    Summary

Dante choked, a little. “Holy shit,” he said out loud, and hugged Vergil back, a little awkwardly. “You really missed me, huh?”

“You’re my twin brother,” said Vergil, softly. “Is it really so strange I’d hug you?”

Was it? Vergil wasn’t a huggy guy. He tended to avoid being touched, which was fine, Dante knew how to respect people’s boundaries, but—was it really so strange that his own twin could stand to hold him? Why was he so surprised? Vergil had done this before. Right?

(no no something’s not right here something isn’t right wake up Dante wake up)

“Guess not,” Dante said, warmly, patting his twin brother on the back of the head.

    Summary

He always imagined a daughter. She would have his father’s white hair and milky blue eyes, but she would have Morgan’s face; maybe she would have Vergil’s frown; maybe she would have Morgan’s sly little smile.

Nonsensically, he hoped she was taller than he was; she would get crap for it, but maybe that meant that immature men who couldn’t see the power in her frame wouldn’t attempt to use her. He hoped she was shorter than he was; that when she came to him scared for comfort, she would fit perfectly in his arms and be reassured.

Occasionally he entertained himself between fits of torture by attempting to name her. Maybe Antigone, who guided her blind father until his death. Maybe something honoring Kundalakesi, who killed her husband who tried to kill her. Or maybe Hel, or something like it, who will bring the end of the world.

Vergil never once imagined he would have a son.

    Summary

An awfully vague mission description causes Nero and Dante to be gravely underprepared for a fight. Instead of facing off against some weak lesser demons, they are greeted by a strange type of Angelo that even Dante wasn't sure existed. When the demon outsmarts them, Nero is prepared to protect Dante at any cost. Even if the cost is his own life. He's not exactly thrilled when Vergil is the one to show up at the last second to turn the tide and allow them to escape.

    _

Or: Nero takes the bullet for Dante and Vergil saves the day and finally tries to be a good father - with mild success.

    Summary

Dante is firmly convinced that the demonic gremlin voice in his head is completely insane. Vergil? Him? Nah. No way.
Unfortunately, that voice is just as convinced that a) he's the insane one, and b) he needs to get over his "stupid human morals".
And though it's always been so obvious that it needs to shut up, suddenly things seem... a little less obvious. But just a little. He's sure there's a perfectly boring explanation.

    Summary

Vergil's realised that Dante's broken his daily habit of jumping on the sofa and squashing him against the armrest when he just wants to read in peace. It should be a good thing. It is a good thing. He's finished more books in one week than he previously had in a whole month. He's just... mildly concerned. Who is Dante spending time with in place of him? Why the hell does he come back smelling like at least five different humans? Most of all, why doesn't he seem even slightly unhappy about it?
Vergil's concerned, not jealous. Certainly, emphatically, indubitably not jealous.
