Power’s eyes grow steely at his words, mouth chewing the remnants of her raw food slow and easy. Her fists clench into tight fists at her sides. “Just a few miles yonder,” she replies with her mouth full, voice muffled by the boar. “Past the treeline and left from there.”
They walk in silence for the most part. Denji can’t find much to talk about with the fiend aside from how the meat tastes, and Denji’s had it before, so he knows already. Sure, charred meat might taste different than raw meat, but the difference in flavor doesn’t matter when he’d get sick eating raw meat and hasn’t ever tried it from any animal in the first place, let alone the one he butchered today. There’s no real reason to know that raw devil-boar meat tastes like a rich and pine-like warmth that swallows the tongue and–

I love csm with all my soul and the international assassin's arc is no exception. This work is not at all trying to say the arc is bad, infact nor am i saying what I've written here is in anyway superior to the original (far from it). I just had a few ideas in my head for ways to "expand" this arc for a few characters in particular.

Maybe that's the reason Denji couldn't think straight on his not-date with Yoshida. His head just wasn't on straight, eyes out of focus and sleep pulling at him. His lack of sleep was completely to blame, that was it.

Out there on the balcony, the faint glow of the cigarette illuminating his fingertips, he instead looks like a man in atonement. For what, Angel isn’t sure. Aki has always been what most humans would call a good man.
Angel steps outside. Aki glances at him.
“You always look so miserable out here,” Angel says.
“Do I?” Aki’s voice is soft, like speaking too loud would interrupt the low drone of insects singing under the stars.
Angel shrugs. “More than you normally do, anyway.”
Aki exhales through his nose like a muted laugh. “Didn’t realize you paid that close of attention.”
“I don’t.” A lie.
Aki stares at him for a moment. Takes a slow drag. “I’m not miserable,” he says quietly. “I just…” he trails off.
Angel waits. The insects sing. Aki sighs.
“Do you ever think that maybe you’re just… not meant for the things you want?”--------
