Chapter Text
They train for five days before the live premiere of the 118’s mini DWTS season, titled “Dancing with the 118”. There’s a lot of work to do, but the entire crew takes it in stride.
Buck struggles the most at first, since he doesn’t have a lot of natural rhythm. He catches on quick enough, teaching himself in his and Eddie’s house how to dance when they weren’t in studio. They all had to learn two dances in these five days, but one of them was the opening number with everyone participating.
They would all match and do a small number for the opening of the episode. The number is about 2 minutes long, with them doing parts of it in pairs and other parts as a group. It wasn’t too complicated, but it was enough steps that it caused Buck a bit of confusion, since he wasn’t a dancer.
Eddie on the other hand? He had been a trophy-winning ballroom dancer when he was younger, so he caught on within the first bit of practice and has been on a roll ever since. He quickly remembered the moves that had been hammered into his head as a child and moved with grace, more grace than the pro had even thought possible for a firefighter.
Ravi also had a fair amount of ease learnign the routine, despite never actually being a dancer. He had natural rhythm, as well as a tiktok dance addiction, so he caught on quickly and started learning the routines with little struggle.
Chim was okay, but he definitely had some improvement to do. It took him the entirety of the first day in studio to finally learn how to do formal moves, so he was a bit behind Eddie and Ravi. He did catch on faster than Buck, though. Buck was just good at teaching himself things by way of Wikipedia and Youtube.
Bobby was not a very good dancer. He may have been a good ice skater, but he was not made for a dance floor. He did his best, but most of moves were really stiff and did flow well into otehr moves. He was good at individual steps and moves, but he was not good at merging them together to create a seamless dance. He did his best, but his learning was not coming along as fast as it should have been.
Hen was just as naturally gifted as anyone would expect. She picked up on dancing way faster than just about everyone else and was pretty much able to wipe the floor with all of the guys on her team. She was in it to win it; she wanted to take her wife on a much needed vacation away from the kids. They deserved it.
This competition was going to be very fun. The theme for week one wasn’t anythign super specific, it was just a song that they liked and wanted to dance to. After they all chose the songs they wanted to dance to, the pros went about finding costumes that would look good for the style of dance they wanted, along as the song that had been chosen.
Bobby and Britt ended up with a costume that had Britt in a gorgeous, sparkling golden number with fringe and Bobby in a black sparkling button down and a pair of black slacks.
Chim and Emma ended up with a costume where Chim was in a green and white vertical-striped sweater and a pair of green slacks and Emma in a sparkling green fit with so much fringe.
Hen and Rylee have costumes where Rylee wears a two piece white set with fringe covering it and Hen wears a black and white thin vertical striped short-sleeved shirt with a few buttons undone and black slacks.
Buck and Brandon wear matching navy blue suits, with Buck’s being covered in sparkles.
Eddie wears a pink half-unbuttoned button up with white slacks and a white cowboy hat while Jenna wears a silver two piece set covered in long fringe.
Finally, Ravi and Witney are performing in a blue suit jacket and black shirt and slacks and a satiny blue dress with cutouts, respectively.
None of the contestants have seen each other in the costumes, nor have they seen each other dance. Opening night is going to be fun for some of the contestants. Two specific ones in particular.
