Troisième Homme

Summary:

L and Augustine talk about Lysandre.

Notes:

Technically, I've had this sketched out since December, but I decided to finish it for the ship week. It took longer than I expected (as is often the case with comics LOL.) Hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

Six pages long digitally drawn fancomic for Pokémon Legends Z-A/Pokémon X&Y. This is the first page. An older Professor Augustine Sycamore is sitting next to L on a low wall. There are trees and bushes behind them, and a little cabin. They are looking at each other. Sycamore is smiling, a little uncomfortable. L's face is neutral. L says, 'I was told you'd be the best person to ask. What was he like?' Sycamore replies, 'That's... kind of a loaded question, isn't it?'

Six pages long digitally drawn fancomic for Pokémon Legends Z-A/Pokémon X&Y. This is the second page. The first panel shows L speaking, seen in profile. He says, 'Mable showed me archives she kept from Team Flare. Videos, adverts, that horrible recording...' The second panel shows L seen from the front this time, surrounded by images of Lysandre displaying various emotions. L continues, 'Seeing him in motion, I thought I would begin to understand him better. But there's always this feeling, breaching through the surface.' Three smaller panels at the bottom show two zoomed-in views of Lysandre, with the last one showing L speaking with only the lower half of his face visible. L's dialogue goes on, divided through the panels: 'Wearing that face... like a mask.'

Six pages long digitally drawn fancomic for Pokémon Legends Z-A/Pokémon X&Y. This is the third page. Sycamore is shown on the left of the page, superposed over three more panels. The first panel shows Lysandre's left hand with his Mega Ring on. Sycamore says, 'He was a fascinating person, to say the least.' The second panel shows Lysandre shaking hands with someone who's obscured by the speechbubbles. Sycamore goes on, 'A good man, working to make the world a better place, no matter the toll it was taking on him.' The third panel shows Lysandre in the foreground, smiling and gesturing with his hand while Pokémon X&Y-era Sycamore looks at him in the background. Sycamore continues, 'I admired him for that.'

Six pages long digitally drawn fancomic for Pokémon Legends Z-A/Pokémon X&Y. This is the fourth page. The first panel shows Lysandre cut into two. The first half is him smiling, holding his hand in front of him. Sycamore's commentary goes on, 'Despite the constant exposure, and the time he spent surrounded by people who followed him and needed him...' The second half of Lysandre is shrouded in darkness, his face completely obscured. He's crying. Sycamore finishes, 'I came to realize he must have been incredibly lonely.' The second panel shows Sycamore, his head bent forward with a pained expression. L is still looking at him. Sycamore adds, 'My only regret is not trying hard enough to be there for him when he needed it.'

Six pages long digitally drawn fancomic for Pokémon Legends Z-A/Pokémon X&Y. This is the fifth page. The first panel shows Sycamore and L, with Sycamore at the front and L in the back. L says, 'I don't think you should blame yourself. You did your best. Even now, when I look at you...' Sycamore looks up at L, surprised. The second panel zooms in on L's eyes. He says, 'I feel a sense of peace, and restfulness.' The final three panels are focused on Sycamore's face. In the first one, he's half-smiling, taken aback by L's words. He says, 'Well...' In the second one, he's bringing his hand up to his face and tears are beginning to appear in his eyes. He says, 'That's...' In the third one, he's holding his face in his hands and has started crying.

Six pages long digitally drawn fancomic for Pokémon Legends Z-A/Pokémon X&Y. This is the sixth and final page. The view zooms out to show Sycamore and L sitting next to each other, drawn in a simpler style. Sycamore is bent forward, hiding his face in both of his hands as he cries. L has one hand on Sycamore's back and looks down at him with a saddened expression.
