The corners of her mouth lift just slightly, the smallest of smiles, but it makes her face so easy and beautiful and it's really and truly genuine; my chest tightens and I have to hold my breath a little because I realize it's pretty on her - she's pretty, she's beautiful, and I haven't realized that about anyone in eighty years. All the blood rushes to my head, and some shuddery cold rushes down my scalp to my spine. I usually know the sensation as panic, but right now, the only thing I can think to name it is sinking, sinking reverence.
And, god, even with - no, especially with those sleepless eyes I just know have seen blood more than just in the surgical ward, the sharp, angular features that make her look like her face was cut of stone - the kind of features that would scare anyone else in the world away - she looks good. Not pretty. Pretty's not the word for her. Sounds juvenile. No. Statuesque. Resilient. Cutting, wicked sharp, like a freshly polished knife glinting in the light. Unflinching.

That was a question.
Original mission parameters were to not engage with anyone who wasn’t Hydra, keep himself functional, and wait for further instruction. As far as Barnes had heard and been told, Hydra hadn’t had anything to do with the outbreak, but they had thought that they would be able to use it. That they hadn’t picked him up before the programming decayed said that they had misjudged the situation, but he wasn’t absolutely certain.
"Not as far as I’m aware.”
Daryl paused, jaw clenched, shoulders in a taut line, hands tight on his bow.
