Summary
After the events of the Metal Virus, Sonic tries to kick back and relax, knowing the incident has given him a few grey quills.
But there's a heavy dread that continues to looms over him, a feeling he can't quite place. Because everything is fine now. He's fine.
Sonic begins to doubt that (the first part) when the Chaos emeralds start acting off.
And everyone doubts the latter when Sonic starts acting off.
Something was very, very wrong.

The sensation, the teeth, the pain, the blood, the pleasure, the smell of metal, everything screaming run run run. Remembering too much had made him bite his lip to the point that he was bleeding, and that’s when he couldn’t take it anymore. He decided to go out for a run, even if it was 3 in the morning.

Summary
He wasn’t a guy who was so easily scared, much less of Shadow, but… Somehow, Sonic felt goosebumps trailing through his body, as if some instinctive part of him felt that something was wrong. His survival instincts screamed that he would have a better chance of staying safe on the raging storm outside than continuing inside, which was a ludicrous idea. Sonic knew Shadow wouldn’t hurt him (not much, at least), so why was he having such a dreadful feeling growing in the pit of his stomach?

Shadow is missing, and Sonic is called into a mission to find and bring him back. Even with the lingering feeling that something is wrong, Sonic still agrees to help, but maybe he should've listened to his instincts this time.
