Van nodded, their reply just as quiet. “Me too.”
And that was all they needed to say.
Before long, Van drifted off, head resting on Tai’s shoulder, breath slow and steady. Tai watched them for a moment, heart full to bursting, then pressed a gentle kiss to their temple. Her eyes fluttered shut.
