When Donnie looked up, he saw that his brother was staring at him, his eyes puffy as they had started to tear up. He had just realized that his brother was crying, and that alone was enough to let him even rethink the words he had spoken a few moments ago. Did he say anything out of hand?
"I—" A broken sob escaped from the blue turtle, pulling Donnie out of his thoughts. He looked into his brother's eyes and watched as a mix of emotions played across his face. Although his brother didn't look directly at him, Donnie could sense what he was feeling based on his words.
"I know I shouldn't feel this way, but ever since Raph and dad have been gone, I can't bear the thought of any of you suffering the same fate. Even if it's just something as simple as not having enough food, I want you all to survive. It's because of the mistakes I made that led us here."
"Leo, it wasn't--"
