Chapter Text

Taehyung ran his thumb over the crest engraved on the small wooden box on the table before him. He reclined in the dining chair, half listening as his parents tried to reason with him.

“Taehyung,” His father sighed, “You know this is for the greater good.”

“Think of all our subjects.” Taehyung’s mother chimed in. “All of your friends and family and old classmates. All of us are in severe danger with every day that passes and every hidden meeting of treason and organizing for uprisings.”

Taehyung let out a heavy breath, rubbing his eyes. He knew everything his parents were saying made sense, and he knew that doing this would be for the benefit of his pack kingdom.

He just hated the idea of it with every bone in his body.

The werewolf prince was still so young. He hadn’t even had the chance to explore finding a mate or leading his pack, and yet now his fate had fallen into the unfortunate path of signing his freedom away for the unforeseeable future in order to protect his species that he would never be able to rule on his own as the true heir.

“Please, Taehyung?” His mother continued to plead. “I don’t want to lose anyone, I couldn’t bear it. And I know you feel the same.”

It’s true. Taehyung did feel the same. Though still young, he was also too old to be ordered what to do now, resulting in the morality test of whether he cared for himself or his pack more. As much as he secretly wished he could be selfish enough to choose his freedom over the good of his subjects, he still cared for them far too much to let his animosity get in the way of their protection.

With one last frustrated exhale, Taehyung stood from his chair to look his parents in the eyes.

“Alright.” Taehyung said, taking the small box from the table. “I’ll do it.”

・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚.

At noon the following day, Taehyung and his parents were seated in the royal council room as they awaited their guests. Taehyung had to remind himself to stop grinding his teeth as he stared up at the ceiling and let his eyes follow along the gold trim. His pack members murmured amongst themselves at first, and then there was a knock.

The room instantly fell silent as the knight opened the mahogany door, revealing the vampire king and queen in all their ghostly pale, porcelain skin glory.

The werewolf council all stood and watched with hawk eyes at the vampire royalty and their nobility entered. The temperature seemed to drop ten degrees as the vampires’ cold bodies filed in, red eyes cold as they landed on the werewolves. Taehyung clenched his fists, his instincts urging him to shift and attack upon the first sight of their enemy cryptids, but he had to use all of his strength to refrain.

These were not his enemies anymore, but his allies. And the vampire prince was no longer his rival, but his betrothed.

As the vampire nobility took their seats, the last three to take their seats were the king, queen, and their son—Prince Yoongi. Taehyung hadn’t seen the vampire prince before, but once he analyzed the pale cryptid, his concealed fury subsided for just a moment.

His skin was just as fair as the other vampires, though it seemed somehow even more unbelievably perfect than the glassy appearance of his regal council. Vampires by nature were built to appear alluring, but Yoongi’s appearance was something unlike any vampire Taehyung had ever seen.

His complexion somehow felt more radiant, his black, Victorian style hair more textured and luscious than the others. He was slightly smaller than the majority of the vampire nobility, but Taehyung knew that didn’t mean anything. Vampires’ strength was the only brawn that could be compared with a werewolf’s, hence why they made for perfect enemies since neither had the power to fully wipe the other out—resulting in both kingdoms choosing to rule opposite sides of the mountain until now.

Conjoined together, they would be truly unstoppable, and every other cryptid species knew that. Any chance for an overthrow of either of their power would be foiled the minute vampires and werewolves joined forces…but that didn’t make them hate each other any less.

Once everyone was seated, Taehyung’s father and Yoongi’s father cut the silence and addressed the room.

“Thank you for agreeing to this council meeting.” King Kim welcomed them, with nothing greater than civility.

“The pleasure is ours.” King Min responded, neither royal party bothering to attempt a fake smile. “Prince Taehyung has agreed to the alliance matrimony?”

“He has.” Queen Kim confirmed. “Prince Yoongi is also willing?”

“He is.” Queen Min answered.

It couldn’t be more obvious that both parties were trying to get this over with as soon as possible so they could quickly rush from the presence of one another. It was a luxury that the council members of both species had, that Taehyung and Yoongi would not once they were wed.

They would be stuck in each others’ proximity for an undetermined period of time, and both dreaded that cursed moment.

“Well then,” King Kim continued, “I think it best to fulfill the ceremony here so we can prepare for our migration as a conjoined kingdom.”

“Agreed.” King Min stated, looking over at Yoongi with a nod.

Yoongi stood, walking down to the middle of the council floor. Taehyung strengthened his composure and made his way down, meeting Yoongi in the middle. Up close, he saw just how much smaller Yoongi was than him, along with the fact that Yoongi’s eyes weren't quite as red as his fellow vampires. If anything, they were more of an amber color, somewhat similar to werewolves.

It was something he might ask Yoongi about if he could manage to get over his disgust with the vampire…though, to be honest, Yoongi was far from disgusting to look at. Annoyingly, Yoongi was actually the epitome of an alluring vampire, and it irked Taehyung that he let his eyes scan over Yoongi’s figure for just a second before he realized what he was doing and immediately stopped himself.

“Do we have the matrimonial bangles?” Taehyung’s mother asked.

Their page boy rushed to their side, opening the tiny wooden box, where the gold bangle engraved with the crest of the werewolves rested on a black cushion. The Min squire opened their pure mahogany box, revealing the red cushion with the silver bangle inside, similarly engraved with their kingdom’s seal.

It took every ounce of restraint in Taehyung not to roll his eyes at the theatrics of presenting their peace wristlet as opposed to the werewolves' simple delivery of the bracelet. It also disgusted Taehyung to lay eyes upon, almost as much as the knowledge that he would soon have to wear it.

Taehyung took the bangle from the box in his page boy’s hands, clicking open the tiny lock so it opened enough to wrap around Yoongi’s wrist. The vampire followed suit with the silver band, unlocking it in preparation.

“May this matrimony bond the vampire and werewolf kingdoms in an act of peace so that we may live in not only harmony, but alliance with one another.” The vampire priest spoke. “Will both princes now symbolize our species' truce with one another?”

Taehyung fit the bangle over Yoongi’s wrist, the vampire prince doing the same. Both princes shivered at the vastly opposing temperatures of their skin when their fingers brushed over each other’s arms. To Taehyung, Yoongi was ice cold to the touch. To Yoongi, Taehyung felt as though he was 2 degrees from reaching a water’s boiling point.

“With the lock of our ceremonious bangles, we enact an eternal union with our kingdoms.” The werewolf priest now spoke.

Taehyung clicked the lock of the gold bangle on Yoongi’s wrist, the vampire prince locked the silver bangle as well, and then the ceremony was complete.

There were only a couple seconds of stoic claps from the council members and nobility, and then the newly wed husbands stepped away from one another.

“The princes will be escorted to their unified cabin for the night before our species migrate to build our new kingdom on the northern point of the mountain.”

Taehyung straightened his posture and turned to bow to his parents, Yoongi following suit with his own.

If they weren’t in front of the council, Taehyung’s parents probably would have embraced their son to bid him farewell. However, Taehyung was fairly certain that even in the confines of their own castle, Yoongi was probably still just as stiff and refined with his family members, as vampires tended to be.

The princes were escorted away by two knights of each of their kingdoms, leading to a shared carriage that looked far too common for royalty of their status. It was purposely crafted that way so as not to attract attention and welcome an ambush from opposing cryptids, but it still felt wrong for both of them to step into such a poorly crafted mode of transportation—led by donkeys instead of horses.

The knights got into the carriage with the princes to hide their armor, and the driver snapped the reins and led them down the paved path of their council room and onto the dirt road that would lead to their unified cabin.

If either royal family were willing to bend, the princes would stay in one of their castles. However, neither trusted the other to host their prince safely while surrounded by their once sworn enemies, so they had to make do with an abandoned cabin built by humans decades ago in the woods.

The ride was completely silent as they rode through the forest. The only sounds were the clomping of the donkey’s hooves against the dirt and the rattling of the knights’ armor inside the carriage.

Both princes were both eager to get out of the tight proximity of each other’s knights, but also dreading the moment when they’d be left alone with just each other.

The trek took about an hour, but finally the carriage stopped in front of the cabin. Their knights could not exit and potentially bring attention to the princes, so Taehyung and Yoongi had to climb out on their own.

They turned and gave a quick nod to their knights before heading to the cabin. As Yoongi walked up the stairs, Taehyung caught a glance of the vampire’s figure from behind, his eyes slowly gliding down the silhouette of his new husband.

It perplexed Taehyung how someone from a species so ghastly could look the way Yoongi did, but the werewolf had to snap himself out of it as he entered the cabin behind the vampire

The minute the door closed behind them and Taehyung pulled the curtains of the windows closed, Yoongi’s fingers went to the gold band on his wrist, unlocking it and tossing it on the table.

“Junky ass bracelet.” Yoongi huffed, wiping his skin where the gold had previously been placed against.

