Summary
On the day before moving into university halls (leaving it a bit late), the Fellowship, plus some others, are added to a group chat to get to know the people they will be living with for the next year. What could possibly go wrong with all these characters living under the same roof?
Expect lots of teasing and (mostly friendly) tormenting, a concerning number of things getting broken, and way less sleep than is at all healthy.
In case it isn't already abundantly obvious, I did not create these characters, nor do I own them. I'm also definitely not the first to write in this AU either; this was inspired by a lot of brilliant and funny works which I loved reading.

“The Fellowship is to set out in December,” Lord Elrond explained, “I require your services as a Messenger to travel with them, until you’ve passed the mountains, or until Gandalf sees fit to release you.”
Panic coiled in Rhosynel’s chest, as two things became apparent. Firstly, that she could easily end up roped into travelling further on the whims of a wizard. And secondly, that if word reached her employer that she point-blank refused Lord Elrond, she’d be kicked from the Messenger services.
In other words, Rhosynel was trapped.*
Working as a messenger Rhosynel is accustomed to travelling the length and breadth of Middle Earth, so carrying a missive to the village of Bree should have been easy. But this simple task sets off a chain of events, entangling her in the lives of strangers and the fate of Middle Earth, which leaves her fighting to keep both them, and herself, alive.

Summary
Elrond had long told Aragorn stories of the elves of Mirkwood, nestled in their fir, secluded and deadly. Rarely did they interact with the other realms of Middle-earth- even trade through the wood was scarce. Most Eryn Lasgalen elves grow up never learning Westron, though the language had swept over nearly every other section of the realm.
This fact comes back to bite Legolas days too late.
OR
Legolas has a Sindarin accent and speaks slightly broken Westron. He misunderstands innuendo and forgets certain words.

This fan fiction is a blend of nostalgia, personal growth, and my love for Tolkien’s world. Originally written during my teenage years, I’m now revisiting it, heavily editing and rewriting while staying true to the original vision.

“What is it Elrond felt important enough to share with you and your pet during our meeting that he did not see fit to share in common tongue with us all?”
All characters & stuff belong to Professor Tolkien. Much of the story you know is the same, just with Aralas alterations and additions.
Italics are when they are speaking Elvish. I didn't have the patience to transcribe.

It spoke to Legolas’s skill that, just by appearing before him, this great beast could be said to have been given to him. Sam had hunted squirrels and birds in the woods, and aimed slingshots at wild foxes coming for the hens, but he could not have said that anything he killed was not a hard won victory. What a different life Legolas had led, and what a different experience he must have had with the dangers the fellowship faced. Sam wondered again why it had had to be a hobbit that carried the ring, and not one of these tall people who came from other sorts of places than one for which war was a stranger

the surviving fellowship is forced to do a tour through middle earth post-the final battle. sam is unhappy. frodo’s a prince kind of. sam’s experience with geopolitics so far allows him to take this as normally as he possibly can.

She expected the usual diplomatic friction. She did not expect mud-slinging (literal and otherwise), misplaced marriage rumors, or Éomer King glaring at her like a badly translated poem.
He expected a new trade agreement. Instead, he got a princess, armored in courtesy and extremely unimpressed.
