Astro stared at him for a moment, blinking slowly.
“I just sneezed. That wasn’t talking back.”“Excuses!” Sprout huffed, storming off to get another trash bag. “Next thing I know, you’ll be ‘accidentally’ spilling soy sauce on the floor and blaming gravity!”
Astro sighed, then shook his head with a reluctant smile. Somehow, without even realizing it, Sprout had bulldozed his way into the rhythm of their daily lives.
And maybe, just maybe, Astro didn’t mind being yelled at.
Not that he’d ever admit it out loud.

“I heard Grade 11 has three specialized classes,” Sprout continued, his voice quieter now, as though trying to fill the silence he himself had created. “Are you in one of those?”
“Yes. Literature.”
Astro could have chosen Math or English, his scores were high enough for either. But Literature spoke to him in ways numbers and formulas never could.
In words, he found color. In stories, he could see. Through imaginations, he painted worlds brighter than sight itself could offer.

He didn’t know whether or not it was a blessing to be able to see hearts everywhere at any time. He wishes he can turn it off like a light switch sometimes so he wouldn’t get stressed out over a toon having an irregular heartbeat for a few seconds. But sometimes he’s grateful for it because it also helps him find everyone faster if they needed help.
But he didn’t know what to do about Astro. Astro’s heart seems to almost always accelerate whenever he was in the same room as him. Yes he noticed it. He always takes account of everyone that’s in the same room as him out of habit after all. Although, unconsciously or not, he always tries to see if Astro was there.
