Summary
The bottom line is, Harry really hates the summer time.
The Dursleys suck, which isn't new, but for some reason nobody is writing back to him and it hurts. He has new bruises and welts all over his body, special thanks to Vernon and his bourboun, which also isn't anything that unusual, but his uncle keeps getting angrier and angrier and Harry isn't quite sure how much more of this treatment he can take.
But, hey, there's a really cool guy named Jay in Surrey, so not everything sucks. He's nice and doesn't yell and in Harry's books that's already good enough. Maybe he can get through this summer, just keep healing his injuries, have secret meetings with Jay and when summer ends he'll finally see his friends and find out what's been going on.
And then everything goes to shit, which ends up with Harry staying with motherfucking Snape.
So, yeah, Harry really hates the summer.

Arthur's relief and concern morphed into a false anger for the unnecessary panic he had just been put through. "Why the hell did you have to endanger your life?" he scolded.
"Why can't you ever just say 'thanks'?" Merlin sighed, semi-acridly and semi-teasingly.
Arthur ignored him. "Are you completely suicidal?" he exclaimed.
Merlin's eyes remained closed, but a little smile played on the edges of his lips. "You call it suicide," Merlin breathed tiredly. "I call it destiny." Arthur froze, uncertain if he heard correctly.

“No, I think not,” Arthur dismisses. He crosses his arms, tapping a rhythm on his obnoxiously well-shaped bicep. “Lots of girls like my hair,” he says, squinting in faux-concentration.
“Not a girl,” Merlin corrects, letting his eyes slide past Arthur and all of his Arthurness and into some middle distance. Gods damn it all. He should have never left Ealdor. He could be a farmer, he’s sure. Or dead. Whichever.

Arthur thinks that he can make Merlin come back to him if only he treats this Emrys the way he should have treated Merlin. Emrys, meanwhile, isn't interested in alleviating Arthur's guilt. Summary
Loneliness is an insidious thing. When Merlin looks at Arthur, he sees not just a prince waiting for his time to rule, but a young man struggling to find his place in the world, with little help from anyone else.
The truth is, Arthur needs more than the friendship Merlin can offer. He needs people he can trust: men and women who will become his court and his confidants, and if he is going to survive to take the throne and lead Camelot into its golden age, he needs them sooner rather than later.
Finding loopholes in Uther’s laws is no easy feat. Court life is a dangerous game, but it’s one Merlin has every intention of winning so that Arthur can have knights of his choosing by his side.

Snape didn’t answer, but the girl plowed doggedly on.
“Well, th-there was an a-accident at the end of the summer, sir. S-some of my potions ingredients spilled in my trunk, and I didn’t know w-what to do... M-my relatives thought I might get help at school?”
She swallowed hard, then reached into her bag and pulled out a horror of a textbook. The entire mold-stained cover slid off as she moved to set it on his desk, and a handful of ragged pages scattered as the book block landed on his desk with a damp thud.

If serving Arthur was Merlin's destiny, then why was Morgana the one he felt inexorably drawn to?
Every time his thoughts followed this trail, he felt the press of the dragon’s prophecy, the beast's rasping words so potent it was as if they were etched into his skin like scales. Arthur was the one he was meant to serve. Arthur was the one who would make it safe for magic users to thrive once again in Camelot.
So why was it Morgana he couldn’t help but fixate on?

Summary
Someone in the Camelot (Merlin) has rooted out a spy on the council. This anonymous person (who is obviously Merlin) put this accusation into a long letter, full of evidence from a thorough investigation and infiltration of the spy's circle within the staff. Arthur is remarkably impressed with this mystery detective (again, Merlin) and becomes set on uncovering their identity.
Merlin didn't think things would get out of hand. He only wanted to get rid of the spy publicly and legally, so he forewent the magic and decided to conduct a counterintelligence mission for months to gather evidence the old-fashioned way—like anyone would! But suddenly Arthur is searching for him, and magic or not, he learned a long time ago to stay in the shadows.
George is so tired. It is so obvious. King Arthur is disappointingly unobservant, and George cannot take this much longer.

Over and over again. A decade of service. A decade of… friendship? A decade of Merlin being in love with the stupid royal toad and hoping for even the smallest reciprocation. A smile, a kind word, a compliment. But for a decade, he heard the same thing, over and over.
Shut up, Merlin. That was always the way, wasn’t it?
How was Merlin expected to understand the way Arthur had been treating him lately? The king had been gentler, softer around the edges, more kind, more grateful. The warlock knew there was something there, something Arthur was offering if only Merlin took it, but he couldn’t. Because every time Arthur smiled at him, every meal offered or moment shared, all Merlin could hear was ten years of
SHUT.
UP.
MERLIN.
No, Arthur could not find out that Merlin was the writer. He’d probably set Perrin free, let him back on the council. Merlin couldn’t risk Arthur’s lack of faith in him ruining the kingdom, he just couldn’t.

But most days it seemed Arthur didn't even respect him, let alone like him. Sometimes Merlin wondered if they were even friends, despite all they had been through together.
He knew Arthur's temper had likely gotten the better of him back there, and that Arthur probably didn't mean to say such horrible things. But the king’s actions always reflected that same sentiment; that Merlin was an uneducated fool.

Summary
Merlin can’t remember the last time he’s locked his bedroom door, if ever. But he chooses not to think about it. He merely sulks his way back to his bed, taking a moment to contemplate taking off his trousers and tunic from the night before. He decides not to think about that either.
Instead, he decides not to think at all. He just falls back into his bed, covers up his body more so in shame than for warmth, and closes his eyes.
Basically Merlin is sexually assaulted and this story follows how he and everyone else deals with it.

Really?” Merlin muses, his lips barely moving as he mumbles to himself. “So is it your job to be a prat?”
“I could fire you for such insolence!” Arthur threatens, his face flaming.
The problem, they both know, is that Arthur has fired and rehired Merlin no less than three times a week since they entered into this arrangement, and so the threat has lost its bite. At present, it’s been four days since the last time Arthur sacked Merlin.

“When have I ever done as I’m told?” Merlin smiles, his fingers sliding along the nape of Arthur’s neck to tangle through his hair there. “When was the last time you saw me muck out the stables? I don’t clean your room or sweep the ashes from your hearth. I stopped doing that ages ago, Arthur.”And only then does the truth of it strike Arthur. He can’t, actually, remember the last time Merlin stomped through his chambers, covered in muck and stinking like horse dung; can’t remember the last time he walked in to find Merlin on his knees, his face ruddy with dusty ashes from the fireplace; can’t recall the last time Merlin so much as dragged a mop across his floors

Summary
After a summer spent at the Dursleys with little to no contact with the Wizarding World, Harry is exhausted. He's been attacked by Dementors, his cousin got hurt and just to add insult to injury, Harry is stuck with an angry Vernon Dursley for the rest of the summer. Oh, and he needs to be resorted, because while he doesn't love the drama, the drama loves him.
The Sorting Hat finally gets his way and a newly sorted Slytherin Harry Potter must now navigate new allies, old friendships and new enemies, all while surviving the O.W.L. year, the second most important year of wizarding education.
Maybe getting expelled wouldn't have been so bad after all.
