

Izuku just sat there, calmly, patiently, and without saying a word.

Present mic, the voice hero, walked in a few seconds later. It seemed as if the hero was trying to encourage them, but was failing miserably, as no one talked to him or even paid any mind to him.

“Remember kids! The written portion of the exam is going to be hard, don’t be surprised if there's some questions you don’t seem to know.” The loud blonde started off “Also please don’t try to cheat! It’ll just make things harder on you, and us! We will know!” Izuku was surprised people even had the courage to try and cheat, how stupid could they be?

Mic started to hand out the papers to each kid in the room, which seemed to stress out the purple guy behind him even more, and Izuku was starting to get tired of the way he kept bouncing his leg up and down, which caused the desk to make little noises. So he turned around in his chair.

“Stressing isn’t going to help you. Try to keep a clear mind or its gonna bite you in the ass.” The kid looked up at him like he beheaded his childhood dog named kite, but ultimately stopped bouncing his leg and looked at little calmer.

Izuku turned back around and waited for mic to say that they could begin the test.

“You can begin the test.. Now!” the voice hero said way to enthusiastically, but Izuku started on his packet and began writing.

By question five he realized that the test really wasn't that hard and he means really. The exam seemed to just be stuff he had learned randomly while paying little to no attention to his teacher who he couldn’t give less than two fucks about, which was kind’ve saying a lot.
-
He ended up being the second person to finish the test, first going to some kid with a nose piercing the finished it in ten minutes, Izuku guessed that he probably had no idea what the material was and ended up rolling a dice to decide on the answers.

He was now in the hall waiting for the rest of the students to finish the rest of the test, let’s just say Izuku was bored, so bored, there was nothing to do. So instead of sitting there doing nothing in very awkward silence he decided to just play some games he downloaded on his phone.

Don’t get him wrong. He knows his phone is a very old model but come on, he had to pay for it himself with money from a few odd jobs he did around his neighborhood. So what if he had to pick up so rotten garbage off the side walk to make a couple yen? Beggars can’t be choosers.. Or can they?

Who knows, but what Izuku does know is that he feels very uncomfortable now that he has finally noticed the presence next him.

Katsuki Bakugo , his childhood friend, turned bully, Izuku stopped calling him ‘Kacchan’ a little over a year ago. Who in their right mind would call someone who told them to kill themselves such a cute little nickname?

Soon the hall was filled up with hundreds maybe even thousands of students, he could probably cut the tension in the room with a knife, no maybe a chainsaw? He doesn’t think a knife would even make a dent in it at this point.

There was a girl in the middle of the hall with short brown hair that looked like she was about to start vomiting everywhere. He kind've felt sorry for her?

“HELLO LISTENERS! THANK YOU FOR COMING TO THE UA ENTRANCE EXAM! CAN I GET A YEAH!” wow Izuku didn’t even notice the hero getting up on the stage.

He ended up signing a ‘yeah!’ back to hero since he felt bad no one was responding, how awkward, but it seemed to make the man happy. Who was Izuku to make the guy have to deal with such a tricky situation?

“THANK YOU LITTLE LISTENER! NOW LETS GET STARTED” while the loud blonde screamed Izuku started taking out his little notebook for the second time to jot down what he was yelling about.

“There are multiple exam places that each and everyone of you will be placed in! Once I’m finished explaining you will head out the exit where ten buses will be waiting for you! Make sure to remember which bus you are on!” this guy talked way to fast Izuku was about to break his favorite pen with how fast the man was talking.

‘Oh? So kids from the same school can’t work together..’ Izuku thought to himself.

Honestly Izuku zoned out half way through the dudes little speech, he was just minding his business when the blue haired guy from the writing portion of the exam stood up.

“Excuse me sir Present Mic but, you said there would be four different types of villains on the exam site, yet you have only talked about three. Such a obvious error on the schools part, and you!” he pointed to Izuku who in return pointed back to himself “Yes you! You have been writing in that notebook the entire time! I mean are you even paying attention?! The sound is incredibly distracting, and if you aren’t going to pay attention then perhaps you should leave!” the random finished off.

‘Wait robots?’ Izuku expected that the exam was going to be mostly for flashy quirks but what the fuck was this? He had no way to use his quirk against robots..

Izuku named his quirk ‘thought bleed’ it projects violent or painful thoughts into others' minds, forcing them to experience phantom sensations — like burning or suffocation. Which would not be very helpful for this exam..