It was actually the first time Taehyung had heard the prince talk, and he was a bit surprised by how deep the tiny vampire’s voice was. It wasn’t as low as Taehyung’s, but the werewolf for some reason thought that with how pretty Yoongi was, that the vampire might have a softer voice.

Then again, he did come from a wretched species, so Taehyung shouldn’t have been surprised that Yoongi wouldn’t have a voice as angelic as his face.

“Well fuckin’ nice to meet you too.” Taehyung scowled at the vampire prince, reaching for the silver bangle on his own wrist to pull off and struggling to remove it with how dainty it was.

“Oh please, don’t even pretend like we were ever going to get along.” Yoongi glared at Taehyung.

“I knew we weren’t, but I thought that maybe your self-proclaimed demure and poised species would have a prince with a pinch more decorum than that.” Taehyung countered spitefully.

“I really don’t have any interest in performing my demure and poise to some animal.” Yoongi retorted.

Though the werewolf prince knew that they wouldn’t be getting along, calling Taehyung an animal was absolutely outrageous.

“Look asshole, I’m not any happier to be in this shit either.” Taehyung snapped back. “I wanted a mate, not a fuckin’ ceramic doll.”

“Yeah, and I wanted a human, not a fuckin’ mangy dog.” Yoongi clapped back right away.

“How could you want a human when you’re not even one yourself?” Taehyung scowled. “You’re a walking corpse.”

“A corpse is completely lifeless, moron. It’s just a dead body rotting away.”

“Exactly. And that’s what I’m stuck with for a husband.” Taehyung fired back, making Yoongi scoff and arch a brow.

“If I were an actual rotting corpse, then why are you checking me out every time I turn my back?”

Taehyung’s eyes nearly popped out of his head at the sudden accusation, matching Yoongi’s scoff in disbelief.

“So you’re dead and delusional?” Taehyung questioned. “Haven’t you been alive for like, a million years? And you’re still this clueless?”

“I don’t know if you’re forgetting that I don’t appear in reflective surfaces.” Yoongi said, a snide smirk curling at his lips. “Meaning, every time I turn around in front of a window, I don’t see my reflection. All I see is you, staring hungrily at me like the barbaric animal you are.”

Taehyung tried to act disgusted, though he noticeably looked a bit flustered, seeing as he couldn’t come up with a lie quickly enough to disprove Yoongi’s accurate claim.

Watching Taehyung try to do mental gymnastics to make an excuse for his wandering eyes was only stroking Yoongi’s ego further, and it infuriated Taehyung that he could sense the vampire getting increasingly more smug as the conversation continued.

“I’m not checking you out.” Taehyung finally countered. “I’m fantasizing what it would be like to stab you with a silver dagger.”

“Yeah, I’m sure that’s it.” Yoongi crossed his arms, still just as smug. “Since you’re not even well versed in that incorrect lore, the place you’d stab me is in my heart. Not my ass, while biting your lip.”

Taehyung was seething, both at Yoongi’s audacity…and the fact that he’d exposed Taehyung irrefutably.

“Fuck you.” Taehyung gave up the smart remarks, his temper getting the better of him.

“Clearly, you wish you could.” Yoongi sneered.

And maybe Yoongi was right in that.

Maybe Taehyung did want to take his cold little body and throw him on the nearest surface—tear off his clothes and fuck that snide little expression right off his obnoxiously perfect face. Maybe he did want to make the vampire moan and cry out for him like a desperate bitch in heat, and maybe he did want to knot the vampire and fill him with his cum as a reminder of who was in charge and who had who underneath them at the end of the day.

So, fine, Yoongi was correct in that. Maybe Taehyung did want to fuck him. But Taehyung’s yearning to fuck Yoongi was not at all because he was attracted to the vampire. His lust was fueled by his rapidly growing hatred for the vampire prince, and not at all because Yoongi might be the most beautiful and seductive creature Taehyung had ever seen.

“You’re fucking insane.” Taehyung shook his head.

“Yeah, keep telling yourself that while you struggle to take off the bangle with your fat wolf fingers.” Yoongi sneered, taking delight in the fact that he could see Taehyung still trying to subtly unlock his silver bracelet and failing.

Taehyung couldn’t even respond with a comeback before Yoongi was making his way down the hall to the bedroom, flopping down on the bed.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” Taehyung narrowed his eyes at Yoongi as he kicked off his shoes and jacket before getting under the covers.

“Relaxing.” Yoongi said, snuggling into the bed.

“Well go relax somewhere else. I’m sleeping there.”

“You can find somewhere else to sleep. I was here first.”

“Are you fucking kidding me?!” Taehyung demanded. “What the hell do you even need the bed for? Your kind doesn’t sleep!”

“Yeah, but we still enjoy lounging.” Yoongi said, fluffing his pillows. “We deserve it after long days of ruling this mountain with grace, as opposed to your kind’s reign of terror.”

Our reign of terror?” Taehyung could hardly believe what he was hearing. “Last I checked, your species are the ones that attack other cryptids and suck them dry for your wretched food supply. That’s the most putrid, terrorizing thing I’ve heard of.”

“Don’t act all high and mighty like those cryptids aren’t attacking each other anyway.” Yoongi shrugged off Taehyung’s comment. “Besides, I don’t do that, but I can’t control every aspect of my subjects’ lives. I’m too busy handling important matters.”

"'Important matters,' like what? Getting nearly overtaken by the cryptids who are finally uprising against your tyranny?”

“Hey, dumbass, did you forget the entire last three hours of bullshit we just went through for this goddamn alliance?” Yoongi asked rhetorically. “You guys were just as much at risk as us for draining the forest of resources. We’re both in trouble, and now I’m stuck married to you until you die.”

“My species is not the one responsible for draining the forest of its resources. Your species is responsible for draining the actual citizens of their blood.” Taehyung crossed his arms. “And I won’t be the one dying first between the two of us if I can find some way to kill you before.”

“Kill me, and our truce is over, and you’ve just signed away both of our species to extinction by turning us against each other while every other cryptid is already waiting to attack us.”

It infuriated Taehyung that Yoongi made a valid argument. If at any point vampires and werewolves decided to engage in another war, both of their kingdoms were done for. The minute other cryptids caught wind that the two reigning kingdoms were vulnerable, they would attack and wipe out both vampire and werewolf species from the forest.

Taehyung just grabbed the comforter off the bed, leaving Yoongi covered with just the bedsheet.

“Step foot out of that bed, and it’s mine.” Taehyung warned him before making his way back down the hall to the couch in the living room.

Taking the blanket was completely out of spite, seeing as Taehyung had more than enough natural body heat to never need a blanket. He couldn’t remember the last time that a blanket didn’t make him feel stifled in his sleep, and he hardly believed the lack of blanket would make any difference to the cold blooded creature in the bed either. Taehyung never felt cold, but Yoongi never felt anything.

Taehyung dropped the blanket on the couch and immediately walked outside to look out amongst the green forest around him. He needed to be careful when hunting out here, given that he would be alone and he wasn’t sure where other cryptids may be lurking.

However, when in his wolf form, Taehyung knew he was fast enough to get a kill quickly before other cryptids would detect his abnormal size and realize that he wasn’t a regular wolf hunting in the forest.

Yoongi, on the other hand, would have a harder time getting away with hunting in this forest without protection. It didn’t matter whether he ate or not—it’s not like he could die anyways. Taehyung felt a bit of solace in the fact that Yoongi might be miserable for the next day with no blood source.

Or better yet, if he had to ask Taehyung for help. Now that would be the ultimate treat for the werewolf.

Taehyung shifted into his wolf form and sprinted out into the forest, his nose leading him straight to the nearest deer within seconds. He decided to eat it rapidly right there instead of bring it back, so there was no way Yoongi could sneak some of the blood, and he made sure to get a good dose of the deer’s blood on himself to enhance the hunger Yoongi would be feeling.

Either the vampire would leave the bed to hunt so Taehyung could claim it, be miserable and starving the next day, or put down his pride and ask Taehyung to hunt something for him. Any of the 3 options sounded splendid to Taehyung, and he saw no world in which he lost as he filled his belly with his kill and headed back to the home—the entire endeavor taking no more than 5 minutes.

The following morning, Yoongi was staring up at the ceiling in utter agony. His irises were almost entirely black as every last ounce of blood he’d last ingested was long gone from his body, leaving him starved and weak.

Of course he hadn’t realized the grave he was burying himself in when he’d taken the bed and vowed not to leave for the sole purpose of forcing Taehyung to cram his giant body in the tiny sofa all night. He wouldn’t be surprised if Taehyung ended up sleeping on the floor in his wolf form, which really made Yoongi laugh to think about.

At least, it had been entertaining, until Yoongi’s stomach growling started to become unbearable as he just put up with the pain through all hours of the night. He knew if he snuck out, Taehyung would wake up at the slightest sound of Yoongi’s movement with his keen hearing, and he would be in the bed within seconds of Yoongi walking away from the mattress.

