Miles never knew his mom. It was always just him and his father, as far back as he could remember. No old photos of his dad with his mom, no wedding photos, nothing. And that was okay. He knew some kids only had one parent. His friend Larry only had his mom, and he never knew his dad. It was normal for them. Miles loved his dad, and he wouldn't have it any other way.
There was a reason there weren’t any photos of a nuclear family in their home. Gregory just didn’t know how to tell him yet. He was almost 10, he was sure he’d understand. It’s not like anything would change if he knew. It was just… difficult to explain to a child. Hell, it was hard to explain to adults. Lord knows how difficult it was to get the doctors to listen to him.

Gregory Edgeworth is a smart man, one who knew just as well as many others that the situation they were currently in was not exactly normal. He was alone in his room, on his bed, laying nearly on top of a work friend after a long day of reviewing a case. Gregory Egdeworth was a smart man, and being smart meant many things but it also meant that he did not particularly care about the situation they were currently in. On the contrary really, after all this was becoming a normal occurrence.
Though to explain why, and how, the nights alone on the couch had turned into the two sharing Gregory's double bed, and then into them cuddling before going to sleep was… a different story entirely. One that he could explain with logic and sense if you asked, there was no doubt about that. He would also just need a few minutes to think of a good way to explain it without making it sound unsavory to people who were unaware of their respective lines of work.
