"I’m yours for the rest of my life, Hans, and even if I never hold you in my arms again, I'll still consider it a life well-lived."

As all good stories unfold, it started with an archery lesson.
——He knows he’s in trouble the moment those noble fingers wrap around his elbow to angle him better. But he’s absolutely fucked when Hans lays his chest flush with his back and that teasing, high-and-mighty Lord voice tickles his ear, “come now, Blacksmith’s boy, grip it like you mean it.”

Summary
“I’m sorry, sir. I’m going, and that’s that.” Henry slipped his arm free from Hans’ grip and turned to go, when thwack, it felt like he had walked headfirst into a solid wooden beam. Henry bent over clutching his throbbing cheekbone and caught a glimpse of Hans’ clenched fists at his sides.
“Did you just fucking punch me?”
“Yes, and I’ll do it again if you don’t listen to me.”

Summary
The sun was Hans' first lover, before any girl and long before Henry. Henry doesn't mind being second to that, because the sun left its kisses behind, in the freckles that dot Hans all over his back, clustered on the tops of his shoulders and arms, whispers of faded sunburns and brief boyhood escapes. Henry can't know every story, but he wants to ask, to try and hold all of them; he can't kiss every freckle, but he can try that, too.

Summary
Water dripped from the hair plastered to their foreheads, barely noticed as it fell onto their already soaked shoulders. Hans’ face burned as he looked up to the small ceiling-like covering above them. “Well, better this than catch the cold.”
Henry’s laugh was warm against his cheek, “You look like a wet cat.”
Hans’ eyes snapped back to Henry. “You take that back right now, yokel.”
Henry’s smile lit the space between them and that familiar ache he had felt all day in his chest felt like stabbing pain. “It’s even worse when you’re mad. You get all puffed up.”
“I do not-” Hans shuffled where he stood, squaring his shoulders until he realized it only pushed him further into contact with Henry. “You smell like a wet dog.”
The corner of Henry’s lip twitched higher, “Yeah?”
Hans’ reply, meant to be stern and assured, came out as a softly spoken whisper, “Yeah.”
---The Devil's Den harbored many secrets, poorly kept and air-tight alike. Hans hoped every glance he spared to Henry was locked away in a little box inside his chest – hidden and far enough away that nobody could see how much he was choking on his own want.
