After kissing Sasha for the first time, he’d been so scared that his father, dressed in his uniform, would drag him him to the police station- if he didn’t kill him first. Staying up with his ear pressed against the door, he waited all night for it to happen. When it didn’t, he started formulating a plan to be ready at the first sign of trouble. Every time he went home, he updated that plan. Checking the political status of the neighboring countries and memorizing the map.
Even if everyone went to Berlin, he would go to Finland.

Summary
An 'innocent' video of Ilya and Shane is posted, and their lives are abrutply turned upside down. Forced seperation, security detail, no-contact and broken hearts ensue.
____He knows who it is without having to turn around. Even in silence, in darkness- in the dim corner of the world, Ilya has always had a way of commanding a space and making his presence known.
“Made it five minutes before running. Is new record, no?” Ilya says behind him, voice low and cruel.
Shane’s laugh comes out wrong, hollow and sharp, because of course Ilya would follow him just to be an asshole. He turns slowly, because part of him wants to see if this is real and part of him wants to rip the reality out by the roots.
“Fuck you,” Shane snaps, voice shaking with rage he didn’t realize he had. “After five months of silence, that’s the first fucking thing you say to me? Fuck. You.”

Shrugging one shoulder far more casually than he possibly feels, Ilya says, “I like both. Is secret, okay?”
“Okay,” Hollander says, voice cracking.
He doesn’t say anything else. The air’s so heavy around them that it feels like being in the middle of a scrum, the weight and heat of all those bodies pressing down on you. Danger always feels like hockey; it’s the most dangerous thing Ilya knows, except for this. Everything dangerous in his life involves men’s bodies and just how close he can get to them. Closer than he probably should.
Nobody knows why Shane Hollander dropped out of the 2009 draft at the last second, and a year later it stuns the whole hockey world when he's signed by the Boston Raiders. Having the two biggest stars in the league on the same line is great for Boston - but playing alongside their worst rival was never exactly in Shane or Ilya's plans. Especially not when staying away from each other starts to feel just as impossible as getting along.
