    Bard Bowman is struggling. With three kids, two jobs, and little help besides the few friendly faces in Laketown, life is a daily battle to keep his family's head above the water. All of that changes when a new family comes into town, hailing from the darkening Eryn Galen, which has been taken by an incurable rot that brings unknown monsters along with it.

    Thranduil Oropherion is struggling on the heels of a relationship gone wrong, hoping that the anonymity of Esgaroth will be just what he and his son need. His plans for a quiet life are interrupted by Bard and his family, who bring a joy that was long missing from his day to day. He finds himself growing comfortable with them: yet, he cannot forget why he came to Laketown in the first place

    At first, the going is slow. But as Bard and his children grow closer to Thranduil and Legolas, he learns that there is more to both of them them that meets the eye, and that they might be on the run from something- or someone- far more terrible than what lurks in Mirkwood.

    From a Hobbitkink prompt:

    The battle was over, and Thorin Oakenshield awoke, naked and shivering, in the Halls of his Ancestors.

    The novelty of being dead fades quickly, and watching over his companions soon fills him with grief and guilt. Oddly, a faint flicker of hope arises in the form of his youngest kinsman, a Dwarf of Durin's line with bright red hair.

    (Follows the story of the War of the Ring).

     

    (Bagginshield, Gimli/Legolas) In which recovery takes time, the dead members of the Company take to watching Gimli as though he’s a soap opera, the living struggle with being left behind, Legolas is confused, Khuzdul is abused, and Thorin is four feet and ten inches of guilt and anger.

    Summary

    Aragorn finds Legolas injured years before the war of the ring. He refuses to be healed but Aragorn does so after he faints. When he leaves, he thought that that would be the end of it...he thought he would never see him again. Years pass and Aragorn sees him again when he arrives at Rivendell, looking nothing like the day that he left him. Aragorn is glad that their paths cross again but Legolas is hiding something from him. Can he find out the truth and save Legolas before it is too late?

    Summary

    Fool of a Took seemed to be the enduring muttered mantra of the Fellowship, at least where Gandalf was concerned. It was entirely possible that the others thought it in their hearts– certainly not his fellow hobbits, but perhaps the Men that were sworn to follow Frodo into fire and flames, the grumbling dwarf, and the strange elf who spoke rarely and blinked even less. Pippin tried not to let it prick his heart: he knew this quest was something far beyond his understanding of the world, knew that truly realizing it would warp his brain in ways that could not be undone, knew that, after all, he was just a simple hobbit who had quite literally stumbled into saving the world. He could quell the pinpricks with those thoughts.

    Before Moria, of course. Before knocking the helmet down the well. Before the balrog. 

    (In which Legolas has a bad time, Pippin has even worse time, and the Fellowship finally gets around to talking about the balrog incident, though not before Legolas and Pippin run into trouble in the woods.)