He’d debated slinking away to hunt a rabbit or some other small snack animal while Taehyung was hunting, but before he’d even had a few minutes to contemplate the danger, Taehyung had already returned—satisfied and full and covered in blood just to torture Yoongi with the delectable scent.

Deer blood wasn’t by any means his first choice, but in his starved state, any blood sounded delicious to Yoongi. He was fairly certain he would drink the blood of a skunk at this point and risk the animal spraying and covering him in stench for the entire journey to the northern point of the mountain.

A knock at the front door tore Yoongi away from his piercing hunger, and a wave of relief washed over him as he realized it was their kingdoms ready to come pick them up to migrate to their new kingdom. He prayed that perhaps one of his family members or friends had a tiny animal to offer him, but upon peeking out the window, he saw that the likelihood of that was small.

The vampires were all on foot, their luxury and wealth stuffed in the carriages, leaving no room for food of any kind. He assumed that they were willing to put up with the lack of blood for as long as possible before they had to conjoined hunt with the werewolves, which Yoongi absolutely refused to do, knowing that it would mean he was to hunt with Taehyung as a symbol of their unity.

He would rather starve the whole way if it meant mitigating any extra minute he had to be alone with Taehyung.

By the time Yoongi got down the hall, Taehyung was already out the door, hugging his father and mother. Yoongi nearly walked out, until his mother’s eyes widened and she pointed to her own wrist, trying to signal to the vampire prince that he was missing the bangle of unity.

Yoongi swiped the band off the table, securing it around his wrist quickly before joining his subjects outside.

“How was it?” Jin asked Yoongi as the prince descended the steps after greeting his parents.

“Just as awful as you’d expect.” Yoongi told him under his breath.

Jin opened his mouth to respond until he got a better look at Yoongi, his eyebrows furrowing in concern.

“Did you not eat anything last night?” Jin asked. “Your eyes are completely black.”

“I had a little something.” Yoongi told him, severely downplaying the fact that he hadn’t had any blood for days.

His anxiety for this wedding had diminished his appetite, which he was direly regretting now that his legs were trembling from hunger.

“Was that ‘little something’ a fuckin' dust mite?” Jin asked.

“I’m fine.” Yoongi insisted. “I’ll just wait until we all hunt.”

“We aren’t planning to hunt until tomorrow, if not longer.” Jin told him. “Once the other cryptids found out we unified, they panicked. They’re waiting around the forest now, ready to pounce the minute any of us break off from the pack.”

Yoongi could’ve cried if he were able to, but he muscled through his dismay.

“Well then, I’ll just wait.” Yoongi resolved with a nod. “I’ll be fine.”

Jin clearly didn’t believe him, but before he could say anything more, he was called for his turn helping to haul the carriage.

“Tell me if you need help.” Jin said under his breath. “I’ll figure something out.”

Yoongi knew that Jin meant it, because that’s the kind of friend he was. Therefore, Yoongi knew for a fact that he couldn’t show just how much he was struggling when he was near Jin so as to avoid his best friend potentially putting himself in a dangerous position in order to help Yoongi.

“Thanks, Jin.” Yoongi said. “I’m gonna hang towards the back of the pack to watch over and make sure everyone is staying together.”

“Your parents aren’t gonna be comfortable with that.” Jin reminded him.

“They’ll have to put up with it. I’m gonna be the first to rule alongside our new allies." Yoongi spat the word like it was a slur. "I won’t leave us vulnerable and turn my back on their kind.”

Jin knew he couldn’t argue with Yoongi once he’d made up his mind, so he simply accepted it and went to the carriage for his shift towing their possessions.

Yoongi had to admit, he was a bit jealous of the werewolves in just this one instance. They were much more comfortable living off the land in their caves and dens, despite their sovereign power, which meant they had very little to carry in their migration to the new kingdom.

Vampires, however, had centuries of opulence that they refused to leave behind. So now they were all falling behind the werewolves as they struggled to get across the forest floor with all their belongings, refusing to ask for help from the werewolves, who were getting increasingly annoyed with the slowed pace they had to travel at due to the vampires.

Yoongi had reasonable cause to trail behind and make sure the vampires were safe while they were all focused on tugging their possessions along…the only problem being that the vampire prince wasn’t sure how well he’d be able to observe with how increasingly dizzy he was getting from lack of blood.

Every sound of an animal scurrying along the forest floor or bird chirping in the trees rang like a siren in Yoongi’s ears, urging him to grab it and drink every last drop of blood from it.

However, he had to hold his composure as the prince and refrain from such animalistic behavior. Especially in the presence of the wolves, whom his species still deemed as barbaric and animalistic.

Yoongi gestured to his parents, signaling that he would observe from the back of the pack before they started again. The vampire king and queen nodded in response before leading the way along Taehyung’s parents. Yoongi noted how high the sun was in the sky, and felt a wave of dread as he started taking his first steps in the direction of their migration, realizing just how hard it would be to fight through his hunger for the long stretch of time until they could hunt the following day.

It didn’t take long for Yoongi to fall behind to a borderline dangerous distance, grabbing onto tree trunks in a desperate attempt to stabilize himself. He wasn’t sure how many miles they’d traveled before his vision started to go blurry, his stomach feeling as though it was collapsing in on itself, and his knees holding on by a thread from giving out.

“What the hell is wrong with you?”

Yoongi’s hazy vision lifted from where they were staring at the path before him to meet the big eyes of his husband.

“I’m just walking, dumbass.” Yoongi tried to sound threatening, though his speech was borderline slurring with his lack of strength.

“No you’re not. You’re stumbling and tripping over nothing.” Taehyung said. “Have you noticed how far behind you are?”

“I’m protecting my subjects.” Yoongi frowned up at him—even that action feeling far too strenuous.

“Oh yeah? From what, my species attacking yours?” Taehyung rolled his eyes. “You’re like a mile behind, and you look even more dead than you are. Do you need to be carried or something?”

The idea of finally giving his muscles a break from this torturous trekking only sounded nice for a moment, before he thought about how it would look being carried like a princess by the werewolf prince through the forest for everyone to see.

“I couldn’t think of anything worse than my species seeing you touching me in any way.” Yoongi groused. “Can you just go back to your pack? I’m fine.”

“You’re clearly not.” Taehyung shook his head in annoyance. “How is this even happening to you? Your kind don’t die or sleep, but you look as though you’re about to pass out like a mortal.”

Yoongi couldn’t respond before he tripped, slamming into a tree. Taehyung’s eyes widened as he prepared to grab Yoongi to keep him from falling.

“For fuck’s sake.” Taehyung groaned. “Can’t you just drink some of my blood to quench your dumb vampire thirst?”

“N-No, I can’t. Werewolf blood isn’t nutritious to us.” Yoongi tried to retaliate, but he was starting to see stars.

“Well the pack isn’t scheduled to hunt yet until it’s safe. What the fuck are we supposed to do now if you don’t get any blood?” Taehyung demanded, attempting to maintain his frustrated tone though the creeping concern in his voice was unavoidable.

“I need to wait for animal blood, dumba—” Yoongi couldn’t finish the insult before his knees finally gave out.

“Shit!” Taehyung said, and the last thing Yoongi remembered was toppling into the werewolf’s arms before he was completely blacked out.

・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚.

Yoongi’s eyes blinked open. The room was spinning, the only thing slightly grounding him being the familiar pattern on the ceiling that he’d been staring at for hours the previous night.

The vampire prince frowned, unsure whether he was in some weird hallucination. He flopped his head to the side, trying to make sense of the situation.

He was somehow back in the same cabin he’d been sent to the day prior when he and Taehyung had been wed. The last thing he remembered was struggling to keep up with his subjects and the werewolf pack, and now he was back in the bed that he’d so spitefully laid claim on in exchange for sustaining himself with nutrients

“Finally, you’re up.”

Yoongi blinked slowly and turned his head to see the werewolf prince walk through the threshold, holding a mug of some liquid. Taehyung looked just as annoyed as before, putting the mug on the bedside table before pulling up a chair to sit.

“What did you do?” Yoongi asked, slowly lifting himself up. He could only manage a reclined position on his elbows until Taehyung reached forward to pull him up so he was sitting back against the headboard.

“I carried you back here after you passed out. Then I risked getting ambushed and hunted a deer in broad daylight alone to drain the blood for you.” Taehyung said, taking the mug and bringing a cup to Yoongi’s lips. “Drink.”

It wasn’t how Yoongi normally opted to intake blood, but he didn’t have much to complain about at the moment—nor strength to suck blood directly from the source if an animal were before him. Taehyung cupped the back of his head as he gradually tipped the mug, helping Yoongi swallow the blood down without choking.

When Yoongi finished the cup, he leaned back against the headboard as Taehyung walked to the kitchen to refill the mug.

“Are you feeling better?” Taehyung asked, returning with a fresh round of blood.

“A little.” Yoongi shrugged. “Still super weak, but I can keep my eyes open.”

“I still don’t even know how you managed to pass out. I didn’t think your kind was capable.” Taehyung said, bringing the cup to Yoongi’s lips again. “Drink more.”

