Fluttering Wings and Feeling Things

Summary:

Chase is a butterfly and Nox is a moth. What else is there to say?

Notes:

This is a gift to the amazing mind that is LostStarAngel, who introduced me to their precious lil buggy universe, and I fear I will never leave... But I don't really wanna

Work Text:

Deft hands fussed and caressed the delicate antennae sprouting from a head of raven hair. The hands that held so gently to these fuzzy, long feelers were an extra measure of gentleness that maybe wasn't necessary. But the precious little purrs the grooming elicited made the owner of these deft little hands take extra precautions when handling such intricate things. He admired them, truly. Long black sprouts that looked like baby bird feathers.

They shuddered with every stroke and movement, leaving the owner of these particular antennae in a world of bliss that had him nearly falling asleep against the warm rise and fall of a gently breathing chest.

Then, suddenly, the hands paused their soft fluttering, earning a half-asleep groan. "Mnh, Chase, why'd you stop?" Nox didn't lift his head or even open his eyes; instead, he let his feelers atop his head, now freed from their rightful home within Chase's fingertips, shift and extend, twitching against the side of Chase's face and into his hair. Poking and prodding, tickling his ears, sliding under his nose, really anything he could do to annoy his butterfly into resuming his gentle massage.

A chuckle beneath Nox's ear, pressed firmly right over Chase's pattering heart, lifted his head from its stillness. "Stop it, dude," Came an amused, if sleepy morning sigh. Hands slid into Nox's hair, and small fingers circled the base of those antennae, coaxing another purr that sounded more like a mouse's squeak. The antennae fell away from Chase's face if only to shudder and shake with the contact of fingers through his hair. "I just needed to stretch, 's all."

The stroking of his delicate feelers continued, and each time Chase switched from stem to base, Nox pressed the ends of his fluffy antennae against Chase's face and hair in a gentle caress. Beneath his chin, around his ears, trailing up his delicate neck. At some point, Nox's wings, with a mind completely of their own, began fluttering uncontrollably.

"Nox!" Chase laughed under him, hands once again leaving Nox's head to shield his face from the rapid movement. Nox just dragged his hands over Chase's chest in an idle circular motion, face nuzzling directly into his diaphragm as if he could burrow a small home for himself there.

"'S your fault," He mumbled sleepily, slowly coaxing his misbehaving wings into stillness once more.

"How are you fluttering and falling asleep, weirdo?" Chase asked, returning his fingers to those silky rivulets.

"Skillfully, little idiot," Nox grumbled happily into Chase's stomach. A third delicate little hand came to rest against Nox's cheek, and he turned, albeit reluctantly, to leave the warm little burrow his face had made and press a gentle kiss against the palm. He could have sworn a small shudder wormed its way through both of them. A fourth little hand found its way to gently pet Nox's wings, and he knew this little butterfly would surely be his undoing.

"I love you," Chase breathed into the air. His breath coiled in the early fall morning. Nox's response was to re-nuzzle himself into the warm stomach beneath his head with a soft groan because he knew what came after that. "We should probably get moving soon."

"No," Came Nox's muffled reasoning. "I won't say it back unless we stay longer." Blackmail had always been Nox's favorite game to play with the little butterfly.

"Pff, withholding your love to get what you want, typical." Indignity tingled down Nox's antennae, and he lifted his head to look at Chase, moon-ly eyes pinning him to the spot.

"Rude, now I'm definitely not saying it." A third hand of his own that wasn't currently tightly coiled around his lover lifted to flick Chase in the forehead, right between his own short little antennae.

"Well, fine, be that way," The two little hands that had been tangled softly into Nox's hair recoiled and held themselves up, as if in surrender.

"Ah!" Nox squeaked in protest, fuzzy finders immediately moving forward to follow the fingers that had brought them such peace. Chase lifted his arms higher, the movement forcing the other two to wrap tighter around Nox.

"Not until you say you love me~" He sang, letting a smug smile form his features.

"But then we'll have to leave," Nox grumbled, shoving his chin defiantly into Chase's chest. Chase, to his credit, looked sympathetic to his lover's plight.

"Fine, we can stay a little bit longer… I guess," He was rolling his eyes, but there was no hiding the giddy little smile on his face.

Nox mirrored the expression and sat up just enough to level his face with Chase's. He placed a delicate little peck on one of Chase's cheeks. "I," His sensitive antennae worked their way into Chase's hair, and he placed another kiss on his other cheek. "Love," Nox, instead of vocalizing the last word, pressed his lips into the butterfly's instead. Nox kissed him just as delicately as Chase had handled his precious antennae. Slow, careful, and filled with so much passion it threatened to burst from both of them.

With a shuddering breath, he pulled back enough to look into beautifully split honeycomb eyes.

"You."
