crossovers that actually work
All too often, crossovers are poorly executed and/or clunkily fitted together. But every once in a while, they work. They really work. This is a collection of those crossovers.

See, the thing is no one seems to get the whole soul thing. The whole don't you dare frigging touch her thing. It's not like Peter's surprised by this, Yondu schooled good on all things daemon, it's just that you'd think after the first time he shot a guy point blank for reaching out to grab her the word would get around.

So Andy has this cousin.
Andy was six months older than Peter. People got them confused, but Peter was shorter and squirmier and Andy was rounder and, generally, happier. When they were six or whatever, this meant he got to do stuff like steal his Stretch Armstrong and it was no big deal.
UPDATE: Peter comes for a visit.

They say when you assume you make an ass of you and me.
Matt wishes that the Avenger's assumptions about his seeming inability to read the written word did something as benign as making an ass of him and them. Being called illiterate shouldn't hurt, not when he knows he's not, and it's not like he can tell them the truth.
Not that the truth would make much difference. He's just going to have to grin and bear it.
If he can.

Summary
Once upon a time there was a girl and a demon.
The girl’s hair was the color of Dust, a gleaming gold, and with it shining in the wind she lifted her sword, and drove it straight into the heart of the demon that had tried to call her little village its own. The people loved her. They say her soul was a brilliant white dog, a guardian, large as an ox. He grappled with the monster. With his fur a light to drive it back.
And so time turned on. Technology improved. The people lived. A thousand years passed. A kingdom grew, the loyal mutt-souls of the common people protected by the noble lines of knights, bloodhounds and shepherds and retrievers. Happily ever after, right?
Tsht. Yeah. You know, they say only dogs get happy endings.
(A Nimona daemon AU: in which Ballister's daemon changes shape, impossibly, the night of the Queen's murder, and this is of some interest to Nimona.)

“Have you ever thought about why everyone is a dog? About why you never see anything else?”
“Daemons are dogs,” Kiran says. Her voice, much quieter than Nimona’s, somehow gets the girl to go entirely silent, her cat-chest heaving. “They can’t be anything else.”
Nimona shrinks down into a pink-and-white feathered bird, her neck-feathers iridescent in the grimy light. “Oh,” the pigeon says, “so you turning into a pigeon was a mistake, then. That never happened?”
“That’s—” Ballister starts, but he’s frozen in place, because it was Kiran, but he remembers how it felt. The way she was illuminated by dying sparks. The way wind tugged at feathers, different than it ever did at fur. The sky, and how they could not see it. She could’ve flown. He didn’t want to leave the ground.
“Different?” Nimona flaps her wings. “Yeah. No.”
It is getting, Ballister thinks, harder to ignore.
Kiran’s paws twitch.
He says, “Gloreth was a dog.”
“Yeah. Uh-huh.” Nimona rolls her eyes, drawing her wings back in close. “So some girl a thousand years ago gets to determine the course of your life for the rest of, what, forever? Boss, think about it. What do dogs have that nobody else does?”
He’s humoring her. That’s all it is. Nimona is—better company than he thought she’d be when he first met her, but he’s not—her. She’s made that obvious enough. He has no idea what she is, but…this is his city. He grew up here. And sure, it has flaws, but…they can be fixed. He was trying to fix them. And he could’ve. He just—if he can get Ambrosius on his side, get rid of the Director, then…
“Loyalty,” Kiran says, lifting her head. Her large eyes stare at Nimona. Pigeons are small. Even Kiran’s bigger than them. “Dogs have loyalty.”
“Unquestioning loyalty.” Nimona shakes her head. “You can’t do this shit with cats.” She flicks into a cat, bunches up her muscles and leaps onto his shoulders, teetering, somewhat. “People hate cats for doing their own things. They shoot ‘em. With a sword!”
“Nimona,” Ballister says, as she climbs atop his head, “I have never in my life seen someone shoot a cat. You don’t even shoot swords.”
“It’s a metaphor, boss.” Nimona flops across his head, her tail twitching, dangling. “You guys aren’t cats because this bullshit doesn’t work if you’re anything else. Birds could fly. Oxen could stampede the place. Don’t get me started with the wild animals. But dogs—dogs are good, aren’t they? They’re just so good. They do what they’re told, and they’re happy the entire time. Who else would you send after monsters?”