Yoongi managed to hold the mug in his hands with Taehyung keeping a hand underneath to make sure the vampire didn’t let it slip and spill blood all over himself and the bed. However, the vampire felt himself instantly regaining his strength, the amber color coming to his previously black eyes as every drop of blood replenished him.

“So everyone is waiting for us?” Yoongi asked, placing the empty cup on the bedside table.

“Nope. They have no idea we’re not with them.” Taehyung said. “Thanks to you and your pride to not let them see me carry you, they think we’re trailing behind to watch over them. And now they’re all on their way to the northern mountain without us.”

Yoongi’s eyes went wide as he stiffened, in disbelief of what he was hearing—refusing the accept the potential reality that he was actually back in this cabin with Taehyung, with no way to go catch up with their subjects and possibly survive an attack from other cryptids.

“So, what? We’re stuck here?” Yoongi asked in a panic.

“Yep.” Taehyung confirmed in irritation. “We can’t follow them nor get home without being ambushed and outnumbered. The only way we can reunite is if they all come back this way, or get to the northern mountain and send an army through the forest to retrieve us.”

“Well that’s just great.” Yoongi huffed. “Stuck with you for the next however-long-it-takes for them to come back through here.”

“I really don’t see how you think you have any merit to be the one complaining right now.” Taehyung glared at him. “You’re the one who starved yourself to unconsciousness, and I’m the one who carried you back here in stealth to allude any cryptid attacker, and I’m the one playing nurse while you can barely sit up straight.”

As much as Yoongi hated Taehyung, he couldn’t deny that what the werewolf said was true. He was the one who refused himself of food due to his pride, and he did tell Taehyung he could never let anyone see the werewolf prince carrying him, resulting in Taehyung’s only option of taking Yoongi somewhere to rest being the cabin they were previously cast away to.

“This is the worst.” Yoongi groaned, sinking back down into the bed.

“Yeah, I’ll say.” Taehyung huffed, getting up from the chair next to Yoongi.

He shed his shirt, Yoongi’s eyes going wide as he caught a glimpse before turning away, refusing to be caught admiring Taehyung's body like he’d identified the werewolf of doing to him just one day prior.

Soon the werewolf went to the other side of the bed, pushing Yoongi to one side so he was no longer in the middle where he’d previously been laying. Taehyung then got under the covers, resting his head on the pillow as Yoongi’s eyes went wide

“What do you think you’re doing?” Yoongi scowled at the werewolf.

“Sleeping.” Taehyung said. “I had a longass, sleepless night on that bench of a couch, and an even longer day carrying you back here in silence then draining that deer. I’m running on two hours of sleep, and I’m going to bed now.”

Yoongi wanted to argue that he refused to share a bed with Taehyung, but he knew he had no grounds to. Without Taehyung, Yoongi would probably be lying mangled in the forest, or living in humiliation of his people seeing him depend on the werewolf husband he hated.

The vampire had no right to tell Taehyung to get out of the bed, nor did he have the strength to get out of the bed himself and go to the couch in the living room. Instead, Yoongi just huffed and pulled the blankets up to his chin—noting that Taehyung must have replaced the comforter on the bed at some point in Yoongi’s unconsciousness.

He flopped onto his side, the blood giving him enough energy to do the small movement to face away from the werewolf prince. Yoongi hugged the blankets to his chest, his eyes fixating on the mug he’d previously been drinking from.

It wasn’t lost on Yoongi that the action was rather noble of Taehyung. The werewolf easily could’ve carried Yoongi through their packs and let the vampire prince be humiliated. Even further, he could’ve left Yoongi to pass out behind and abandoned him there with plausible deniability.

Admittedly, Yoongi couldn’t say with certainty that he would’ve done the same. He doubted that he would have left Taehyung to die behind the pack, but he surely wouldn’t have cared to protect the werewolf’s reputation like Taehyung had done for him. Taehyung could have soiled Yoongi’s image while also boosting his own as a hero. Instead, he’d let himself be trapped in this cabin along with the husband he hated until however long it took for help from their kingdoms to come for them.

Despite his unconsciousness for hours due to lack of sustenance, Yoongi now felt the exhaustion from lack of sleep the night before. His eyelids grew heavy as his body began to relax into the comfortable pillows, and the last thing his vision focused on was his gold bangle of unity on the nightstand—signifying that Taehyung had gone out of his way to remove it for the vampire.

Yoongi looked in the mirror on the wall to see Taehyung sleeping on his back, his arm visible and the silver bangle of unity still secured on his wrist. Before Yoongi could think to reach over and remove it for him, his lethargy won the battle, and he fell asleep.

Muted sunlight gleamed through the curtains, shining on Yoongi’s face in a gentle hue as the clouds were still subduing the rays’ strength.

Yoongi rubbed his eyes, letting out a little yawn before reaching his arms above his head and pointing his toes to stretch his body.

The relief that came with the morning stretch was quickly interrupted with movement directly behind him—against him. Yoongi frowned in confusion when suddenly he felt something around his waist and looked down to see strong, tan arms wrapped around him, now tightening with the vampire’s movement.

Yoongi looked in the mirror to see the werewolf hugging Yoongi back into him far too naturally, deep in his sleep still and bringing the vampire closer to him to continue his comfortable, deep sleep.

“What are you doing?!” Yoongi exclaimed, his eyes popping open as he squirmed out of Taehyung’s hold. “Get off of me!”

Taehyung startled awake, immediately retracting his arms from around Yoongi’s waist. He blinked, gathering the situation, and his face screwed into one of disgust.

“Oh, gross.” Taehyung recoiled at himself, sitting up and wiping off his arms.

“What the hell was that?” Yoongi demanded, sitting up and dramatically wiping the scent of the werewolf off of him. “Why were you groping me in our sleep?”

Taehyung frowned, looking over at the vampire with repugnance. “Okay, first off, relax. I was not groping you.”

“Well then what was that?”

“Werewolves are pack animals, alright?” Taehyung explained in frustration. “We sleep together in our den. I’m not used to having no one to hold at night.”

“And that sounds like a you problem.” Yoongi scowled. “Don’t mistake me for one of your smelly wolves.”

“Trust me, I never would.” Taehyung retorted. “Your tiny little ice body was an absolute last resort based purely on instinct.”

Taehyung sat up, stretching out his arms. Yoongi caught a glimpse of Taehyung’s upper body in the mirror, his eyes fixating on his chiseled muscles for just a moment before looking away, getting out of bed his eyes glanced at the gold bangle on the bedside table, debating whether or not to grab it and latch it on or offer to take Taehyung’s off to match his bare wrist.

“I don’t understand something.” Taehyung’s voice broke Yoongi from his contemplation.

The vampire looked over at Taehyung, training on his big eyes and praying the werewolf was faster in buttoning up his shirt.

“What?” Yoongi asked, secretly breathing a sigh of relief as the fabric once again completely covered Taehyung’s body.

“How do you even manage to sleep?” Taehyung asked him, fixing the buttons on the cuffs of his sleeves. “Did vampires really evolve that much in the last hundred years?”

Yoongi rolled his eyes, instantly abandoning the idea to replace his gold band. “No. Vampires don’t sleep.”

“Okay, but you definitely do.” Taehyung mirrored his husband in crossing his arms. “So how’d you get that human quality?”

Yoongi hadn’t really planned out the topic of telling Taehyung how he sleeps. He’d somehow been able to keep his sleeping abilities from the vampires for the past century, just coming across as a diva who needed to be alone at least 8 hours every night—the vampires unaware that he was actually sleeping during that time.

Obviously, living with someone in the same room as him, he was going to have to admit to his special ability sooner or later.

Yoongi exhaled, dropping his arms. “I found a witch to curse me so that I could sleep like a human.”

Taehyung’s eyebrows raised, unprepared for that answer. He figured perhaps vampires had just developed more powers or some potion, he hadn’t expected a vampire to go so far as to track down a witch and pay her fortunes for such a wish as sleeping abilities.

“You did?” Taehyung asked. “How’d you get her to do that?”

“I paid her everything I had.” Yoongi said. “It wasn’t much yet since I hadn’t earned the title of prince. I had to steal from the castle’s treasury and keep bringing more until she was satisfied and granted me the curse.”

It made Taehyung nauseous to think of just how much that must have been. Witches were not to be trifled with. They were known to curse the most innocent of creatures for the slightest inconvenience. The fact that Yoongi not only went out of his way to find one, but also risked the danger of robbery so he could pay her enough to grant him a favor? It was hard for the werewolf to even fathom.

“Why did you do that?” Taehyung asked. “I mean, what would a vampire even care to sleep that badly for anyway?”

The slight moment of cordiality Yoongi and his husband shared evaporated instantly as he scowled.

“Why do you care what I did it for?” Yoongi fired back. “Just because we’re married doesn’t mean you can pry into my personal life. I don’t owe you any explanation for decisions, and I don’t expect you to tell me anything about yours because I don’t give a fuck what you do.”

