Summary
Once upon a time, in a land divided by water and mountains and the hands of men into fourteen kingdoms, there was a prince. His name was Prince Timothy of the House of Stoker, ruling over the land of the fae, and though he was neither fae nor human, he would do as a prince should, even if his heart lay beyond, in the kingdom of ever-watching eyes.
So when his father commanded him to venture beyond the land of the fae and into the spiraling forests of the Twisting Deceit, wherein lay a tower so high it was thought to touch the stars, and rescue a trapped princess from that tower, Prince Timothy donned the lightest of leather armors, plucked his bow from the armory, and left his kingdom behind in the glow of the rising sun.

Of Prince Timothy, his lovers, and a princess trapped in a tower.

Tim Stoker is bi and proud, and also not a fan of people walking all over his friends, even if they're just the snappy guy who shares his research desk. Jon is just tired of explaining himself, please and thank you.

Summary
He knows that labels don’t really matter, but they still feel good. It’s comforting to know that he isn’t broken or a liar or confused; there are people in the world who share a word with him. They are bonded under a flag of black, white, purple, and grey.
Except, it wasn’t that easy. God forbid anything was easy for Jon. -

Summary
“The music is nice,” Jon says, leaning his head gently against the side of Martin’s knee. “It’s lovely, the quiet we have here, but sometimes the silence can get a bit…”
He waves his hand absently. “Oppressive.”
Martin lets out a small exhalation. “Yeah, I know what you mean.”
They sit for a moment, what would have been silence filled instead with the gentle hum of a jazz ballad. Then, the couch dips again as Martin stands and says, quietly, “Dance with me?”

Summary
Tim lives for those smiles and laughs, the casual banter they exchange as he pushes closer, and Jon stops pulling away. It’s not consistent progress; some days Jon barely speaks to him, and other days they’re going back and forth like old friends, but every day is good, because it’s Jon.
All of this, however, comes to a head when Tim gets to work one day, sees Jon, and feels something that he’s not entirely sure he can name. And of course, he goes to Sasha about it.

Figuring it all out is easier with a friend, even if you don’t get to the bottom of things.

Summary
"If the Institute was a nightmare, then Jon hopes Scotland is not a dream. Dreams, as he knows so well now, can be stolen. Worse, still, is that even the most wonderful of dreams is fleeting, and when they end, they’re so very rarely remembered. Those which remain in the light of day rarely hold up under scrutiny—They’re impossible, and worse, they leave a lingering bafflement. What was I thinking? Was I even thinking at all?
At the back of Jon’s skull is the doubt that he’s just one wrong move away from finally waking Martin up."

Summary
Jon lets out another little noise, and all in a rush, Tim thinks, I want to kiss him. So he takes a step closer to Jon, lets his eyes fall to Jon’s lips, and says, “Can I kiss you?”
The nervousness in Jon’s eyes multiplies tenfold, and in a quiet voice, like he’s admitting to something overwhelmingly tragic, he says, “Is it okay if I say no?”

“No, it’s- to be frank, I don’t think I’m cut out for all that.” Martin toyed with the mug in his hands, gazing into it like it held the answers he needed. “I’ve uh, tried to go on a few dates, meet people, that sort of thing. But they all expect something at the end and it just never feels right, I can’t explain it. Like there’s something missing. ”
In which Jon and Martin are more alike than they thought.

Summary
Fear is a funny thing, Sasha thinks. It can spur people to go to lengths they never thought imaginable, to do things they never thought they would do.
Maybe that’s why Sasha has been avoiding her best friend for a week—because she had sex with him and now can’t bring herself to admit that it was a mistake. Or, more accurately, to admit why it was a mistake.

“Don’t you notice something different about me?” Peter can practically hear the impatient foot tapping in Jonah’s voice.
Peter flicks his gaze up and down. “There’s quite a few differences, James, could you possibly be more specific?”
“It’s Elias now,” Jonah practically spits. “I’ve been in a new body for three bloody days and you haven’t noticed, Peter.”
“Of course I’ve noticed. I just didn’t find it worth mentioning.”

Summary
Martin remembers, with crystal clarity, the first time that he saw Jonathan Sims. Martin’s tea shop opens at seven in the morning to accommodate the morning commuter crowd, but they’re really busiest in the afternoon, which is when most people deign to take a break from whatever work they’ve got for the day.
Jonathan Sims is not most people.

“It’s just…kissing. Lips. Ugh.” Jon smashes his fork rather violently into a dumpling, sending bits of food flying across the table, one of which hit Tim directly above his eye. “I eat with my mouth.”

Summary
As time went by, he found himself seeking out some kinds of stories above others. Some made him ache with jealousy—wholesome families, protective siblings. Some felt distant and dull, especially when “coming of age” seemed to mean “find a girlfriend.” But friends—friends could be found. You didn’t have to be born with them. There was still hope, away from home, away from his mother...
He kept reading stories. Stories were all he had. He fought back the loathing that the touch of a book cover sometimes gave him, tried to fill his dreams with things other than nightmares.