“OK LISTENER!” it seemed like Mic was going to try to deescalate the situation some how, “Examinee #7111, very kind of you to catch that! The fourth faux villain is worth zero points. Its there to put a damper on your situation, I would suggest to avoid it!” Mic said with a smile on his face.

“Thank you Present Mic sir!” Dang that blue haired kid is seriously annoying..

“Now! Go ahead and RUN or walk of course to your buses!” and Izuku has never stood up so fast in his 14 years of life to get out of that place
-
The exam site was huge and Izuku means huge. He was at the very front of the wall, waiting for it the door to open just big enough for him to run through.

Once the opening was big enough he ran through the gap and started throwing himself towards the robots, he could slightly hear mic in the distance screaming out “GO!” but he didn’t pay any mind to it. Instead he tried looking for a way to quickly defeat the godforsaken robots.

That's when he found it, an off switch, on the very back of the robots neck there was a little button with the words “Power off” on them it was kind’ve hard to find if you weren’t looking for it.

Good thing Izuku was very observant.
-
In the observing room Aizawa Shouta was watching every single examine very closely, making sure to not spend more then two minutes looking at one.

That's when his eyes landed on a tiny little green kid, that was scarily fast. The kid was taking down robots left and right while seemingly leaving some for the others. He wanted that kid in his class, so he turned to the little principle and spoke.

“Hey Nedzu. I want that kid in my class.” He said while pointing straight to screen exactly on where the camera facing Izuku was.

“Oh! Izuku Midoriya. Yes, I knew he would interest you! Don’t you worry I’ll take care of it!” Nedzu exclaimed way to loudly causing the other teachers in the room to turn to them. Aizawa put a stop to that quickly though by waving his hand.

He knew that the kid was going to become a force to reckon with.
-
Izuku was still in the faux city, he had stopped counting how many robots he had taken down, but it didn’t really matter considering he didn’t know how many points he had to get to pass.

People were acting very stupid and weren’t paying attention to their surroundings, so he took the initiative to help them out. When someone got to carried away with their quirk and almost hit someone, Izuku was there to quickly help the person who almost got hit.

Taking his time to make sure that they were ok before running off to get more points, and he’s pretty sure that there had to be another way to get points aside from taking down villains so maybe he would get some extra points from that to, well he hoped.

A sound, and then crashing after that. He looked up, and then he saw it, the zero pointer that Present Mic was talking about. The thing was huge, bigger than all the building and taking them down left and right. He was going to start running when he heard something, a scream?

“HELP! SOMEONE, PLEASE! IM STUCK” It was the brown haired girl from the hall, her leg was stuck under a bunch of cement. He knew he had to help in some way so he started to run towards her.

Picking up a dented crowbar from the ground while running, wait where the fuck did a crowbar come from?

Well whatever, that doesn’t matter at the moment, Izuku knew that there was probably a way to stop the robot if it was about to hit an examinee but the girl seemed scared out of her mind. He couldn’t just leave her there.

So he ran as fast as his legs would let him to the girl, “Please get me out of here..” She said, tears running down her face. Izuku didn’t really care much about what she had to say, so he stayed quiet and shoved the crowbar under the rubble and pushed as hard as he could.

She quickly took that as a sign to move her legs as hard as she could, and got out from underneath the cement.

Putting down the crowbar, he picked her up into bridal style and ran, he couldn’t tell for how long he was running but since the giant robot was taking huge steps every time it walked it was right behind them.

Then finally after what felt like years. The buzzer went off making the robot stop as soon as it took its next step.

‘Finally’ Izuku thought, yet the girl was still crying on him, ‘Damn she cries a lot..’ was the last thing he thought before he promptly passed out.

Chapter Text

Waking up in a hospital bed was not something Izuku thought he would find himself apart of.

It was definitely jarring when the Recovery girl walked in asking him if he felt alright, and saying that he passed out after the exam ended.

“Wait you’re saying that I passed out?” Izuku had never pushed himself passed his breaking point, so knowing that he had used that much power was weird.

“Yes sunny, you’ve been out for about an hour, once you’re ready you can head out that door.” And that was all he needed to here before grabbing his jacket and basically sprinting out of there.
-
Hitoshi Shinsou was absolutely terrified, sure his moms thought he could get into the most prominent high school in the country, but he didn’t think that. Because why would a school known for only accepting flashy quirks want someone with such a villainous quirk?