Yoongi’s unprompted and vitriolic reaction was truly jarring for Taehyung, the werewolf’s eyes widening a bit in bewilderment for the remarks made over a simple question.

The tension was palpable in the room, until Taehyung finally spoke.

“You have serious issues, Yoongi.” Taehyung shook his head before heading out of the room and looking back at the vampire. “I did you a favor and got you blood once. If you’re gonna be such a prick, you can hunt on your own from now on. I’m not doing you any more favors if this is how you’re going to thank me in return.”

With that, Taehyung exited the room. Yoongi glanced out the window to find Taehyung outside, shifting into his wolf form so fast Yoongi hardly caught a glimpse of him before he was running off to hunt.

Yoongi’s stomach growled, the blood from the previous night already going through his critically nutrient-deprived body.  The vampire prince was honestly pretty embarrassed now, reflecting on how fiercely he’d responded to Taehyung’s admittedly innocent question. It was just a mental area he hadn’t gone to since the curse had been granted over a hundred years ago, and he hadn’t expected for such emotions to boil up the way they had.

The vampire huffed as he scanned the surroundings he could see from his window, making sure there were no cryptids in sight that might be waiting for him. When the coast seemed relatively clear, Yoongi grunted as he got up and snuck outside, getting low to the ground and pressing his palm to it, feeling the vibrations for any animals close enough for him to safely catch.

He felt the thumping of a rabbit just a few years away, and Yoongi sped over to its burrow, reaching in and grabbing the animal before it had the chance to even realize it was being hunted. Yoongi rushed back to the house and straight to the kitchen to suck the blood over the sink so as not to make a mess.

It was nowhere near enough to fully satisfy him—not only because of the lack of blood such a small animal held, but also because bunnies were perhaps the least flavorful blood of all prey animals. Rodent blood was always bitter, only meant to be a last-resort snack for bare nutrients and nothing else.

Yoongi was too fearful to go outside again, afraid that some cryptid might see him and catch onto their hideout. He sighed, already feeling pent up as he tried to decide what to do with the rest of his day.

Yoongi hadn’t seen Taehyung come home that night. The vampire had just spent the day bored in the cabin, eventually finding sleep and waking up to a note on the counter from the werewolf, who had apparently returned just to leave it for Yoongi:

I’ll be gone for a few days. Don’t go outside and sizzle to a crisp under the sun

-Taehyung

Yoongi had glowered and crumpled up the note, throwing it to the corner of the kitchen before storming to the front door to catch himself something for breakfast. However, as he got to the door, he found a freshly caught deer hanging from the porch. Its throat was slashed and a bucket beneath it, draining the blood into a stock for Yoongi to drink so he didn’t have to go hunting.

Yoongi despised the fact that Taehyung went so far to prove his stupid point—and the fact that Yoongi already wanted to drink from the supply his husband had provided for him.

Begrudgingly, Yoongi walked over to the bucket where the deer’s blood had accumulated, dipping in the goblet Taehyung had left and downing the entire pint in one go. Though still not his blood source of choice, it was still refreshing to Yoongi, seeing as the vampire hadn’t gotten to hunt the night prior.

Yoongi drank another goblet full, then wiped his mouth and looked around the cabin once again for some source of entertainment. He hadn’t realized how Taehyung’s presence—though infuriating—had simultaneously kept him the slightest bit sane.

Despite being a homebody and far less social than his fellow vampires, Yoongi still needed some form of mental stimulation to keep from going mad in his preferred solitude. Whether it was spending days in the castle’s 2 story library reading through the surplus collection of books, playing on the grand piano in their ballroom for hours on end, or simply walking around the royal courtyard and taking breaks to journal or feed the crows, Yoongi always had something to keep his thoughts from racing if left completely alone.

Now, having none of his possessions since he hadn’t prepared to be stuck in this cabin for an undetermined amount of time, Yoongi was quickly starting to lose the battle to his own mind in the silence. He couldn’t walk around outside or even sit on the porch to feed the bluejays, he didn’t have any instruments to play or books to read, and he didn’t even have a form of pen and paper to write on.

He was left completely alone with nothing to do, nowhere to go and no one to talk to.

As the days went by and Yoongi grew progressively more stir crazy, he started to contemptuously miss Taehyung’s presence. At least when they were arguing, it meant there was someone there to argue with. Now he was alone in the cabin, and Taehyung was out doing whatever he wanted safely in his wolf form. For all Yoongi knew, Taehyung could be running to catch up with the pack, leaving the vampire prince stranded back at the cabin.

The werewolf prince could fabricate an entire tale about a cryptid breaking in and killing Yoongi—making himself out to be the hero who had to regrettably flee from the scene after realizing his husband had been killed. He might be deemed as a noble prince for trying to save Yoongi and protect the peace of both of their species, and Yoongi would be left to either rot away in the cabin or risk getting mauled in pursuit of his people.

Though the idea of that felt a bit unlikely to Yoongi. Taehyung hadn’t displayed any signs indicating that he could be that psychotically conniving, but in his isolation, Yoongi’s mind had nowhere else to go but to the extremes.

In the more rational moments of Yoongi’s racing mind, the vampire started to wonder just what exactly it was that Taehyung could be doing for all of these days. Even if he was in his wolf form, it was only a matter of time before cryptids might pick up on the fact that he was far too big to be a regular timber wolf in the forest, and sooner or later he would need to retreat to the safety of the cabin.

Could it be that perhaps Taehyung had been discovered in the woods by rebel cryptids? Perhaps attacked by a pack of trolls or abducted by ogres? Maybe he was even being held hostage and possibly tortured while Yoongi sat idly in the cabin and did nothing.

The idea of his arranged husband being chained up and screaming for help made Yoongi physically sick to his stomach and weak in the legs. The vampire started to panic as he listened to the sounds of the forest outside, as if he would somehow be able to catch anything that could be happening miles away.

As the sun was rapidly going down over the horizon and dusk began to settle, Yoongi’s conscience was urging him to take action and find answers—or maybe even find the endangered werewolf that he believed he hated.

It was dangerous to go out alone in the forest now that his species had fled to as far away from the other cryptids as possible, but Yoongi didn’t quite see any other option. If Taehyung was in trouble, Yoongi had to find him. The vampire prince was of no use if the product of his kingdom’s treaty was gone…and he also couldn’t live with the increasing anxiety over what might have happened to the werewolf he was married to.

The vampire spent the next hour mentally preparing for his potentially perilous mission. He knew what dangers awaited him outside the safety of the cabin, but he pushed reason aside, focusing all his thoughts on finding Taehyung.

Once the full moon was high amongst the stars, Yoongi braced himself, looking out amongst the dark woods. He knew that going out there while in the midst of cryptids colluding to overtake the throne was probably the worst idea ever—which only further perplexed Yoongi as to why Taehyung would do it—but he couldn’t live with himself if he found out Taehyung had been attacked somewhere and he wasn’t there to at least help him.

Even if the werewolf prince did get on Yoongi’s last nerve, he also had saved Yoongi twice…plus, they were husbands. The fact that it was an arranged marriage could be reckoned with another time, but the fact of the matter was that they were married, and Yoongi couldn’t just accept Taehyung’s disappearance without attempting to find him and bring him back to safety.

Yoongi drank the last ladle of his blood source, and with another deep breath, the vampire turned the handle of the front door and exited the cabin. He stepped onto the porch and did a quick perimeter check, his sharp eyes scanning the area around him.

His breathing was far too fast for how elusive he needed to be, and he took a minute to control it before slinking down the steps and instantly submerging himself amongst the vegetation of the forest.

Once concealed amongst the bushes, the vampire wasn’t quite sure what to do next. He couldn’t smell Taehyung, which meant the werewolf was probably pretty far. He knew better than to start calling out his name and bringing attention to himself, but he hadn’t the slightest idea how to track him otherwise.

Yoongi truthfully hadn’t had to work very hard to hunt or track in his life. The forest around his castle had always been safe and guarded, so he could jump in and find one of the ample forest creatures and have a meal in five minutes.

The werewolves on the other hand, were known for keeping in connection with the hunting instincts of their ancestor dire wolves. Even if there was prey close to their castle, they ventured out to make sure they kept their senses and skills sharp. Taehyung could probably track Yoongi with ease and purposely avoid him, but the vampire could only hope the werewolf wouldn’t be that spiteful.

Yoongi wasn’t sure how long he was trailing through the forest, diving into the bushes when he heard something rustling nearby as he went. It must have been hours and Yoongi had been walking for miles when he started to question whether Taehyung had just caught up with their conjoined kingdom. Perhaps he’d given Taehyung too much credit for a few good deeds, or underestimated his vengeance after being snapped at.

Yoongi leaned against a thick trunk and let out a heavy sigh. The only thing he could do now was go back to the cabin and try to figure out a way to trek safely to his new kingdom, or signal for help. As he pushed himself off the trunk and started to make his way back, he heard a branch snap in the distance, and he completely froze.

