- Talking is a wasted effort.
- The Dursley's were never coming back.Abandoned at an orphanage at six years old. The strange sort of comradarie there is a comfort over the years. While they're there, they look out for each other, they won't go our of their way to do anything special. But if they have a chance at something better, they'll take it and won't look back.

Summary
Sometimes it feels like Shiro is the beginning and the end of everything in his life, but the truth is there are some feelings that grew in the spaces between his ribs before he even knew about Shiro’s existence.
Or: Keith and grief are the oldest of friends.
“You have an amazing heart, do you know that?” Shiro’s words are soft and raw in a way Keith aches for, and they soothe the pain in his chest that grows at the thought of not seeing him again for more than a year. “It will always guide you in the right direction.” The wind blows and Shiro’s soft smile never falters.
You are the right direction, Keith wants to say. You are the only direction my heart will follow.
Instead, he bites his tongue and buries the taste of longing in the back of his mouth, turning his gaze up to the stars.

Summary
“There’s nothing out here, Coran,” Keith says. It’s not entirely true: there are fragments of ships and asteroids, the emptiness of open space, and the collapse of distant stars. It’s all right there in front of him, except for the one person he wants to see more than anything.
After the battle with Zarkon, his world had snapped back to grey and it felt like something else had snapped, too. He ran to Black but the cockpit was empty and the ground beneath his feet fell away to nothing.
Every so often, though, his world shocks into color. It’s like spilling ink in a glass of water, turning his head for a moment, and finding it clear the second he looks back.

Keith keeps his back to Lance as he takes a deep breath before diving into the reason he came here. “Ever since I came out of the pod, my entire body has been aching, but Coran said I’m perfectly healthy, that it must be residual phantom effects. But when you touched my shoulder earlier, the pain started to vanish. Just like it did back in the prison.” Keith finally turns around, eyes shadowed and arms crossed against his chest. “What I’m trying to say is—”
“That I have magic fingers.”
His head snaps up. The corner of his mouth pinches in the way Lance loves. “I swear to god if you make one more innuendo out of this thing, I’m going to kill you.”
Lance tilts his head down, a smirk on his face. “That’s a little kinky, Mullet.”

Crossing his arms, Lance scoffs. “He wouldn’t ever be interested in me.”
“He’s here, isn’t he?” Rachel shrugs. She already starts to walk back into the chaos but not before throwing one last look over her shoulder to say, “Pretty obvious to all of us.”
(Or, Keith gets injured on a Blade mission and decides to recuperate at Lance’s parents’ house. Things only escalate from there.)
