Everything's felt a little off since the Fourth of July, and no one's talking about it. Of course, one part of Steve's summer is a bit hard to ignore - he's losing his hearing. As luck would have it, a friend of Dustin's ends up playing a key role in Steve's adjustment to his new normal.

Summary
Watching Steve sit alone that first day- even with his ex and her new squeeze crowding his table- former King of Hawkins High with his bruised up face and puppy dog eyes, and apparently, knight in shining armor tendencies, Eddie never stood a chance.
It's Jeff, in the end, that finally badgers Eddie enough to let Steve be dragged over to their table- into Hellfire, and Dungeons & Dragons, and hopefully right into Eddie's arms- after Steve intervenes to stop Jeff being harrassed in the halls.
Now Eddie just needs to figure out what he's going to do with all of it.
Aka a hellfire adopts Steve fic, because give the boy some friends (and a boyfriend).

Steve kept his car door between them like a shield, that much Billy could see. He was sure Steve’s eyebrows were bent, mouth half-open. Almost winded. “Am I dreaming?”
“You dream about my car breaking down in the woods? Look, I’m kind of fucked. And normally I wouldn’t be asking, but could you give me a hand? My tire blew and I dropped my fucking keys and can’t find them.”
“You need a hand?” Steve asked, deadpan.
“Or you could leave me to die out here. Your call.”
Or, Billy's having a bad night. The cult in Hawkins Cemetery is just the cherry on top.
