Summary
“Well,” L whispers, his tone challenging yet playful, “If you really think you’re better than me… Prove it, Kira.”
And L ends his stream right there.
Light Yagami does not believe in coincidences.
So when his anonymous online rival, L—the only person who has ever challenged him and lived up to it—turns out to be his new roommate, Light does not panic.
He strategizes.
There are no Death Note, gods, or rules here. Instead, mainstream streamers Kira and L beef on Twitch during the day, share an apartment at night, and have late-night discussions about justice and crime at midnight; all while circling each other over and over again, unable to decide whether to destroy or understand one another.
This was supposed to be a game. It stops being one when L dedicates his undergraduate thesis to Light.
Or: L and Kira are mainstream Twitch streamers who have beef with each other. They're also roommates.

Summary
Cornered in the Yellowbox Warehouse, Light manages to escape by revealing himself as the 16th Remnant of Despair and calling for help from two of his own, without a notebook but causing unimaginable losses to the members of the task force and the SPK.
As the de facto successor to Junko Enoshima and leader of both the Remnants of Despair and the misguided Warriors of Hope, it's Light's turn to play, and he is no longer playing nice. Under Light's guidance, the Remnants rapidly gain ground and cause catastrophe to tear down the world and build it anew.
As the newest members of the Future Foundation, Aizawa, Matsuda, and Near work with the killing game survivors to gather up the Remnants. When Makoto Naegi suggests a way to return Remnants to their original selves with the help of an AI version of the late Chiaki Nanami and L Lawliet, it is a method hesitantly accepted. But everything goes wrong upon Monokuma ending up in the Neo World Program.
In the end, the survivors of the Yellowbox Warehouse must confront their pasts and the dark secrets of the Future Foundation when forced into a killing game of their own.

On a perfectly normal day, a black-covered notebook fell from the sky and landed, with a faint clatter, just outside the main building of the NPA.
On a perfectly normal day, Touta Matsuda clocks out of work with the start of a headache and a feeling of deep resignation that this is just gonna be what his life is like, huh? What if, by pure chance, Light didn't get the Death Note? What if Touta Matsuda was Kira instead? And, if both of those things are true, then how does everything else change?
