Eliot had a good home, until he lost it. Thrown back into the foster system at the age of seven, he bounced around with no stability, until he was put in a home with a sibling—a non-verbal blonde girl that he did his best to shield from the horrors of the worst homes. It wasn’t long before they were labeled as inseparable due to psychological dependancy.
An unruly teenager with authority issues, and a non-verbal autistic girl, both with trauma? There weren’t many homes that would take them out of the goodness of their own hearts. -

Eliot Spencer got shot on a job and it was not the worst thing that ever happened to him. However, when Parker and Hardison invite him to spend the night to recover at their place, the dominoes start to fall on what could be the best- and the worst- thing to ever happen to him.
Eliot has a crisis of self, a night of telling the truth, and a wound that just won’t heal. If only there were two people who knew all the right ways to poke and prod his bruises and accept Eliot for who he is, not who he thinks he is.

Weeks later in a small town in South Dakota, he stumbles upon someone who needs help, and even though he doesn't have a team to call for back up right now, the last words Nate said to them won't stop echoing in his brain. "We made a difference." How is a newly reformed Hitter with a slowly regrowing soul supposed to turn away a hysterical woman in the parking lot of a dive bar? Especially when he figures out that the Mafia is after her?

Thankfully, a good one presents itself involving a stolen spoon design (seriously) a potential murder plot, and a singles cruise. The team must go undercover as both patrons on the cruise ship and activities staff in order to get back something that was stolen from the client.
In order to entrap their mark, Reader has to flirt with him and Eliot has to watch. Later that night, his jealousy gets the best of him, and reader, against a wall in a very small cruise ship cabin.

“A bath,” Eliot shrugged. “Some.. some needle and thread. Bandages.” The idea of being able to heal some of his wounds felt strange and far off. So long he’d just been hanging from his wrists no matter the state of his body, letting himself bleed an infinite amount of blood because physicality didn’t matter in hell. Somehow, knowing he was safe, made everything feel a little more real- made his wounds ache and throb deeper than before and made his heart cry for soft, physical contact- for cooking, the smell of Parker’s hair or Hardison’s soft skin, for mindless television, for anything domestic and normal.
