Atropos breaks her silence with a low chuckle. “One need not see the future to predict your curiosity, champion.”
Now there’s an interesting word to hear. It’s bait if I’ve ever heard it, and you best believe I’m going to take it like there’s no tomorrow. After all, for me there may not be. “Champion?”
Atropos speaks up again. “It was not yet your time to die mortal, but your services were required elsewhere.”
I think that means I get to live? I’ll not look a gift horse in the mouth if so. I snort at the irony of the metaphor and I think I catch a smile on Atropos’s face as I do. “Quite the job interview, though I’m not exactly in a position to decline."

Summary
He can’t help but stare, breathless, as he watches her twirl away from Suki’s blows. He doubts Ty Lee is even aware she’s doing anything, as she uses her bending passively, exclusively to augment her movements.
An extra boost given to a jump. A slight push out of the way of an incoming blow, a shove added to the force of a punch.
He’s entranced, watching the way she effortlessly weaves the currents around her. Somehow, it all just slots in place and he chuckles a bit at the fact he’s even surprised. Really, who else but Ty Lee would be an Airbender?
His laugh seems to break Ty Lee’s concentration for just a moment, as her eyes flit over and meet his.
He can’t help but observe that they’re grey; just like his. He hadn’t thought the detail significant until just now.

Thalia popped the box open and slid a cigarette free, her slender fingers elegantly cradling it. She stopped short as she noticed his raised eyebrow, before pulling a second cigarette from the carton and offering it to him, “Want one?”
Percy kept his eyebrow raised, “I didn’t even know you smoked.”
“I don’t usually, but it’s a ritual of sorts for me. Every time I get through something that I had no right to survive, I have a nice smoke. It’s a little treat.”
