Work Text:
Danny grabbed his new husband’s arm and led him outside. “Are we ditching the wedding and all our guests already?” Steve joked.
Danny rolled his eyes. “No, I think my mother and Grace would kill us if we ditched everybody. Especially if it was for a quickie.” At least they’d go back to being their normal selves and not control freaks once this was over. “Let’s dance, McGarrett.”
Steve playfully pouted at him. “Not Williams?”
“We already had this discussion and decided we were keeping our last names, Steve.” Sue him if a little chill went his spine at the thought of Steve taking his last name, however (or vice versa). “Dance!” he ordered.
“Whatever you say, husband.” Steve winked at him, the two of them briefly glanced up at the full moon lighting the path, and started to dance.
“Don’t you dare drop me,” Danny warned.
“I wouldn’t dream of it,” Steve snarked back at him.
“I’m warning you!”
“Ooh, I’m scared.” Steve laughed when Danny twirled him around and dipped him.
The doors opened and Grace stomped out. “What the hell are you doing out here? Back inside!” she ordered. She softened for a second. “Okay, you two are adorable. Whatever. Get back inside now!”
“She’s so bossy,” Danny complained.
“The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.” Steve kissed his hand and then the two of them followed their daughter back inside. She gestured towards the head table and their chairs.
“Now sit, please.” She grinned at them and then didn’t leave their sides until Danny and Steve sat down.
“I’m a little scared,” Steve admitted.
Danny snorted. “You’re not the only one.”
Grace whirled around so fast they were surprised she didn’t make herself dizzy. “I’m watching you two,” she warned.
“God help us.” Danny was a little worried now about Grace turning into a bridezilla whenever it was her turn to eventually get married.
“Ah, she’s just excited for us. She’ll simmer down eventually. Hopefully.” Steve kissed him again, ignoring their guests’ wolf whistles, and then eyed the dessert table.
“Don’t even think about it - you’re going to drop something on yourself and ruin your tux, Steve.” Danny wrapped an arm around him.
“True. But we better get some for later.”
“Grace will make sure of it,” Danny promised, grabbing his phone and texting her.
The two of them had waited long enough to get to this point and they didn’t blame their daughter for wanting everything to go perfectly, even if she was driving everyone up the wall a little.
