It took Gansey a few seconds to process that Declan was in the room now, and a further few to catch up to what he'd said. By the time he managed it, Declan had rescued the glasses from the floor and was holding them out to him. He said, "Lies and slander. That wasn't me."
Declan hmmed. "And if Malory asks what happened to his precious tome, what should I tell him?"
Gansey looked at the book for a moment. "Burglars?"
"Burglars." Declan repressed another smile. "Always breaking into apartments and drooling on books, those burglars."
"It's becoming a real problem." Gansey tried to nod to punctuate the point but aborted the motion halfway through. He grimaced. "Ow."
"Did you hurt your neck," Declan asked, "or was that the burglars too?"
