“Two nights from now,” Lan Wangji said, letting his glare linger on his teammate before turning to look Wei Ying in the eyes.
“I’ll pick you up from the dorms for a walk around the village. Please.”The ‘please’ tacked on at the end was almost a lethal blow to Wei Wuxian’s fracturing psyche at how wonderful this man was.
“Yes. Please,” Wei Wuxian croaked out, before taking his card from Lan Wangji’s hand. “I’ll buy you ice cream.”
The soft, pleased nod Wei Wuxian got in response spoke more volumes than any words seemed fitting to do in that moment.
“Thank you, Lan Zhan,” Wei Wuxian whispered, darting his hand out to squeeze Lan Wangji’s once more before pulling back and reaching down to grab his bag.
“My pleasure,” he said, and clearly meant it. He spoke with his whole face, which would make him terrible in poker, but excellent in this game of trust they were playing.
He was certainly winning Wei Wuxian over, anyway.

Summary
