Summary
"Make a wish, Cloud." Tifa pointed towards the heavens. Shooting stars streaked across the clear night sky.
A wish? Cloud always wished for the same thing. That you'd notice me. That you'd like me. That you'd want me. That you'd... He shook his head. “Like it'd ever come true.”
Tifa tilted her head and smiled at him. "You never know." Wagging a playful finger, she added, "Besides, wishes don't come true on their own, you know. You have to work for them."
Work for them? Okay, then. "I'll do that instead."In a modern twist to FF7 that removes monsters and magic, Sephiroth was once a SOLDIER 1st Class Special Ops Officer, who, for unknown reasons, lost his mind during a mission to Nibelheim and went on a rampage, murdering everyone he came into contact with. He ended his killing spree by blowing up the reactor before disappearing.
Five years later, Cloud Strife-presumed sole survivor of the incident-wakes up in hospital and learns of the tragedy, and discovers he's one of President Shinra's illegitimate children. More revelations rock Cloud's unsteady world view, but in the midst of things he finds hope and sanctuary with the one person he longed to see the most: Tifa Lockhart.

Summary
“Promise, you'll come and save me.”
Cloud tipped his head to one side and frowned. He looked so cute, it was all Tifa could do not to grab hold of him and beg him to stay. She didn't want to lose him, but a good friend supported their friend's dream, and if Cloud wanted to be a soldier then she'd encourage him and hope he found whatever happiness he was looking for. But, she couldn't just let him go without the hope she'd see him again. That, one day, he'd come back to her.Years after the incident in Nibelheim, that was just the start of Tifa's nightmare, not the end, she finally found a light at the end of the long, dark tunnel, when Cloud Strife appeared in Seventh Heaven. Gaunt and frail, she'd almost not believed her eyes, but it was him; come to save her at last.
Who knew what a task that'd be? Secrets and lies wrap Tifa in a web of confusion and doubt. The one truth in her life is Cloud, but even he has his demons to slay. Reunited, Cloud, Tifa and their friends each have trials to overcome if they're to get their happy ending.
The Promise continues the story begun in The Wish, but will it conclude here? Only the hand of fate knows.
