John-117 spent four years fighting insurrectionists across UNSC controlled space, only to be bundled into cryo and told he has a new objective; guard a UNSC camp on an alien planet, under the watchful gaze of the Vadam people, and the higher ups who are already furious with him for failing his last mission. (A mission that cost John-117 more than his rank).
Somehow, somewhere along the line, John-117 stops being John-117; stops becoming ‘the human’, and just becomes ‘John.’ He moves into the local town without meaning too and, somehow, becomes the local babysitter.
It’s only when Thel ‘Vadam, Kaidon of the Vadam region, returns from meetings at the capital that John realises how deep he is in this new life. It’s suddenly made worse by the fact that this Thel is somehow head over heels in love with him.
”Honestly,” Kelly tells him, “Only you, John.”

Their mission objective is to take the data back to Reach, but they arrive just in time to see the planet fall...

John-117 was having a great day. Being tossed through a portal onto a random planet, with two of his (now alive) dead teammates, and his four traumatised SPARTAN companions. He was also on the verge of a mental breakdown.
Sam-034, meanwhile, was having an argument with the voice in his head, which seemed insistent on him learning a nice sounding language called Mando'a, and trying to get him to sleep a full nine hours.

Three Spartans have been sent to the ruins of New Mombasa on a mission, to extract a device the Covenant have uncovered, by any means necessary even if they all are to die. But for the soldiers of the Spartan-III programs Gamma Company this is what they trained for, prepared for all their lives. A suicide mission to deal as much damage as possible.
Emma Shepard didn't ask to be brought back to life, didn't ask to work for a shadowy terrorist organization and she sure as hell didn't ask to be sent on a mission to stop an Alien species known as the collectors from abducting humans but if she doesn't do it, no one else will. Building her crew she is willing to do whatever it takes to get to the bottom of the abductions, why they are targeting humans, and finally stop them... at all costs.