August 26.
The day Ha Yichan and Yoon Cheongah welcomed their second born. A day that had always been tried to fill with joy to cover the shadow of the loss of a third son that never got to grow up. Eungyeol would grow up wondering sometimes how his life would have turned out different if Ha Eunjae had been by his side. How much they would have in common, how different they would be from each other. That day was always a reminder of what could have been for him and his family.
That day also happens to be Park Humin’s birthday too.
a.k.a a different take in the twinkling watermelon x weak hero class crossover I’ve seen people want.

“What if mom didn’t do it?” he reiterated, his father still unmoving “What if there’s something else we are missing? I think things are more complicated than–”
He didn’t flinch when the refrigerator door got slammed with force enough to shake it, he was used to it. His father turned around enraged, a level of anger that did send alarm bells on his head.
“What do you know, you brat?!” the man screamed “You think you know better because what? She was nice? She would do no such thing? Guess what, the world doesn’t work like that! You didn’t even know her like I did!”
Humin noticed how his eyes were starting to water a bit, but tried to ignore it.
“Dad, I didn’t ask you about this only because of that–”
“Then why exactly? You needed confirmation that you are not related to trash like me? Is that what you were hoping for?!” he kept yelling, but Humin still didn’t move. “You think I don’t see how you look at me, son?” he emphasized ironically “That I don’t notice how pathetic and useless you think I am? Or how all your friends glare at me when they come by? Huh?!”
“No, if you would just listen–”
“Well you got what you wished for! We should celebrate!” he exclaimed, laughing again while opening the full bottle, empty one on the other hand “We can stop pretending, right?”
Behind all that anger, Humin hated that he could see his father’s grief and despair as easily as he could breathe. He knew that this conversation would have probably ended up in an argument, but nothing like this.
“Dad…” he spoke carefully, almost as if the word was made of glass, and it seemed like it “I just wanted to stop feeling like this.” he admitted, his voice barely working as he did “I don’t think mom cheated, I found some things, and I think there’s more to it that we both don’t know, mom would never–”
He froze as the empty bottle flew across the room and crashed on his left shoulder.
Neither of them moved.
It wasn’t atypical of them to get into discussions, or sometimes even screaming like this, but it was the first time his father had done something close to hitting him before. He wouldn’t say he was the best, but he had never reached that low. Even with the pain he was feeling on both his shoulder and side of the face, he felt numb. It wasn’t the first or the last time he was hurt, but this felt different, crueler. Almost as if moving on his own, his hand carefully touched his cheek, feeling not only a few cuts but also the tears that were starting to fall, making them burn.
His father looked horrified.
“Humin…”
He didn’t bother answering, shake off the few glass shards on his shoulder, or grab anything other than his phone, jacket and shoes. For the first time in his life, he ran from a fight.

Cannibal doesn't cut it, not really.
Soul eater, he thinks, as he watches Hannibal Lecter prepare his next meal. There is ritual to his killings, there is beauty in the way he is inhuman. With every bite, he tries to regain what he lost so many years ago, trying to ingest their souls like he ingested his sister the night he should have died. It doesn't work, of course it doesn't. His reaper touches them before they meet their end (a mercy) and so he never stops trying, never stops killing, until it is his time to finally, finally be touched.

Louis had told him. About this, Louis was honest, Louis didn’t hold back. He said, blood pooling at the corners of his eyes, sharp-fingered hands dug deep into the ruff of fur at his jaguar dæmon’s throat, “And as I drank from Lestat’s wrist…that’s when I heard Léa speak to me for the last time.”
Daniel watched her lean into him, her sleek black body pressing close to her person’s leg beneath the table. On his own shoulder, Arsha’s talons dug into the fabric of his shirt until he could feel the prick.
“What did she say?”
“I want to be honest, Daniel,” Louis replied. His voice was steady, sincere. “I don’t wish to obfuscate or embroider…but some things must remain mine, I think.” He stroked his dæmon’s head and she looked up at him, silently, with shining green eyes. “At least this one thing.”
“I understand,” Daniel said.
And at the time, he thought he did.

“About, um– I wasn’t going to kiss you. At first.”
Oh.
Diego blinks, drums his fingers on his chest.
“What made you change your mind?” He asks, hesitant as he is because what if he doesn’t like the answer.
I got carried away. Payback. It was the heat of the moment thing. I thought it would be funny. I thought I’d like it but I don’t.
Dean shrugs jerkily, clears his throat, and starts peeling the label of his beer bottle. He mutters something that Diego doesn’t catch. Maybe he was too quiet or maybe Diego didn’t hear him from the sound of his heart beating in his ears.
“What?” He asks.
Dean clears his throat again, “I said I, uh, I saw you.”
