Summary
As a ghost, snow was just a reminder of sadness, of freezing nights on the streets as he watched Klaus shiver, and of bittersweet memories with the family he thought he'd never get to talk to again. Being dead made the world around also look just as lifeless. Snow was just grey sludge that collected onto roads and made the world look more lifeless than it already was.
But now, Ben understood Klaus’ infatuation with the snow. It was white and powdery and the way the rising sunlight caught on the flakes made them glitter. Ben doesn’t think he’s seen anything this beautiful in years.
_________Diego wakes Ben up at the crack of dawn so he can experience snow for the first time in 17 years.

Like the first time L coaxed rather than fought Kira in bed. When Light was tense and hesitating, but throwing glances at L’s hand holding his and then letting L do everything L wanted to do to him.
Like the first time Light managed to subdue him, faced L’s coldness and caution, held him tight and whispered mockingly, “You won’t be hurt, L”, and L thought it would be a lie.
It was not.