It was far too loud for it to be a little animal stepping a twig, and the thud of the branch falling on the forest floor meant that the creature who’d broken it was not just strong but tall. The sound was also close enough to pose a potential threat to Yoongi depending on what it was, and when he turned his head to look out into the distance, he saw a large pair of glowing eyes focused on him through the trees—everything else completely concealed in the pitch black darkness of the woods.

Whatever this cryptid was, was clearly humongous, and possibly not alone. Despite being a vampire with strength far surpassing most living creatures, Yoongi still wasn’t delusional, and knew that whatever that creature who managed to break a branch clean off a tree by just following Yoongi, was not a creature that he would have a chance in combat.

Yoongi took off running, a trail of dust brushing up behind him with his speed. He hoped that perhaps the cryptid was something akin to a sasquatch, where the size was intimidating but the speed did not stand a chance against a vampire’s.

To Yoongi’s dismay, this concealed creature not only met but surpassed the caliber of Yoongi’s strides, as the vampire heard and felt the glowing eyed-monster gaining on him. His heart was pounding in his ears and his vision started to get blurry as he expended the last of his energy, beginning to slow down—still miles from the cabin.

Yoongi’s footing became unsteady, and one raised root caught his shoe, sending him flying until he crashed against the dirt of the forest. As he started to regain his equilibrium, he felt the monster stop running, and when he turned around, he found that it was standing above him, stalking closer.

The vampire was shaking to his core as he scrambled back, the glowing eyes came closer, cornering him into a tree. There was nowhere to run, nowhere for Yoongi to escape so that the monster wouldn’t catch him. He was at the complete mercy of this giant beast, far too powerful for an energy-depleted Yoongi to fight off.

He could scream for Taehyung in a desperate attempt for protection from one of his own species, but he doubted that help would come. His husband hated his guts, and told Yoongi as such and that he’d fantasized about how to kill him. Why would he come to Yoongi’s rescue now?

The vampire now had nothing to do as the creature was just a few feet in front of him except clench his eyes closed and pray he didn’t make the mauling too painful.

Yoongi awaited the attack, his eyes shut tight for a minute before hesitantly opening them, one at a time. Once the creature was finally revealed under the moonlight peeking through the branches, Yoongi saw that it was none other than a werewolf. He stared into the eyes of it, and when he took a second to study the patterns of colors in the irises, his breath caught in his throat.

“T-Taehyung?” Yoongi struggled to get his words out.

The werewolf just stared at him with intensity, though no longer growling or focusing in on him like he was ready to strike. Yoongi and the werewolf just stared into each other’s eyes for what felt like far too long, as Yoongi was still trying to figure out whether or not Taehyung was going to tear him to shreds.

Even if Taehyung had the restraint not to kill Yoongi in his regular consciousness, Yoongi had no idea what headspace his husband would be in now that he was completely consumed by the full moon driving his werewolf instincts into full force and abandoning any humanity in the meantime.

After a few minutes, Yoongi felt just enough strength return to his muscles for him to slowly lift up his arm. He went at a snail’s pace as he reached up so his hand was before Taehyung’s face, his fingertips brushing over his fur.

The shrieking of a cryptid in the distance broke both of them from their focus and their heads snapped over in the direction of the sound. Taehyung’s eyes narrowed as he sniffed, his eyes scanning over the premises on high alert. He returned his attention to Yoongi and leaned forward, taking the vampire’s arm gently between his canines and tugging him to his feet.

In a swift maneuver, Taehyung ducked under Yoongi then stood up straight, effectively lifting the vampire on his back. Yoongi instinctively held onto the scruff on the back of Taehyung’s neck as the werewolf ran through the forest back to their cabin.

Yoongi had no idea what was going on, but he just noted feeling a sense of sweet relief blanket around him now that he was with Taehyung as the werewolf carried him away from the threats of danger. He held on tighter to Taehyung’s fur and soon he could see the logs of their cabin through the trees.

Taehyung walked up the porch and carefully knelt so Yoongi could slide off his back onto his feet. When he turned around to face Taehyung, Yoongi noted that even  while the werewolf was standing on all fours, he was taller than the vampire. His eyes bore down into Yoongi’s as he stomped his paw on the wood of the porch, as if to say “Stay here.”

Yoongi just nodded once and Taehyung maintained eye contact for a moment longer before running back out into the forest. The vampire was still shaking as he got inside and locked the door behind him. He practically crawled up the stairs and into the bed, curling up and waiting for his body to regulate again after the surge of adrenaline sparked from what he believed to be a close encounter with death.

The vampire wasn’t sure how many hours passed until the sun started to rise. He’d been staring at the wall, completely zoned out, until he heard the creaking of footsteps. He shot up and his head snapped over to the intruder, who ended up being Taehyung in his human form, entering the room with a frown.

“What the hell was that last night? Didn’t I tell you to stay here?” Taehyung groused at the vampire. “I even left you a blood supply so you’d stay put.”

Yoongi scowled, unprepared for Taehyung to act like he had no part in the vampire’s search for him.

“You said not to ‘sizzle to a crisp’ in the sunlight.” Yoongi retorted. “If you’d told me you were going into the full moon werewolf stage I would’ve taken that note a little more seriously!”

“I was going to tell you that morning, but then you went on your little bitch rant about how we shouldn’t pry into each other's lives. Therefore, I didn’t bother sharing that tidbit.”

“That ‘tidbit’ is a little more important than just dumping out our trauma and feelings.” Yoongi tried to counter, but he couldn’t deny that Taehyung kind of had a point as the werewolf huffed.

“So basically you’re the decision maker over what we are and aren’t allowed to share about ourselves? Am I hearing this right?” Taehyung seethed, crossing his arms.

A few nights ago, Yoongi might have continued arguing with Taehyung. But now he just had to be grateful that he was alive, when Taehyung could’ve taken his life with one swipe of his claws the night prior.

“Okay, you have a point.” Yoongi relented, looking away. “I’m sorry I snapped at you. I just don’t like telling people certain things about myself or being questioned about it.”

“That’s fine, and I don’t want you to share anything you’re not comfortable with.” Taehyung said, dropping his irritation into a more civil tone. “Can you just tell me that you don’t want to touch a certain topic directly next time instead of berating me?”

Yoongi despised when he had to admit he was wrong, but he was at least moral enough to put down his pride and apologize when he knew he should.

“Yes. I’ll tell you when something is an ‘off-limits’ topic.” Yoongi agreed.

“And on top of that, can we ban serious matters from the ‘off-limits’ category, like when you’re on the verge of fainting from blood starvation?”

“Or turning full werewolf mode during the full moon.” Yoongi added in to defend himself. “Deal. Important matters aren’t allowed in the ‘off-limits’ category.”

“Thank you.” Taehyung let his arms relax by his sides again. “Now that that’s settled, come downstairs. I drained another deer for you.”

Yoongi didn’t retort to Taehyung’s order with any snide words like he normally would. First, because he knew he didn’t have a right to, and second, because he was starving. The vampire took a chair at the table while Taehyung sat across from him, pulling twigs and leaves out of his hair and wiping the dirt off of himself from running through the greenery in his werewolf form.

The vampire watched as he sipped on the blood, flashbacks of Taehyung approaching him as a werewolf playing in his mind. Taehyung seemed to pick up on the stare, and looked up to meet Yoongi’s eyes with a frown.

“What?” He questioned, prepared for the vampire to make some jab about him being dirty.

“I’m surprised you didn’t maul me.” Yoongi said bluntly, subverting Taehyung from what he’d previously expected to come out of the vampire’s mouth.

“So am I.” Taehyung agreed with a shrug. “I guess my werewolf has a better grasp on human reasoning than I anticipated.”

“Is that normal?” Yoongi asked. “I thought the whole lore was that you guys morph into complete wolf form and go ballistic for three days or whatever. I’ve never heard of a werewolf having restraint during the full moon.”

“And I’ve never heard of a vampire that wants the ability to sleep, yet here we are.” Taehyung brushed Yoongi’s comment off. “Anyway, on my way back I found out some more news.”

Yoongi’s brows furrowed as he took another sip from the mug. “You heard news while in wolf form?”

“Yes, and the news is that apparently a lot of the cryptids in this part of the forest are on the move to follow our subjects as they migrate.” Taehyung informed him. “I guess they’re trying to find a time that they can attack them.”

“Okay, what does that have to do with us? It’s not like we can go warn them without getting killed.”

“We’re not going to warn them—they can fend off any cryptid when working together. But what it means for us is that we have a little more freedom around the forest.” Taehyung said. “In other words, I think we can finally go to the waterfall and get clean.”

Yoongi’s eyes widened, a spark coming to them as he imagined the concept of getting properly clean at last. He truthfully hadn’t imagined Taehyung would care to get clean—being a werewolf and all—but nevertheless, Yoongi was instantly on board with the idea.

