Work Text:
The park was bright and buzzing with life as random kids played on the swings, a couple of dogs tugging their leashes, and C00lk1dd scrambling up the climbing wall with all the energy of an ADHD powered 10 year old.
Shedletsky and 007n7 lingered near the benches as they watched, their shoulders brushing as they stood close.
That’s when someone sauntered over.
The man was tall, clean-cut, and with a grin too smooth to be natural.
He looked right at 007n7, eyes lingering far too long.
“Hey,” the stranger said, voice dripping with confidence. “Didn’t think the park would be hiding someone like you. You come here often?”
007n7 blinked, caught off guard by the strange man. “Uh… I’m here with my son.” He motioned toward C00lk1dd, who was halfway to the top of the wall.
“That’s cool,” the stranger said without missing a beat, stepping a little closer.
“But I meant you. Maybe we could grab coffee sometime, just the two of us, leave the little guy at home?”
Before 007n7 could even form a polite refusal, Shedletsky moved.
His arm sliding around n7’s waist, pulling him flush against his side.
His eyes sharpened, the playful sparkle in them long gone having been replaced by something far more pointed.
“Yeah, no,” Shedletsky said flatly, his smile tight, edged with warning. “He doesn’t need coffee. He’s already got me.”
The stranger’s grin tightened as he tried again. “I was just—”
“Just wasting your time,” Shedletsky cut in smoothly, his hand at n7’s waist flexed as if daring the stranger to push further.
He tilted his head, pressing a soft but deliberate kiss to 007n7’s cheek, lingering there long enough to make his point.
When he pulled back his voice dropped. “Do us both a favor and move along.”
The stranger frowned, glancing at the closeness between them before he muttered something about “a misunderstanding” before backing off down the path.
007n7 exhaled, though Shedletsky didn’t loosen his hold.
Instead he turned his head to search n7’s face. “You okay? He didn’t bother you, did he?”
007n7’s lips curved into a small smile. “I’m fine. You didn’t have to—”
“I did,” Shedletsky interrupted, his tone was softer now but still protective As he moved to hold 007n7's hand. “People need to know you’re not available. You’re mine.” To seal the deal, he leaned forward and kissed him.
Slow, tender, but with a possessive edge that left no doubt of its meaning.
From across the park C00lk1dd’s voice shouted, “Ew! Papa! Stop kissing and come watch me already!”
They broke apart with quiet laughter, though Shedletsky kept his hand firmly laced with n7’s.
Even as they walked toward the climbing wall Shedlesky glanced over his shoulder, just to make sure the stranger was gone for good.
