Chapter Text
Calling what the Astral Express had a “morning” could be an exaggeration if one would consider that in space there was no night-day cycle. But the machine itself did have one, set by Akivili to keep their Nameless with a proper time for resting and waking up despite it being nothing more than a mere suggestion. The Aeon did not spend all their time amongst their followers, but they did enjoy being surrounded by the laughter of their people and how animated the place was when it was full of trailblazers on their way to a new adventure.
The second Akivili opens their eyes, the first thing they meet is a ruffled up red hair that badly covers a mismatched set of eyes.
“How long have you been awake?”
“Does Akivili want to guess?”
And once again, they are starting the day with a game. Being Aha's partner certainly brought a whole world of entertainment that never ended, like the longest and most exciting roller-coaster ride. They pretend to think for a second right before staring back at The Elation with a smile that could have warmed up the coldest object in the entire galaxy.
“All night?”
For someone else it would be a wild suggestion, but no one knew The Joyseeker more than them.
“Bingo! Akivili is the smartest Aeon ever!”
A sonorous laugh leaves the Aeon of Elation before their ear comes down to the pillow once more, a prideful grin never leaving their face as if they just made the greatest joke ever.
“It's hard to imagine you being quiet enough during all those hours.”
“Aeons do not need to sleep, and Aha likes watching Akivili, so Aha thought it would be fine to stay awake.”
Now Akivili is the one to let out a laugh, the small stars that still adorned part of the skin on their human form titillating for a second as if they were as real as the ones outside of the window. After that laugh, Aha looks even more overjoyed than before, even if it seemed impossible, moving to immediately hug their beloved while they were both still under the covers.
“Was it fun to watch me sleep?”
“It was, every second of it. I like seeing you breathe.”
“That sounds very uneventful.”
While they were talking, Akivili takes a moment to wrap their arms tighter around The Elation, closing both eyes as if they were to fall asleep again, but burying their face on the unruly red hair Aha decided to sport on that mortal form.
“Peace can also bring Elation.”
If Akivili did not know better, they would think that Aha was going mad. But they knew Aha has always been mad like that, just ending up pushing them on the bed to roll around and sit on their abdomen, having a view of their partner from above.
“By the sound of it, anything from me can bring you Elation.”
“For Aha, Akivili is Elation.”
Stupid as it was, more color than whatever they could have imagined rose to Akivili's face at those words. Even if dangerous, an Aeon calling another the goal of their Path was probably one of the biggest things that could ever happen. The biggest sign of love and devotion. Both of them could afford it, they have always cheated their way around their Primum Mobile, as their paths were the most broad, so much they could comfortably fit each other in them.
“I would take this as a proposal if we were not each other's half already.”
“And what if Aha wants to propose to Akivili again?”
They always joked about that, about marrying again even if they have already done so more than once… or rather, more than a dozen times. If one would consider a marriage only the first union, then whatever they had after was just celebrations to reaffirm what they had.
“Then I would accept again.”
“Let's do it then! And we can invite everyone again!”
“I will tell Pom-Pom to craft the new invitations!”
If any of them had an idea, the other was nothing short of an enabler, which made some of the other Aeons worried at times because the pair was as reckless and unpredictable as they could be. Nous was the only one that had any notion of what they would do thanks to their calculations, but they only used the knowledge to steer clear from the splash zone of any of their disasters, who were not few.
“Can Aha get a kiss for having the best idea ever?”
Pampered. Akivili had their partner completely spoiled rotten with affection, and Aha somehow always craved for more. The Trailblaze lets out a chuckle, covering Aha's colorful eyes and giving them a surprise kiss under their chin that makes Aha gasp immediately.
“Was that enough, Joy?”
“Not fair! Aha wants to see Akivili!”
As a revenge for the surprise, The Elation takes Akivili's hand and softly bites the wrist after freeing their eyes, but kissing the same place not even a second after, they could never be mad at the other for longer than a short moment.
“Mean Joy.”
“Mean Akivili.”
Aha sticks their tongue out in a mocking way, but Akivili just leans down and plants a soft kiss over it that touches their lips, making their beloved start to babble uncontrollably for a few seconds as if it was the first time they shared anything similar.
“Better?”
“Hm!”
The excitement coming from The Elation was completely visible, especially when Akivili took both their hands and intertwined their fingers. There was a moment where none of them talked, just looking at the other in complete silence and with absolute adoration. The love between Aeons was as strong as their own powers, and as broad as their paths allowed; it just so happened that the ones who fell in love were the two who could be considered the most human between them all. Akivili did not like to be predictable, and Aha themselves was an impulsive one, but even if they were both playing into a destiny previously drawn for them, walking a path already marked was not so bad if it was like this. Sometimes, even a trailblazer needs to go through a marked road in order to reach their final goal.
“Thanks for being my Moon, Joy.”
“For as long as Aha’s Sun shines.”
And so was their promise to each other every day. Caring not of how far or near they were physically, a Sun and a Moon could always feel the other in some way.