After an hour of observing the forest through various windows in the house, the husbands snuck out of the cabin and quietly made their way to where the river turned into a small waterfall, landing in a natural pool of water nearby. They were on high alert the entire trip over, watching each others backs for any oncoming attacks or signs of ambush.

To their delight, they found that the area was peaceful, and the only sounds came from the birds or the harmless forest creatures. When they got to the water, Taehyung immediately shed his shirt and tossed it over the nearest branch.

Yoongi’s eyes widened at the sudden exposure of the werewolf’s godlike physique, and turned his head away.

“Jesus, Taehyung.” Yoongi exclaimed, covering his eyes.

“What? We’re here to bathe. How am I supposed to do that without stripping down?”

“Okay, but just give me some warning next time.” Yoongi grumbled, resulting in an amused scoff from Taehyung.

“Well, we are husbands now. We’re going to have to see each other naked eventually.”

“Why would we have to do that? Our agreement said nothing about consummating the marriage to that extent.”

“True, but we’ll be living together for quite some time.” Taehyung pointed out. “You can hide from me as long as you want, but I’m not bothering with that. Close your eyes, or look all you want. Makes no difference to me.”

Yoongi remained with his back to Taehyung as he heard the werewolf pull off the rest of his clothes, then plunge into the water. There was the sound of splashing from Taehyung swimming to the waterfall, and once Yoongi was certain that the werewolf was far enough away, he took a peek over his shoulder at his husband.

Yoongi had been with a handful of other vampires and even a couple humans, but none of them looked like Taehyung. The werewolf was tall, with honey tanned skin and broad shoulders complimented by his firm waist and impressive arm muscles to match the beautiful definition along the rest of his figure.

Vampires were genetically built to seduce, with their soft skin and sultry eyes and delicate features. Everything about sex with vampires felt like silk and lace, as though it were a provocative dance resulting in one beautiful climax.

Yoongi hadn’t been close enough to a werewolf to form much of an opinion on what intimacy with them would be like, but in his analyzation of Taehyung’s body, Yoongi imagined that sex with Taehyung would probably be rough and overflowing with passion and lust, as though it were an erotic wrestling match—one where Yoongi was destined to lose…though in a way, he imagined that his loss would simultaneously feel like a victory.

Taehyung swore he could feel Yoongi’s gaze on him, and unlike Yoongi taking a peek, the werewolf fully turned around to face the vampire. Yoongi was too quick, snapping his head away so that Taehyung couldn’t accuse the vampire of stealing a glance. Instead, the vampire pretended that he was occupied with disrobing himself, assuming that Taehyung had already gone back to his own bathing.

The werewolf did no such thing, standing and fully facing Yoongi as he watched the vampire let his shirt slide off his shoulders with each button he unclasped, and slip from his arms onto the rock. Taehyung’s mouth watered as the vampire’s slender waist made its appearance while Yoongi let his pants fall down to his ankles, revealing the vampire’s bare ass to Taehyung at last after the werewolf had been fantasizing about it since their marriage ceremony.

Yoongi hesitantly turned around to see Taehyung’s eyes locked on his figure, and the vampire nearly shrieked.

“What are you doing?!” Yoongi demanded, pulling his shirt from the rock to cover himself.

“Watching my husband get naked.” Taehyung answered shamelessly, admiring how he could still see Yoongi’s figure through the thin material of his white shirt.

“Well stop.”

“Why? It’s not like you can hide it from me forever.”

“I know, but that doesn’t mean you can just sit there observing me like a creep.”

“I fail to see how it’s creepy for husbands to be naked around each other.” Taehyung reasoned, effectively adding to Yoongi’s frustration as the vampire groaned.

“Will you just turn back around?”

“So you can keep watching me?” Taehyung teased the vampire.

“I’m not watching you.” Yoongi argued weakly. “Just stop looking at me, will you?”

Taehyung playfully rolled his eyes but relented, turning back to let the water rain down on him. Yoongi grumbled as he dipped under the water before he started washing himself. His eyes fluttered closed as he finally started to feel clean again, eventually reaching over to grab his articles of clothing and wash them next.

It was a struggle to pull them back on while he was still submerged in water, but he finally managed to complete the task then turned around to tell Taehyung he was leaving.

However, once Yoongi was met with Taehyung under the waterfall, letting the droplets drip down his perfect body, the vampire found he was at a loss for words. Taehyung was so impossibly strong, and Yoongi couldn’t help his mind from wandering to what the werewolf’s muscles must feel like. Yoongi never once for a second thought he would ever be attracted to the rugged, burly look of werewolves, but here he was letting lecherous thoughts taint his mind as Taehyung ran his large hands over his body to wash himself.

Yoongi’s lips parted, his eyes locked and his mouth salivating as he let his fantasies take full reign over him. He believed Taehyung to be oblivious to this, until the werewolf finally spoke.

“You should do something about it if you want me that bad.”

Yoongi snapped back into focus, turning away again before the werewolf could catch him in his voyeurism.

“What are you talking about?” Yoongi asked. “You’ve lost your mind. I’m just waiting for you to finally be done so we can go back.”

Taehyung chuckled to himself, stepping out from the waterfall and looking over at Yoongi whose back was facing him once again.

“You know I can smell you, right?” Taehyung questioned.

“Obviously you can smell me.”

“I mean beyond just your external odor.” Taehyung said, beginning to wade through the water as he approached Yoongi. “You can smell blood, but I can smell pheromones. And I know that right now, you’re emitting an intoxicating overload of pheromones every time you look at me.”

Yoongi scoffed, trying to maintain an indifferent composure, though doing a poor job. “Don’t you think those pheromones are coming from overwhelming hatred?”

“I can smell the difference. Hatred smells both bitter and rotten.” Taehyung said, advancing closer. “Joy smells sweet like honey and molasses, love smells floral like jasmine and roses, and lust smells decadent, like rich chocolate and cinnamon.”

Yoongi swallowed shallowly as he felt Taehyung get closer.

“You may be able to see me in mirrors, but I can smell how you feel. I can sense the pheromones in the air.” Taehyung taunted him. “And, in addition I’ve caught you staring multiple times.”

Yoongi bit his lip, still facing away in embarrassment.

“Don’t get shy now.” Taehyung teased, coming up behind Yoongi. “You already called me out for wanting you on our first day of marriage.”

Taehyung gripped Yoongi’s hips, pulling him back and pressing his hardening cock against the vampire's clothed ass. Yoongi moaned, trying to hold onto his dignity as Taehyung ran his hand along Yoongi’s smooth stomach, lifting up his soaking wet shirt as he did.

“Let’s cut the shit. Clearly we’re both lusting for each other.” Taehyung’s husky voice was just above Yoongi’s ear. “Are you gonna let me have you, or what?”

Yoongi chewed on his lip, trying to remember what value his dignity held now. It was extremely hard with Taehyung’s hands on him, his lips just centimeters away from his pale skin and his firm chest against Yoongi’s back, where the vampire could feel the bass of Taehyung’s deep voice vibrating against his spine.

Eventually, Taehyung let his tongue slip out, gently gliding along the curve of where Yoongi’s shoulder and neck connected, evoking a whimper out of the vampire.

“Okay.” Yoongi surrendered. “Take me, then.”

Taehyung spun Yoongi around, immediately grabbing his legs and lifting them up around his waist as he pressed his lips to the vampire’s. Yoongi wrapped his arms around Taehyung’s neck instantly, locking his ankles behind Taehyung’s back.

The werewolf walked them out of the water, pressing Yoongi’s back up against the tree as he began grinding against the vampire's hardening boner. Yoongi moaned and gripped the hair at the nape of Taehyung’s neck as the werewolf kissed down his throat, leaving shameless hickeys.

Taehyung’s hands slid from Yoongi’s thighs to his ass, firmly squeezing before massaging the globes. Yoongi moaned as Taehyung left another mark in between his kisses. The werewolf reached up and slipped his fingers into Yoongi’s mouth for the vampire to suck on the digits.

Soon Taehyung pulled his fingers from Yoongi’s mouth, supporting the vampire around his waist with one hand on Yoongi’s thigh and letting the wet fingers slip past the waistband of his pants and tease his rim. Yoongi arched into Taehyung as the werewolf ground between his legs, pressing up against his painfully hard cock still concealed from his wet trousers.

Yoongi was so unbelievably desperate as Taehyung slid one finger past his rim. The vampire winced at the minor stretch, but he knew he wanted more and that what was to come would inevitably be much bigger. Taehyung pushed his one finger in and out to get Yoongi used to it before he added the second, resulting in Yoongi digging his fingers into Taehyung’s shoulders from the discomfort of it.

Taehyung stretched him slowly for a few minutes, showing zero signs of fatigue from keeping Yoongi’s body up against him by the strength of one single arm. Once the werewolf deemed Yoongi prepared enough, he began curling his fingers every time he pushed them deep, until finally he found what he’d been searching for.

