✰ THE END'S NOT NEAR. ITS HERE.
"How the hell 'ya learn how to do that? Thought you said 'yer parents were hippies."
"No, I said my momma was a hippie. My daddy was a Libertarian Ex-Marine asshole."
Bo Howell escaped her off-the-grid survivalist childhood only to find herself dragged back into it when the dead begin to walk. With a rifle on her back and a cat in tow, Bo must navigate grief, trauma, and the harsh truths of survival while tethered to a group of strangers she never asked for but slowly begins to care for.
When loyalty means risking your life, and love looks like a man who doesn’t know how to speak his feelings, Bo has to decide what’s worth staying for and what’s worth walking away from.

Summary
One bleeds, and cries, and dies, until the heavy echo of the container opens and sunlight floods in. Their heart is a chilling staccato in their chest, buzzing and swelling in their throat - until rough, hardened hands and squinty eyes arrive to hold their pieces together.
They can't sleep - never could, even Before - but sometimes they close their eyes and heat blooms at their side, and they know he's come to rest, too.
or
Someone broken and grieving and so, so alone learns what it means to be whole again. Their sorrow scorches their tear ducts and splinters the streets below, but that's okay. It is - because sweet, honeyed hands are a balm on their rosy cheeks, their bubbled scars. Their torment is wiped away until all they feel are soft, sunny fingers and pillowed palms. They think this must be love. It swells in their chest and clogs in their throat, and they cry again - because they think this feels like home.
A fic about healing and found family, featuring a very sweet and genuine slow burn -all through the eyes of my incredibly fleshed out OC. Slow and steady heals the heart and soothes the soul, as they say.
EDIT 1/7/24: Fixing up chapters 2-5, so they may not flow the best atm.

Love and violence had always come wrapped around one another in my life. Until her. And I wasn't sure I knew how to untangle them.
Dixon men loved in anger and fists and blood. I couldn't risk loving someone that way.

Summary
Whenever Daryl sees Rick grin, it chills him to the core. He's never seen a human grin like that before - never seen that gleam in a person's eye, or the unnatural glint of light off teeth that suddenly look far too dangerous to be blunted and useless.

maybe it’s been there since the moment you laid eyes on her, metal bar gripped firmly in her hands and her man-sized shirt slipping off one shoulder, black curls escaping her haphazard ponytail. maybe ever since she didn’t hesitate to get your brother back, or trust you wholeheartedly — maybe you never stood a chance.
