That is a ghost alright. Marlon murmurs an apology prayer to Yoba and pulls out his sword- he’s always been avoidant of fighting off shadow people, ghosts, or dwarves, as they are- or were- a kind of people at a point, but sometimes the adventurer’s got to do what he’s got to do.
He starts walking towards the ghost, who hovers slowly, confused, towards him. But something feels especially wrong this time.
It’s not about guilt, fear, or even concern- he knows these feelings, and this is not that.
This is wrong on another level.

Put into the context of machinery, it makes sense to Scotty. You fix what’s broken, and it runs again. The human body is a machine-an infinitely complex one, one we don’t necessarily have all the schematics for yet, but it’s just an assemblage of moving parts and chemical reactions, and his was broken, and now it’s not.
For an engineer, the thought is a comforting one.
