“I can’t believe we have her,” Naruto whispered, “We’ve wanted this for so long. We wanted a family and now we have Kiri. I feel like I’m in a dream and am going to wake up at any minute. It’s almost too good to be true.”
“It’s reality, moron,” Sasuke said, winding an arm around Naruto’s waist as he watched him interact with their snoozing baby, “We fought for this moment and here it is. I’m not saying life feels better because what we’ve had up to this point has been magnificent, but it feels fuller now.”
“I know what you mean,” Naruto said, turning his head and pecking Sasuke’s lips before turning his attention back to the infant, “She’s such a good baby too. She eats well and doesn’t cry a lot. She sleeps a ton and has such a pleasant disposition. We are so lucky.”
“Yeah, don’t hold onto that. She was recovering from the birth process. That’s traumatic for a little one,” Sasuke said, “Her true personality isn’t going to shine through for a while, but don’t think she’s going to stay like that. When everyone says prepare for sleepless nights, you better get ready for them.”
