Chapter Text
Saotome Nodoka wasn’t a fan of her daughter’s prospects, nor was she particularly pleased with the less than savoury business that kept the more distinguished aspects of her family’s fortune afloat.
How anyone could endure the selling of bodies was a mystery to the traditional woman, even if it was the very industry that supported her elder parents. But when she, in a drunken stupor after her husband ran off with her only child, went to visit the family brothel, she encountered a group of workers that were referred to by the rest of the staff as Newhalfs. The old-fashioned woman felt a strange sense of familiarity when it came to the young women’s descriptions of their situation, until she realized it was likely the very thing that had driven her husband to kidnap their child. Saotome Ranma was a Newhalf, and it shook Nodoka’s World.

Nodoka, privileged as she was, had unique power over the government. The woman was quick to call in a favour to have Ranma recognized as female in the family registry, and soon took care to prepare for her daughter’s return. Nodoka Saotome refused to let her daughter sell her body.
Nodoka only knew a few details of where her husband had taken her daughter, due to the probing ears she sent out to follow the crooked man’s every move. What she could find was always quite concerning, and her resentment of Genma soon became a ruthless anger. She instructed her “agents” to instruct Ranma to come to her home the moment one of them found her. She would be rewarded, after nearly 14 years of waiting, with a redhead plopped on her doorstep, covered in scars, with a letter from Genma to one Tendou Souun.