Yoongi yelped as Taehyung’s fingers pressed against the sensitive bundle of nerves, and the werewolf knew he would cherish the velvety sound of Yoongi’s moan for the rest of his days. Taehyung kept massaging Yoongi’s prostate, resulting in the vampire nearly going limp against him as he hid his face in Taehyung’s shoulder and tried to conceal his moans so as not to give the werewolf any more fuel to his cocky smile.

“Taehyung—” Yoongi whined as his legs started to tremble.

“Yes, Yoongi?” Taehyung asked, far too pleased with the state he’d put Yoongi in.

“At least fuck me on a bed.” Yoongi tried to sound snide, but it came across far too needy.

Taehyung just chuckled, pulling his fingers out of Yoongi and securing his hold around the vampire. “Whatever you want, princess.”

Yoongi couldn’t even glare at him for the condescending name as Taehyung captured his lips again. He carried them all the way to their cabin, up the stairs, until he laid Yoongi out on the bed.

When the vampire looked up to admire Taehyung’s completely naked figure up close, his eyes immediately went to his fully erect cock. His jaw dropped at how massive it was—far surpassing any dick Yoongi had ever seen, and he was too enthralled to even notice the self satisfied smirk Taehyung was giving him.

“Impressed?” Taehyung asked, testing to see if Yoongi would have anything snarky to say back.

Instead, Yoongi just scrambled to the end of the bed and opened his mouth. If he weren’t mind blindingly horny, Yoongi would have been humiliated with what he was doing. However, he just wanted every part of Taehyung more than he’d ever wanted anyone in his life.

Taehyung wasn’t even surprised, welcoming Yoongi closer with a hand under the vampire’s jaw, leading him to his dick. When Yoongi got his lips around Taehyung’s cock, the vampire moaned around the girth in satiation. The vibrations elicited a moan from Taehyung as well, as the werewolf watched Yoongi’s head bob while sliding his husband’s dick as deep down his throat as he could take it.

“What a gorgeous sight.” Taehyung grinned, pushing Yoongi’s raven hair out of his eyes. “You vampires really are made to seduce, aren’t you?”

Taehyung spat on his fingers to lube them up once more before reaching over and sliding two back into the vampire, finding his prostate almost instantly and finger fucking Yoongi. The vampire whimpered around Taehyung’s cock as he tried to maintain his rhythm, but the werewolf’s fingers were making him go weak.

Taehyung groaned as he leaked more precum on Yoongi’s tongue, and he feared he would bust too quickly if he kept his husband’s magical mouth around his cock. The werewolf grabbed the back of Yoongi’s hair, pulling out of his mouth and slapping his dick on the vampire’s face a few times while Yoongi stuck his tongue out.

Eventually Taehyung got Yoongi on his back in the bed, spreading the vampire’s legs and getting between them. Yoongi’s pupils were blown out with lust, his lips puffy and his damp hair disheveled. He looked like a meal ready to be devoured, and Taehyung couldn’t wait to ravage him.

Yoongi bit his lip as Taehyung grabbed his hips, positioning him right where he wanted him as he slowly stroked his cock. He looked into Yoongi’s alluring eyes with his own darkened by lust, and smiled deviously at the vampire.

“Ready, Yoongi?”

The vampire could only nod, far too eager to say anything else. Taehyung centered his dick at Yoongi’s entrance, pressing in the tip. Taehyung gradually pushed his hips forward, stretching Yoongi out with his massive cock. The girth nearly punched the air out of Yoongi’s lungs as he clenched his jaw and tried to remember how good it would feel soon. Taehyung picked up on Yoongi’s discomfort and started massaging Yoongi's hips with his thumbs to try and ease the initial pain.

When Taehyung was completely inside, it only took a few thrusts to locate Yoongi’s sweet spot again. Taehyung could feel Yoongi relax and twitch in his hold when he thrust into his prostate, then began speeding up whilst trying to control his yearning to fuck Yoongi like the animal he became during the full moon.

Yoongi reached up and gripped Taehyung’s shoulders, wrapping his legs around the werewolf to invite him to speed up. Taehyung licked his lips hungrily, sliding his hands up Yoongi’s hips, entranced by the fact that he could completely encase the vampire’s tiny waist. He admired how Yoongi’s tight stomach would flex when he hit his prostate, and how his precum would leak onto his silky skin.

Suddenly Taehyung paused, his dick lodged deep inside Yoongi. The vampire looked up in confusion as Taehyung reached for the nightstand and picked up the gold marriage bangle that Yoongi had thrown off upon arriving at the cabin. He grabbed Yoongi’s arm, latching the bangle on the same wrist Taehyung had his silver one on.

“You may hate me,”  Taehyung said smugly as he admired the jewelry on his husband’s wrist before meeting his eyes, “But you’re still mine.”

Yoongi frowned, pulling his arm from Taehyung’s grasp the werewolf's wrist where the bangle was, looking into Taehyung’s eyes.

“Well you’re mine too.” Yoongi countered, trying to get the upper hand.

All it accomplished was another snide smile from Taehyung, endeared by Yoongi’s attempt at leveling the playing field. Taehyung gripped both Yoongi’s wrists and pinned them to the mattress, his fingertip grazing over the metal.

“Alright. You’re mine and I’m yours.” Taehyung concurred. “Now I’m gonna make sure you never forget that.”

Suddenly Taehyung was pounding into Yoongi mercilessly, sending the vampire skyrocketing into another realm of pleasure. His eyes went cross and his jaw went slack as Taehyung assaulted his prostate relentlessly, the sound of their bangles clinking together paired with the creaking of the bed frame and scratching of the bedposts against the wood floor.

“Fuck!” Yoongi cried out, his vision blurring as Taehyung leaned down and kissed his neck, now biting over the hickeys as if claiming the vampire the way a werewolf would claim his mate.

The sparks of pain only added to the ecstasy building up in Yoongi’s core as he felt he was losing control of his body. He’d always been the one in control—the one alluring and seducing his lover until they couldn’t resist the sexual temptation, and then he would be the one determining what the night would look like in bed.

Yoongi was always soft and intentional and calculated when it came to sex, and he thought that’s exactly how he liked it. However, now that his huge husband made of muscle and dominance was holding him down and fucking him senseless, Yoongi wasn’t sure how he’d ever been satisfied with sex in any other form than this.

“Feel good, Yoongi?” Taehyung snickered above him, admiring his husband’s eyes go cross when he hit his sweet spot particularly hard. “You look delicious getting fucked out of your mind under me.”

Yoongi wasn’t sure if he had the ability to close his mouth from how hypnotized he was due to Taehyung’s borderline magical dick. The werewolf was fucking him so deep he swore he could feel Taehyung in his stomach, and his blurred vision began to fade into a blanket of white as his climax was rapidly approaching him.

“You’re clenching around me so much, baby. You need your husband’s dick that bad?” Taehyung taunted him, groaning as Yoongi’s tightening around the werewolf had him starting to lose himself too.

The base of Taehyung’s dick began inflating, snagging at Yoongi’s rim still squeezing around him. Yoongi could feel it and arched up with what little control he still had over his muscles, desperate to feel more of the new sensation. Taehyung could see Yoongi’s intrigue even through the vampire’s building orgasm, spiking his arrogance again over seeing his husband fall apart over such vulgarity.

“Wanna know what it feels like to get knotted, princess?” Taehyung sneered, the heat building in his stomach as his knot began forming, increasingly catching at Yoongi’s rim.

Yoongi whimpered, nodding to plead for it while he still couldn’t formulate words properly due to his building orgasm. Taehyung pulled out and flipped Yoongi over, his hand on the back of Yoongi’s neck pressing his face into the sheets as he pulled his hips up easily with one hand before fucking right back into him.

“Are you close, baby?” Taehyung asked. “You like that, don’t you? You like the idea of me claiming you and making you mine. You’re gonna be my pretty mate to pump my cum into whenever I want. You’re so good, just lying there and taking it like the bitch of the pack should.”

Finally the physical sensation matched with the debauchery spilling from Taehyung’s mouth crashed down on Yoongi, the heat building in his stomach exploding.

“Taehyung!” Yoongi cried out, his orgasm hitting him like the crashing of a wave as he came all over the sheets.

His toes curled and his fingers dug into the mattress as he screamed and moaned Taehyung’s name, sending the werewolf over the edge only seconds after.

“Fuck, Yoongi.” Taehyung cursed as Yoongi’s clenching around him brought him to his climax.

He shoved his dick as deep as possible, his knot locking him and Yoongi together as Taehyung filled the vampire with his load. Taehyung gripped the headboard as he pressed his hips flush against Yoongi’s ass, cursing as his climax finished.

As Taehyung’s vision started to clear, he looked down to see that Yoongi had passed out on the mattress, his body completely limp save the occasional twitching of his hips. Taehyung chuckled, gently brushing the hair away from Yoongi’s eyes so he could kiss the vampire’s forehead.

The subtle movement had Yoongi nuzzling into the feeling in his unconsciousness.

“Rest while you can, princess.” Taehyung rasped. “I’m always pent up after the full moon, and you’re gonna take care of me like a good husband should.”
