Summary
Truthfully, Orpheus knew this was stupid, even for him.
But he really wanted some of those muffins that Siren had brought to their last meeting, and he couldn’t be bothered to change for one measly child.
I mean, the kid in front of him couldn’t have been more than seventeen.
So he watched, waiting for a reaction that never came, and Tommy tilted his head with furrowed brows.
“Are you going to order, or just stare at me until we close?”

Tommy is complacent in his life. He's got a job with people he trusts, a sort-of-brother, and enough money to manage on his own when they age out of the system. He's doing perfectly fine for himself, thank you very much, and he doesn't need the sort of family that this Phil guy keeps trying to offer him.
Or, Tommy heals a villain and has to deal with the consequences of his actions.

Finally, XD moved. He titled his head to one side, and spoke slowly.
“You’re different.”
Tommy narrowed his eyes. “‘S that supposed to mean?” He asked, slumping his shoulders.
“What’s your name?” The god asked in return, instead of answering.
Reluctantly, the teen complied. “Tommy. Could I ask yours?” He lifted his chin to get a better look at everything. He wasn’t outside anymore, he was in a cave. How had that happened?
“Call me XD,” they said, before continuing with.. whatever the heck they were doing. “You’re not from here. You’re not supposed to be here.”OR
Tommy and Charlie get transported to the Dream SMP since the Deus Project malfunctioned after half of it being blown to bits. Tommy makes an.. unlikely alliance.

Summary
There is red. Red polluting the strings like a faint poison, enough so that most of the strings Dream could see was a mix of green to brown. But the red all branched off from–
Tommy.
The red is the brightest behind him, its glow matching the strength of a regular green string Dream could make before the crater incident happened. And the final piece of the puzzle finally clicked into place in his brain.
For the first time, Dream feels fear. Genuine fear of a little, bratty kid who was supposed to be nothing but a simple plaything for him.
Because Tommy wasn’t kidnapped.
He ran away.
And the red strings belonged to him.

Or, after Dream meets Tommy in exile and threatens to kill him over and over again, Tommy decides he’s had enough. From the beginning, he was always destined to lose, to suffer, to fall after playing hero. That was what the script told him to.
And he was fucking tired of following it.

... just so that Wilbur will stop calling him stupid names like "Cheddar" and "Danger Noodle with Legs", not so that he can feel more included amongst the people who he 100% doesn't consider his family, what on earth are you thinking?

Tommy rolled his eyes, staring down the masked villain Aves. He was an avian hybrid, like Tommy pretended to be. The man had massive black wings coming out of his back, and sharp talons that could slice skin within seconds, and cause warm red blood to ooze out of broken bodies he had bested in battle.
OR
Tommy accidentally catches the attention of the villain group SBI, and struggles to hide his hybrid powers from them.