Hitoshi would never admit it to anyone that he was scared, but hearing that small green haired guy say that, ‘stressing wasn’t gonna help to and to keep a clear mind’ actually kind of helped a little. Again Hitoshi wouldn’t admit it but.. The dude was pretty cute.

But well, that didn’t matter, because the entrance exam was hard. The test was diabolical and he wasn’t even sure he knew what the word even meant he had to use context clues for most of it anyways. Don’t even get him started on the robots.

It took him most of the exam to even find the ‘power off’ button, and his quirk was definitely not suitable at all for robots. So he was pretty sure he didn’t make it in to the hero course, but whatever all he had to do was wait one week (which would be the most stressful week of his life) and then he would know.

Hitoshi was going to make it in, no matter what.
-
Walking home was fine, nobody there watching your every move, he could just walk in peace. That was fine for Izuku, he didn’t like talking anyway since it took so much effort, he preferred to sign.

Getting home was a whole different story though. He didn’t want to be there, but what could he do? Become homeless maybe?

Opening the door was like trying not to wake a beast, and tiptoeing inside was even harder, for context he was trying not to wake his mother.

Slipping off his red shoes and leaving them in the genkan, while slowly making his way towards his bedroom he came across his mom. She was sleeping on the couch again, tv turned up way to high and dozens of bottles scattered across the floor. He would have to clean that up when she left for work, but that was fine, he liked it that way.

Without his mother in the house (which was most of the time) it was quieter, cleaner, better. Izuku doesn’t know when he started to think that way, but he does know that he's right, completely and unforgettably right.

So he continues to tiptoe to his room slowly opening and closing the door, making his way to his bed, where he stared blankly at the ceiling for hours until the sun rose up out of its slumber.
-
Getting a letter marked with the UA symbol was incredibly weird. But never the less he took it to his room sat on his twin sized bed, and opened it.

What fell out was a disc, it was small and had a button right in the middle. Instinctively he pressed it and a screen popped up.

“I AM HERE! IN THE FORM OF A PROJECTION! PEOPLE HAVE NOTICED THAT I HAVE BEEN IN TOWN, AND THERES ONLY ONE REASON FOR THAT. I HAVE COME TO TEACH THE DEAR STUDENTS OF UA ACADEMY!” Izuku was, what the word? Stunned.

‘Wow, well.. Um, that is.. Certainly something..’ Was all he could think in the moment.

“YOUNG MIDORIYA, I AM HERE TO ANNOUNCE THAT YOU, YES YOU, HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED INTO UA ACADEMY. NOW LET ME EXPLAIN." The man was quite loud, Izuku wished he would lower his volume soon.

"While fighting the faux villains you gathered 43 points! Which would already be enough to get into the hero course, BUT, this wouldn’t be an elite hero school if there wasn't another way to get these points.” So Izuku was right, helping people actually came in handy for once. Wait did his wish come true?

“You see Midoriya, you saved a lot of your fellow peers from getting hurt! Which got you 67 rescue points! That brings your score up to 110, which makes gives you first place, and also makes you the holder of the highest score in UA history, welcome Izuku Midoriya to your hero academia!” Once the projection ended Izuku found himself dumbfounded. He had no words, which wasn’t necessarily out of the norm but that didn’t matter right now.

Izuku made it in, he made it in to UA, with the highest score in the history of the school none the less.

Well he did say he was going to prove them wrong..

Chapter Text

Walking up to the gates of UA was extremely weird. Considering Izuku didn’t think that they would accept him due to his quirk. There was loads of students walking in front of him, and to be honest he was already lost as fuck.

The hallways had so many twists and turns, he can’t even begin to explain how hard it is to navigate through them without a damn paper map.

After finally having to ask a 3rd year with blue swirly hair for directions he made it to his class. 1A the hero course’ first class. The door was huge, and he knows its because of different quirks and such, but seriously it was kind’ve offensive to him.

Despite the glare he was giving the door, he entered into the classroom. The first thing he saw was the blue haired stick up his ass boy trying to tell Bakugou that he needed to get his feet off the desk.

He was failing miserably.

The second thing he saw was a lot weirder. There was a man that looked very sleep deprived inside of a disgusting colored yellow sleeping bag. It was very interesting to see but Izuku decided that it would be best to just keep his mouth shut, wave, and look away.

