Summary
Poor Eddie looked completely unprepared for such injustice in his universe.
“Eddie!” Hen called out brightly from across the circle. “Truth or dare?”
“Come on, now, really...” He sighed heavily like a man being sent off to war and took a sip from his drink. “Fine. I’m not saying dare. Not after what you made Bobby do.”

Summary
“Two suspects inside,” she said briskly. “Both armed. One confirmed weapon discharge early in– no injuries yet, thank God. SWAT’s taking the rear entrance. No visual confirmation of hostages beyond thermal scans. It’s packed in there.”
“Athena,” he said, voice dropping. “They’re inside.”
She blinked. “What?”
“Buck and Eddie. Maddie called me on the way here. She saw the footage on the news and put the pieces together. Eddie went to this exact market this morning to get strawberries– for the proposal. It was supposed to be today. Beach, picnic, ring in the cooler.”

Summary
“Ready to go?”
“I’ve been ready for a solid ten minutes, Buck. Yes, I’m ready. Let’s get to Costco before there’s too many people.”
Buck snorts, “Baby. It’s the middle of the week, this is the perfect time to go to Costco; it’s gonna be hella empty.” He opens the door and Eddie exits the house with a sigh.
“Famous last words, Buckley.”
“It’s 3pm on a Wednesday! I–” Eddie shows no sign of waiting so Buck takes it upon himself to lock up the house before heading over to the Jeep’s driver side, sliding in behind the wheel. “Who’s gonna be there on a Wednesday afternoon?”
“You never know, Buck. You never know.”

Summary
And yet, he could hear them. Each time they said something to him, each time they were cruel toward a child. “This is your fault. If our life is like that, this is your fault”, and other comments meant to hurt him. His breath caught, and he needed to leave, but he couldn't. His mind was stronger than him. His past was eating him.
A bad call ends up with Bobby bringing his kid home.
