Lan wangji assumes that his new friend is a simple mortal fox in need of nursing, for Fox spirits haven’t been seen for centuries since the last of the foxes followed Boshan Sanren into the immortal forest. Huli Jing are natural predators to rabbit spirits and bringing one into his home would be dangerous. The fox is actually FoxXian, who after a few days turns back into human form. Seduction ensues and Bunji gets a nice railing.