On the board there was the seating arrangements, and dear little Izuku was right behind the one and only Katsuki Bakugou. But alas there was nothing he could do beside take his seat, look at the board, and zone out.

Well he would do that, but guess what. The brown haired girl that he saved from the zero pointer during the exam had come into the classroom and started stalking her way towards him.

“Oh em gee! You’re the guy that saved me during the exam.. I just wanted to thank you, I was so scared and couldn’t think straight, but you were amazing!” Izuku simply nodded to the compliments and signed to her his thanks.

“Ah.. I’m sorry. I don’t know sign language.” She said into her hands, but then seemed to realize something as her eyes widened animatedly. “I didn’t introduce myself! I’m Ochako Uraraka, it’s very nice to meet you!” At least he didn’t have to call her ‘Brown haired girl’ anymore.

Izuku took out his notebook and wrote his name on it, turning and showing uraraka what he had written.

“Ok, well it’s nice to meet you Midoriya!” Damn Izuku was already on his second nod, how much could this girl talk while simultaneously saying absolutely nothing?

Fortunately God was on Izuku’s side today and someone interrupted them.

The homeless dude in the sleeping bag stood up and finally announced his presence, “If you’re here to socialize then get out. This is the hero course.” no way, Izuku didn’t notice at first but as their new teacher slipped out the again, disgusting, sleeping bag he saw the infamous scarf. His teacher was Eraserhead?! The number one underground hero! Izuku was geeking out.

Though Izuku quickly contained himself, he was sure that the purple gravity defying haired guy beside him saw the moment of weakness.

“It took all of you eight minutes to notice me, well minus one person.” When Izuku got back to the apartment, he was gonna scream into a pillow.

“I’m you’re homeroom teacher, Shouta Aizawa.” Ok where the living fuck did he pull that gym uniform out of? “These uniforms are under your desks, head to the locker rooms and then head outside.” Grabbing his uniform, Izuku sped out of there.

His whole class was just following him around, he had no idea where he was going. Yet again though, God was on his side, he entered the men’s locker room and started to change as fast as he could. He didn’t necessarily like strangers looking at him half naked so once he was done, he speed walked his way right out.

Izuku quickly gets to the field where he sees Mr. Aizawa standing next to a square. He can’t help but think the older man looks kind’ve stupid.

Since Izuku got out so fast he was the first one there, he was just staring at the ground, and fiddling with his hands. So instead of just standing he decided to be productive and pulled his notebook out of nowhere.

He walked to a patch of grass, sat down criss cross applesauce style, and started to write an entry on his new teacher.

It was a little while before anyone else showed up, and of course the second one out was glasses. He seemed astounded at the fact that Izuku was sitting down, he opened it to say something, but quickly shut it just as face once he saw the others coming out of the building.

Once every single one of his classmates was out Aizawa began to speak, “It took fifteen minutes for you all to get here, that's simply irrational.” Wow his classmates were exceptionally slow.

“Uhm Mr. Aizawa, what are we doing out?” A girl with pink skin asked. Izuku was so done once he heard the words that fell out of the mans mouth.

Quirk assessment test

These people were going to be the end of Izuku.

Notes:

Chapter 5: Heyyy

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Hey my darling readers, it’s been a few weeks and I’m so sorry to leave you guys hanging for so long waiting for this story..

I’m sorry to inform you guys that I’m going to be abandoning this fic due to some personal issues.

When I first started writing this fic it was because I loved shindeku and apathetic Izuku but I saw there was less than 10 fics about it.

But while I didn’t believe in the ao3 curse at the time I certainly believe in it now because right after posting the first chapter my ex texted me and me and my gf got into a fight. Then I started to hallucinate, and right after the last chapter was posted I got into a car crash and broke my leg.

I just finished middle school and am now entering high school and I just don’t think I have the time to continue this fic.

So I thank all of my beautiful readers for taking time out of your day to read this fic I made on a whim, reading all of you comments always made my day.

Last but not least, even tho at this moment I can not keep up with the fic I won’t be deleting it because I’m sure one day in the future I’ll be up at 3am and decided to post something.

Again thanks to all of my dear readers and I hope you have enjoyed the story I have created.

Notes:

Even tho I’m leaving make sure to check up again in a few years, you never know when I might post again💗
