Lysander, the son of Poseidon, expunged his mortal qualities in order to win the war and nearly became a god without the consent of the Olympians.

    Daemon Targaryen had not expected to wake beneath the towering face of the weirwood tree on the Isle of Gods. Especially not since the last thing he remembered was dying. Which, apperently, was over a hundred years ago. With his family long since burned to ash and what remained of his descendends lost in Essos, he had planned to take to the sky on Caraxes and punish the Seven Kingdoms for what they did to the blood of Old Valyria. Westeros could do with a reminder of a Dragon's rage and Daemon had nothing left to loose. All that remained was his wrath.
